Betty knows people are going to be seeing her on TV every week (every day if you count Golden Girls). Joan does a gig, and the next morning she has to start all over. If she wanted immortality, she should have developed a sitcom for herself to star in like Roseanne, Seinfeld, and so many other standup comedians have done.

If you go on Sothebys Realty and search for listings in New York City you will find a listinf for a $25,000,000 penthouse, the penthouse is Joan Rivers lol. So I doubt shes starveing, but maybe she does spend a lot so maybe she doesnt have a whole lot of money but Im sure she isnt starveing lol.

What happened on the Fox show -- I remember quite well. Arsenio came on as Joan's guest and absolutely killed, with a toilet paper joke of all things. I've never heard a laugh like that. After that it was all over but the shouting...

Great interview. Thanks for posting. I love Joan. Interesting to hear about Carson and Fox. She was fantastic on The Tonight Show. And that Fox Show should never have been canceled. Her ratings -- for the first show on Fox, before the Simpsons era -- were actually pretty good, as the subsequent guest hosts proved.
