If you were one of the fortunate few who were allowed to be directed by this "LEGEND" - you should thank the Gods in Heaven ...I was one of those lucky Marines who not only got to see his MAGIC first hand when he arranged and taught us but I was also invited into his home and became family on weekends when we watched "Redskin" games together....I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM AND HIS WONDERFUL FAMILY......GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU TRUMAN - SLEEP WELL MARINE
God bless and keep all Marines around the world as they stand guard over our cherished liberties. Would that today's Marines had a worthy commander in chief!
I'am proud to have served with your Dad, and am sure I speak for those that new him,as I was fortunate too, your Dad will always be remembered.Just wish he and I had fished the Potomic ,more often than we did.I think the last trip...he skunked me!
Every American has to see the Friday Night Parade at Marine Barracks, 8th & I, Washington, D.C. during the summer months. Don't miss it is you are in D.C.
Awesome and quite an experience watching the one and only commandant's own at the Rose Bowl DCI & Annual Show. I had a real good time watching your live performance.
Truman Crawford directed our Drum and Bugle corps and his associate Rodney Goodhart was our Drum line director back in the 1960's. We were an award winning organization, as was to be expected with Truman at the helm. Forty years later, I am playing in a symphony orchestra, and active in many other musical organizations. Truman's influence had a major impact on my life and he will always be remembered for his contribution to the world of music.
That's my father directing. After loosing him I was compelled to begin learning how to play a horn. He left behind so many wonderful arrangements.
This will be my 4th season playing a Baritone. Currently I perform with the Yankee Rebels in Baltimore. The Music Express in Barrington N.J. and this year I push the envelope playing w/ The Hawthorne Cabs. alumni.
@cin4057 I'm sure your DaD is damn pround of you for this post and I wish I could arrange like those who arrange for this most excellent unit. I am a former Army musician(o2m20)percussionist and I wish I had the chops of any Marine in this unit, Drums, Cymbals, or those most magnificant Horn Technicians. Your Dad had to be one of the finest and thanks for His service.
THERE WAS ONLY ONE TRUMAN CRAWFORD.

For once I would like to hear the unmutilated, original versions of these traditional compositions.

Mutilated? Music is meant to be made and arranged. No music is mutilated.

I'm Col. Crawfords granddaughter, Ashley. And I was probably 3 when this was taped. And I was most likely there, in the front, row, half asleep. haha

He has quite a few arrangements of, America. It's one of the reasons I began relearning how to read music so I could distinguish one from the other.
This is my all time favorite arrangement of America.
