I was on Mister Rogers Season 18 Episode 14. I think it aired in 88. I worked for Bell Helmets and Mr. McFeely brought Mister Rogers a Video on the making of Bicycle helmets. After that episode aired every episode thereafter a helmet was worn if anyone was riding a bike. I was the quality control inspector for the helmet line he had filmed. Met him.. and he was a very nice man!
lol@ the people using a computer to watch youtube and say that the voting machine is complicated. I'm sure if you used it once you would understand that machine,
Can you upload some full episodes of the rare 1970s Mister Roger's Neighborhood episodes that I and so many others grew up with, the 1968-1975 ones? I haven't seen them in so long!
I'd like to get the segment that has the song "I Like To Be Told" in it simply because I love the message in that song & I can't find it in the YouTube library. Where do I look? What category do I look under?
To anyone who wants to make this or any other video about this asounding, compassionate man, a political soap box, shame on you. We need more Fred Rogers in the world. A kind, caring man who is sorely missed. Remember, President Bush awarded Fred Rogers the Presidential Medal of Freedon. The highest honor a civilian can recieve. Even President Bush loved Fred Rogers work. Mr. Rogers, you are always and forever in our hearts. You helped me through hard times when I was a child. God Bless you.
I Bgan watching Mister Rogers' n 1989. What I njoyed about his show is n the opening, the neighborhood model, trips he went on. Also he would sing songs like the 1 I miss hearing is "I'm interested n things". May 1991 I like first heard that 1 from a 1972 episode. His show was 2 keep on airing 4 33 years. he'd shown his TV neighbors there was more they'd like 2 discuss. N the late 70's his show took a hiatus. I was born n '78. He revived his show the next year. Upset my birth year unshown.
@TheRenard10 Mr. Rogers did sing meaningful songs. I think I liked all of them, like "You are my friend you are special...", "There are Many ways to say I love you", and of course the theme song, "Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood."
If we had loving caring people like this man who gave his life showing children its ok to feel how they feel, we just may see a turnaround in not only our country but entire world
since i didnt have cable i would wake up in the middle of the night in the summer when i was a kid half asleep and just sit on the couch staring calmly/mindlessly into the tv at this show.
I am surprised they had computer voting in the 1970s, especially when it was that complicated. It would take me a full 3 minutes to vote for everyone with all of the options there.
My favourite part is they actually admit there is a problem with the voting machine instead of trying to hide it.
i'm not american but i did spend a substantial part of my upbringing in america. watching mr rogers was practically a daily ritual after grade-school after being taunted day after day after another for being the 'donger' or the 'foreign kid.' mr rogers helped me understand the most little things about american culture that a child should know and taught me the virtues an upright man should have and that i am today. it's a shame we don't see these kind of shows around anywhere no more...
PBS do you happen to have more pre-79 episodes like this one with voting clip from 1974? I think alof of people would like see those get stream online. Make-Believe on this week was about the Purple Planet Paul Pauline. I can see purpose of posting this video on voting for election thanks.
Mister Rogers always showed us very cool things. My Favorite thing about Mister Rogers is when he when and showed us things that were only make believe like The Incredible Hulk and showed us it wasn't real only pretend. I love you Mister Rogers thank you for letting my childhood be a little easier on me and loving me for the way I am you will always be my neighbor.

So....this video is kinda pointless lol.

@Flashmikko I know. I would watch this every weekday after pre-school and kindergarten. I'm gonna have to buy dvds of this for my own kids. Mr. Roger's show told the truth about things. And, he never led us on to believe that something was real when it was fake. He even brought his puppets to the house.
I think this is one of the best pieces on voting computers. I mean the main critisism of them is apparent there. Althought you can switch around on all of those switches as much as you'd like, there's no way an average person could find out if this computer is working or not.
Mr. Rogers was one of my favorite shows when i was a kid. He was so happy and cheerful, while teaching a lesson everyday that all of my family would enjoy. He was one of my favorite people of all time and an inspiration to many.

Obviously this was mechanical- but did it punch a paper ballot or something?

By the 90's, Nashville had computerized machines where you pushed a button beside your candidate, and a little red LED lit up showing your vote...then you just pushed the green "vote" button to cast your ballot. Obviously this was mechanical- but did it punch a paper ballot or something?

What a mature concept for kids to learn in a non-threatning, easy to understand way.
Voting machines have that lever to pull back though. That's the machine that I used when me and MANY others voted last Tuesday.
