  • 2.37 always makes me smile. Gorgeous.

  • 1 person is an epic fail

  • @32Pokemaster It's probably Peter Hook.

  • One of their best . Fantastic tuneage.

  • The multiple synth parts in here were as great as any classical tune. Just majestic, quite an accomplishment.

  • I think on Brotherhood they found their own unique sound! At those times this was VERY ahead of their times!Very!!!

  • absolute song writing perfection. when i hear music like this it makes me feel so proud to be british

  • BRILLIANT !

  • The best New Order song ever; I love New Order; there is no band like it.

  • As legendary as they were as Joy Division, I feel when this album came out they became pure New Order. Does that make sense?

  • no dislikes, just the way it should be.

  • my fav New Order song

  • Elegant musically and eloquent lyrically.

  • I was privleged not only to see this show but to meet Hooky and Bernard. I was a pup. Such a great track and album!!

  • @coolti44 Wow !!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was privleged not only to see this show but to meet Hooky and Bernard. I was a pup. Such a great track and album!!

  • dat ass

  • I used to scream and shout all day long

  • Along with ' Vicious Streak ' this is one of my favourite New Oder tracks. Great band.

  • The best New order song.. period. crank it up and enjoy.

  • Jangle Pop and Bass. Love it!

  • Awesome!!! Thanks for posting -----> Heading to tha turntables now!! =)

  • I used to play this song over and over again on vinyl.

  • @JediGTI Me too!

  • Does anybody know what "tune" is played in the middle of the instrumental part? It sounds like a British theme of some sort. Excuse my ignorance and have pity on me. :)

  • @hawaiidispenser if you mean the string part I think its Wagner's Rheingold prelude

  • @makerofjam Thanks, you're right about the strings part, but I meant the short part from 2:21 - 2:36. Do you know what that is from? Sorry, I should have put the time in my previous post.

  • @hawaiidispenser sounds like a variation on the same tune to me

  • @hawaiidispenser it's New Order, it's not from anything i.e. it's their own thing, programmed - probably by Steve or Barney, not a sample.

  • The instrumental part is identical in some ways on "Bring Home The Dancing Horses" by the Echo and the Bunnymen

  • best track on this lp.

  • My fav NO song after ceremony.

  • What is this song about? I get the general idea of it but anybody know the specifics?

  • @MrShane82 NO is notoriously vague about song meaning. words rhyme and sometimes that's all it is. Occasionally there's meaning but more often than not, there's simply rhyme. The point is to feel the feeling and hear the melody and develop your own idea. let the music take you, like a soundtrack to your thoughts.

  • Rheingold Prelude was used in the movie Nosferatu from 1979, which Ian C and Bernard liked.

  • Very "Wagnerian". New Order often accused, along with Joy Division, of fascist sympathies. Quite wrong as it turned out.

A class song from a class album by a class act.

  • @nickloyal

They have taken from Das Rheingold prelude. But both are great artists and they have put Wagner to good use

  • From the lyrics it sounds like its about a kid dying from some sort of abuse from someone he trusted like a parent , relitive , or friend. I love this song though even if the lyrics area a bit depressing.

  • that Hookey bassline is fuckin amazing on this!

  • is this about ian curtis?

  • New Order was the best of the 80s imo

  • classic new order

  • This is the Pièce de résistance of New Order in my book. Fantastico and other foreign phrases, the shiznit.

  • One of their very best tracks.

  • What an ace this song is... Still gives me goosebumps!!

  • This is the album I was introduced to New Order with so it will always remain the most prolific set of songs.

  • In my youth I did indeed listen to this all day long, alternating with As It Is...

Might just rekindle that habit now!

  • Best track on Brotherhood and one of their best overall. Love it.

  • such an incredibly underrated song. such a beautifully executed piece. such joy in listening...

  • Just got back into Brotherhood, Great great Album, I listen to PCL more but this is delicious in every way.

  • PCL is the best album to listen to.

  • Majestic!

  • Fantastico!!!

  • The guitar solo that comes in at 2:36 is just sublime!

  • I always thought that was peter on bass, but it could be guitar. Peter always play bass like a guitar ;')

  • One of the best songs one one of the best albums of all time

  • Amen.

  • Thanks for uploading this great song.

  • A synthesizer SYMPHONY!

  • this song makes me cry every time

  • What would I have done without THEM?

    Fantastic!!!

  • This is probably my favorite New Order song of all time. It reminds me of my high school years. I think I really identified with lines "So don't tell me about politics

Or all the problems of our economics

When you can't look after what you can't own"

Basically it was then that I became became disillusioned with the false promises of American secular culture. Thank God I became a Christian because politics still can't address the root cause of something so profoundly wrong as child abuse.

  • That was exactly what Bernard Sumner was thinking when he wrote this one.

  • whole album here, why remove Bizzare Love Triangle.

  • I was DJ'ing a gig here in LA back in the early 90's. Some guy came up to me and asked if I had this song since I was playing a ton of New Order that night. I told him I didn't. He walked away dissatisfied and bummed. Then I reached into my crate and pulled this puppy out! The floor filled immediately. One of New Order's finest!
