This car looks boring, and outdated....the led's in the headlights look out of place and the headlights are squinting, why ?? & its worse on the inside, what is a cheap HVAC ventillation pillar doing in the middle of the car ?? put the rear vents in the roof, controls in the armrests clear the clutter, put Ipad's in the back of the front seats or atleast ipad connectivity with folding keyboards in the center console in the rear.
i spent a while looking at this video playing music that might go with it... lots of chilled electronic and stuff... but the only thing that works is Gymnopedie no. 1 by Eric Satie... kind of sums up the car too! any other ideas?
I agree. this is the car for people who really know quality and perfection who don't want to stand out. Many people buy cars for badge prestige. They really don't understand the car. As long as OTHER PEOPLE are impressed they are happy. What's really funny is all the folks that think the Phaeton's sales failure in the USA caused VW to scap the car. Wake up people, VW is not trying to break any sales records in the US market with this car, it sells quite nicely elsewhere thank you.

Do you know why this car is so nice? because in comparison with the 7 series , A8 and other luxury cars(S klasse) ,it remains the only one who is still made manual ( assembly), the only one who has real not fake leather interior and also the only one ( except for bentley ) who has natural wood trims... this car is great because it is for people who don t want to stand out ... this car is so F great !!!
@armenianbullet You have to remember, this is a VW. It's competitors are toyota, honda, and all of the other generic brands. You shouldn't be comparing this to mercades. For what it's worth this is a great car.

While the S class is for people who don't have a clue about cars, even tho the S class is a brilliant car, the Phaeton is still better value for money.
I saw one in Vancouver street today. It could be described as two words - stunningly beautiful. Even for someone who is not a fan of German cars became crazy about this model.
