  • @Y0uTube235 i think it Mercury Vapor.

  • It's a mercury vapor lamp?

  • Is that fitting made of aluminium or fibreglass?

  • @fiesta1117cc Aluminium

  • You can run an 80 watt MV lamp on that fitting but don’t do it too often because it buggers up the lamp igniters that strikes the son lamp & you’ll find only son lamps with internal igniters or MV lamps will only work on the fitting

  • @fiesta1117cc Yes I can, the mercury lamp will be overdriven slightly though as they're designed to run at 0.8A rather than 1A. This particular lantern isn't fitted with an ignitor so there's no worries there.

  • @P42STUFF One of the supermarkets near where i live have fittings similar to this lighting up its car park They were originally 70 watt son lamps but last year the contractors were paid to do planed maintenance ie replacing all the bulb The funny thing is there running 80 watt Mercury Lamps in 70w son fixtures there still working today but only one out of the 12 MV lamps have dimmed slightly I think this maybe down to a faulty bulb
