I never met this young man who sacrificed everything for his friends, but he has held a place in my heart ever since I read his story in 2008 in the local paper; at lunch, with my husband and I couldn't stop crying. I still have that paper in a special place and I happily pull it out and use it to beat people over the head with when they forget the sacrifices our CHILDREN make in the name of freedom. Our sincerest condolences to his friends and family.
THIS HERO WENT TO MY SCHOOL. IN KNOX PA KEYSTONE JR SR HIGH SCHOOL. THIS MAN WAS NOT A SIMPLE MAN HE WAS A HERO.. FOR THOSE THAT DISLIKED THIS ... JUST THINK IF IT WASNT FOR PEOPLE LIKE HIM ... WE MIGHT NOT BE HERE TODAY
May America die, if ever, it forgets Heroes such as Spc. Ross McGinnis. Achilles himself has nothing on this warrior, for Ross McGinnis died out of love for his brothers, while achilles was vain loved only himself. May God Almighty, King of Heaven and Earth, smile on your family, bless them with His Spirit. RIP Ross McGinnis.
i read all of these comments and im beginning to cry. these brave young men give everything for us and we need to appreciate them for what they did for us and still do today
Hello, i did knew Ross, my Husband served with him back then in Irak,i remember the day when he called me and told me that Ross died. He always sayed that he knew how to make the guys laugh. I am so sorry for ur loss, and my prayers r with u. God bless u...
this is why we should always support our troops, no matter if we believe in war or policies of presidents. they grew up with us, played our sports, went to our schools...they ARE us.
for my hero project for my religion class, i chose to write about ross. im sooo happy i was able to learn about him and his sacrifice and may his soul rest in peace. your memory lives on
"Simple Man" is a song by southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd from the album (pronounced 'lĕh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd). The song ranks among the best known Skynyrd songs. The song was composed by lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Gary Rossington.
This accoustic version Christina used with her video is indeed a cover recording done in 2004 by the group Shinedown. It is on their "Leave a Whisper" album
An unbelieveable sacrifice he made there. May his soul rest in peace.
All who knew him can be very glad to have known such an outstanding individual. I think how he died won't make the loss easier however I think it gives his death a purpose.
I never knew him or anything, but what he did was something that will stay in me for a long time, if not forever. It's people like him that makes me try to become a better person. Seriously, you're my hero.
It's such a shame that I'll never get to meet such an extraordinary person like him.
It breaks my heart just to watch this, but a great tribute video by Christina nonetheless.
I visited Ross's grave at Arlington on 11/21/08 it was my honor to be there to pay my respects. God bless Ross and his family and to all the Men & Women still defending America and FREEDOM.
i beleave this man not only a fellow comuntiy member but a friend will live in our hearts for today and forever ross will be not only my icon of a great but i beleave other as well
it hit our cumminty hard but we now have our hero in knox pa we will live in memory of this great man for ever and look to him to do wat is right to give ones life to save many i beleave ross will be a icon of great men to come and i hope his sprite will live on we will miss him for now and for ever here in our little comunity here in knox

i saw this at school and cried. im now training to b in the army and have been weeping for the last hour knowing that there are real people, real heroes out there like ross. God bless you.
i can remember sitten at my lunch table in school and looking out the window seeing ross running laps on the track wearing the biggest heaviest boots he could find. When i askd y he didnt really have a response just grinned alil and continued on with wat he was doing ...my theory is that god puts a select few on this earth to keep us in line to show us wat it is to b truely unselfish ..i believe ross knew he was destined to b great..the world is a little darker without him. r.i.p ross
rip brother. You defied what the definition of hero means in only 19 years. I know that I will be lucky and grateful to be half the man as you are! Thank you
From a British citizen across the water, its men like PFC McGinnis that sum up the word HERO,
Although we the public can rest peacefully in our homes and some cast doubt on the deeds these brave men do in our names in far flung countries around the world, we should pause to consider them and what they endure on a daily basis, for there all legends in there own rights.
Hey Ross, miss you man. It was an honor serving with you. Christina, thank you for placing this video, watching it over and over again but it always feels as if it was the first time. God bless and protect all of our worriors. Strength & Honor
as a recently seperated service man, i was to let the family know there in my prayers. and ross as a brother service man to me! thanks for your commitment, honor and love!
God Bless you Christina, Ross' family, and Ross' SPIRIT!! What a hero!! He EARNED the title "American Hero" and all the glory and honor that comes with it. It's not a "Buzz phrase" or something catchy people will say to sound patriotic or poignant. He's the real deal!! I could live another thousand years and not be the man that Ross was in 19 short years. I hope his family remembers that there's many people watching this video and weeping with pride that there are Americans like Ross out there!
WHOA WHEN I READ THIS I SHED A TEAR WHAT A HERO THIS MAN IS ITS SAD HE LOST HIS LIFE BUT TO GIVE YOUR LIFE FOR OTHE WHAT A HERO... Ross Andrew McGinnis GOD BE WITH YOUR FAMILY AND THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING..... YOU ARE MISSED AND LOVED
General George S. Patton said the following words, which apply to heroes like Ross McGinnis: "It is wrong to mourn the death of men like these. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."
Ross McGinnis was/is the perfect role model for all of us. God grant him eternal rest.
This video is an amazing tribute and memorializes Ross's courage and compassion. His family and you have been required to share a horrible burden, and we wish you peace as the Ross chapter of your lives must draw to a close.
We thank each of you for the impacts that you had in developing the character required to commit such a selfless act. Please take some comfort in the thanks of a grateful nation as it bestows its highest honor on Ross.
02 June 2008, the day Ross McGinnis will be awarded the MoH. I shall watch the ceremony. Each day, I wear a KIa braclet that bears his name. I was honored to stand with the Patriot Guard the day he was laid to rest at ANC.
To the family members of Spec. Ross Mcginnis you should be very proud. People may critize the war but what they forget it's not a draft. The brave men and women joined for a reason, lets not forget that. His thoughts were with his men at time of greatness. That will never be forgotten......And as much as one family mornes, atleast 4-5 are blessing him.
i read about him in the book "They Fought for Each Other"
i need to tell you right now, he is one of the bravest men.
