About how much did this cost you to do? I really want to try something like this but I want to get it all priced up before I start, i thought about buying one already modded online but for a start that loses out all the fun of doing it myself, and its a horrid amount more expensive, cheers :)
@ertorgles It cost me about $100-120 each whether it was already modified exec 64 or a excellent condition breadbox, floppy drive, joystick and monitor. Even tho i had to be patient i found the Mssiah, Prophet 64, Sonus, Passport Designs, Sequential64, and a custom interface for typically between $20-60. Specialized music software can be $10 20 bucks or more. It cost about $200 for a C64 synth sequencer. A Sequential Circuits MAX and TOM used during that period cost me 200 buck each as well :)
Very nice, but not possible on the C64 since the SID chip only has 3 sound channels. Here in this video 6 are in use. It is possible to mix 2 channels down to one though something I doubt is happening here. Anyway. Nice song!!
@ledningen2001 Thanks ledningen2001! You are indeed correct about the SID chip having 3 sound channels. However, I am using two SID 6581's in my C64. 8 bit Ventures sells a circuit board called the SID2SID that allows addition of a second SID chip.
@ledningen2001 The C64 is capable of 4 voices. 3 analog synths and 1 digital using PCM with the volume register. Many 1983-1986 Martin Galway songs did this...
Is it just me or has the price of a c64 gone up in the last 10 years. I used to get them for free or like $20 at a garage sale.

Great 8-bit video. Could you do "American Pie" by Don McLean?
kandstrom 1 month ago
This is the only 8-bit version on Youtube that is TRUE 8-bit. The Commodore 64 is an 8 bit computer.

Why is the video black & white?
SoundwaveRomania 1 year ago
@SoundwaveRomania I'm not sure. I think my C64 A/V cable is junk. Sometimes it's color, sometimes it's black and white.

@SoundwaveRomania Haha I somehow find you on almost every video I view.

My God, an 8-bit chiptune of Don't Stop Believing that doesn't suck!
You, sir, are my hero.
