I don't know if Locks of Love is a fraud or not, but I do know that some of the posts here are just pure lies. Diane Lane's hair length is just about right. For MarysLittleLamb, if your hair was down to your hips, you must have donated like 25 inches. Really, just grab a tape measure and do the measuring yourself. Come on. I know because I just had someone measure mine, which is just a tad longer than Diane Lane's, and it was about 13 inches down from the ponytail holder.

I see alot of negitivity about locks of love and they do admit that only 80% goes to kids. They sell too short hair, molded or hair that has something wrong with it. I know alot of people that have hairloss and have wigs from there. On many websites about almost every charity there is a critism section, so I'm going to keep donating, because I don't know of any other places for kids.

I think Diane Lane is one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood (one of the only for that matter), but after seeing this...It all seemed so phony and shrill. Her hair isn't even long, probably not enough to make a toupee. Seems like a publicity stunt almost. And the woman from the Today show must be a real imbecile; she can't even use a pair of scissors to cut in a straight line. It would make more sense to donate the money or one of her own wigs she mentioned.

@MarysLittIeLamb You are SOOOO right. There is no way it was long enough. When I got my hair cut it was sooo long(like down to my hips) and it was exactly 10 in. and no more. It was shorter than that too. But i also had to have mine evened out a little but there is no way they culd make a wig from that!

yeah your probably right, and maybe she doesn't actually donate her hair. It is just to promote the hair donation, but her hair doesn't meet all the requirements to be donated, like the lenght, the "no color treatment", "no heat damage", everybody knows that a hollywood personality has too much heat and color damage on the hair, so this is just to promote the hair donation.

Locks of Love is a fraud. They sell they hair they receive. Don't support his scam. Locks of Love doesnt meet the Better Business Bureaus Standards for Charity Accountability. Do your own research and you'll find out what I wrote is factual.

That is really weird, because Locks of Love needs at least 10 inches of hair (almost 30 cm) with one equal lenght, hair in layers is acceptable if the shortest layer is at least 10" and must be separated in multiple pony tails. Hair that is dyed or highlighted is not acceptable.

Maybe she just did it to inspire other women, but for sure her hair is not going to be used for locks of love.

I actually just donated mine to the same place, Patene beautiful lengths. Your hair only has to be 8 inches & as long as it is colored with semi-permanent color it can be used.

There are a TON places you can donate & each has a different requirement. The one I wanted to use was the childhood leukemia foundation b/c their wigs are free & locks for love wigs are not, but you had to donate 12 inches!

Most of the hair donated does not end up on a child's head. It ends up being sold to commercial wigmakers. If you really want to help people with cancer, donate money to the American Cancer Society. Locks of Love is a scam.

It definitely is a scam, because most of their donations are sold to commercial wigmakers AND cancer patients aren't even their primary beneficiaries -- they were started by a woman whose daughter had alopecia, and kids with alopecia are given priority over all other candidates.
