Dave Amato , from my hometown in MA., also Kevin Cronin, I used to see these guys playing my High School dances. I stood in front of Dave and watched him wheel a white strat, (1977, St.Johns High), it made me go out and buy a new strat, and I still have it. They were playing cover tunes then and they played them perfectly.
My buddy got one of these back in the 1980's for 2500 bux. They didn't know what they had. Now this thing is worth 400K. Those collectors are really driving up the prices of all those guitars they never play.
Guitar gods are just like religion, everyone can have their own views on them but in the end they're your OWN views. It's the oldest argument ever, if everyone could just shut up and stop arguing....
clapton? if it werent for clapton slash wouldnt have been able to buy a les paul they only started making them after clapton and peter green used them
ya..i agree...u know..when some guy said gibson lespaul guitar...many people will think slash first...dont know why...maybe is image...for me also..hehehe...
You know what pisses me off the most about people like you? You're a closed minded, punk that can't accept Dave for the talent that he has. I'd like to fucking see anyone step in after Gary Richrath, no one could compare, so you bastards really need to lay off of Dave, honestly. He does better than anyone I could possibly think of, and as far as years with the band, Dave officially has put more years into REO than Gary has. Sure, the albums were there with Gary, but who has (continued)
(contined from last) but, who has consistantly played all those amazing songs every night for the past 20 years? Dave has. He stood up to the plate, and the fans truly accept him. As much as they bitch about Gary being gone, and yes, I'm a HUGE Richrath fan, so I do it too... (continued, still)
(continued, still) it's still a fantastic show, and still an amazing performance from Mr. Amato. I've seen Speedwagon at least once a year for the past 11 years of my life, and they've always done a terrific job. Even without Gary. So, take your "stand in" comment, and shove it straight up your ass, you shmuck!

Sorry. I forgot about all those hit songs that have come from the creative genius of Dave Amato. Whoops! Those are Gary's licks he's playing when you go see him. It must be tough playing only what Kevin allows. Hey, go ahead and be a REO Stationwagon fan. Too bad for you you never got to see the real REO before Gary had his troubles and got chucked overboard.

Good grief Ryan, must you insult to get your point across? Harsh words coming from someone who plays records and not an instrument. You are talking to someone who can actually play those licks. Believe me, Amato would have wilted if he sat next to Richrath at that expo. I think he would have walked off or just drooled in awe. "Gary, how did you do that?"
I play guitar, you ignorant fuck. Richrath IS BETTER!! I just said that Amato covers the role well in the band. All of you closed minded fucks are making this into something it isn't. Not to mention, this wasn't even your argument, Jim. Fuck you.

Ryan, you are an angry person. I know your type. I am sure you are like a guy I played with who would leave the stage cursing in the middle of a song and run out to his car in the parking lot to snort some nose candy so only to return with a goofy smile on his face, ready to play again. My advice, get back on your meds.
Yeah, I see Gary around my town....Newbury Park, CA. Although I have not seen him in about a year or two. I used to see him playing basketball at the local park. I always felt like going up to the guy and saying......."dude, do you really know how good your were?"

Players such as Gary Richrath actually made hits using this guitar. Sorry Dave, you are just a stand in.

I know that. But, he still plays them well. I don't really have time to argue with another bastard, though.
