Hi Craig, wow that looks good, Nicholas said thank you for making another Cooking video, as well me too we just love to watch your videos, Cheers Craig, Mark
Buddy please please please you have to make a punkin brew . I no its january but you never made a punkin spice brew . Please make it happen . You the man keep up the good work !
Hi Craig, I have just cheated at this with a branded instant gravy granules, I would not recommend this method of cheating as the salt content is to high in the gravy. But my daughter and I really enjoyed the Poutine despite the salty gravy. Good video I would never had thought of this for a meal without your video. Keep Em comin :)
MSG is used a lot as a preservative in food products... and you're right, it's not good for you at all....... nice gravy recipe Craig. Here on the east coast beef gravy is preferred over chicken.... not sure why... I like both and use both when we make it at home.
Oh yeah my best meal! If one day you go to Montreal, Qc, try the restaurant "La Banquise" it's a 24h restaurant and people made a line up outside at manus 15C at 3am for one of these. Oh no, now i wanting one and it's 60Km from home. :-p Otherwise, good video, thanks Craig.
Couldn't resist, I had to make some of this last night after watching the video. I don't have easy access to curds, so had to use cheese. But yum yum yum all the same.
Great video man, always watched the brewing videos, but you need to knock out some more of these, maybe do some recipes that you pair with beer, Cheers!!!
Hey Craig! I'm from Quebec and this is THE best "Fast food" ever :)
If someday you come to Quebec City, you should try Ashton poutine... Especially in January cause there's a discount following the temperature. So if it's -21 outside you get 21% off your poutine! Is't awesome! Cheer! Keep your good work.
By the way, i'm gonna make some clips in the next days, so stay tuned :D
Great video, try wooden cooking untensils, to cook with because when you use metal on metal there are microscopic metal pcs that come off both pan and spoon and therefore items being cooked.
@itillbeme That's a pet hate of mine. Can't stand it when I watch professional chefs and cook scratching away at their pans with metal spoons.. They, of all people, should know better. Only prob when it comes to wood is hygene. Because of the grain in wood etc, swelling and shrinking, it allows places for nasties to hide so they need a good soaking in sterilizer / sanitizer to ensure they're really clean before use.
Hey, I got a 5 gallon barrel of muscidine wine, I let it ferment for 5 days uncovered with the grapes in the wine, I poured it in the new container, and put an airlock, on it it has been going for 2 weeks like that, and it is almost time to pour in the third container, to clear up, then for a month, I don't like carbonated wine, will it hurt if I take the air lock off, and cover the the whole where the with a paper coffee filter, will it make it go bad, or will it be fine.
@isamtator if you leave the air lock on and let it finish it won't be carbonated. Carbonation happend under pressure, usually you prime bottles and seal them. if you take off the airlock even with a coffee filter in place you will probably spoil your batch.
All the Canadians I know rave about Poutine. I've never had it, but I need to learn how to make it since I can't just mosey on over to Canada to get some at a restaurant.
My doctor just wrote me a 5 page letter concerning my health. Where was this recipe 2 months ago? This is not fair! If you are going to make a Poutine vid, then I want Brooke to make a vid on healthy eating. Just stick a french fry with cheese curd and gravy right through my heart! Oh the humanity of it all!
You had my mouth watering the whole time. Damnit! Hey Craig, if you ever cut the wrong size potatoe, just pop it in your mouth raw. I love'em that way!
I am from Quebec and have tasted my share of poutines during my lifetime. I have to agree with what Craig said...don't get all wacked and start mixing other ingredients in your poutine like meats and vegetables...The combination of hardy fries, gravy and cheese curds is a match made in heaven. P.S. The correct pronounciation in Quebec is Pou~"tin"... as in "tin" can. In other parts of the world they pronounce it, "Teen". It is however spelled the same way. Thanks for the vid Craig!
OOOOOO yes Craig !! DE LA BONNE VEILLE POUTINE !!! Cool that you show this video i did not know you guys would know about poutine all the way back in southern ontario because some time it's less available outside Quebec !!! good stuff
I hate ready made meals. Heck, the only time some of the meat pies in supermarkets see meat is when they're in the delivery truck passing a field with said animal stood in it. "Mechanically recovered meat" is just another way of saying stuff you'd only give a dog. Down with cheap food which is 99% filler and chemical additives and flavors!!!! If I want to eat a meat pie, I want meat in it. If I want to eat bacon, I want bacon, not injected proteins and fillers. :(
Many chemicals / elements appear naturally in our environment and in the human body but adding them in places they don't belong just to make a product appear more than it is is wrong. Look at all the additives that have been removed from foods over the past decade. Sooner or later people realize they are harmful when not in "normal" amounts. Just like salts, fats etc. Ready made and prepackaged meals being a prime example. Food should taste good naturally!
i think i could eat this anyway that its handed to me... you just cant have a wrong combo with fries, cheese, and gravy... while it might be the original recipe, you cant say that the other variations on it dont sound good!
Note that Monosodium Glutamate is just a synthesized version of a naturally occurring compound in kelp that the Japanese have been using to enhance flavor for centuries. It's chemically identical to the real thing, and no worse for you than salt.
You still shouldn't use Bouillon cubes, not because of msg, but because they have no flavor. :p
Well done Craig! That is authentic (coming from a Quebecer like me) enough to get a thumbs up and encourage people to give this a try. But be warned!!! It's adictive.
@CraigTube Well since i'm interested in biochemistry here is something."In neuroscience, glutamate is an important neurotransmitter that plays a key role in long-term potentiation and is important for learning and memory"
And all that youtube conspiracy stuff, i think you must be smarter than that to fall for some overobsesed ecofaschists.
@trvekvltBurzum Yes I see your point, but the amounts that are put in the foods and things that we buy are way too high, and cause many people problems. I, for one, can't eat high MSG foods because they send my heart racing, as they do to many others. Companies add this to their foods to enhance flavour, and save money. There are many brands on the market labeled "NO MSG". I wonder why ?? The second ingredient on those cubes is MSG, next to SALT. I don't recommend them at all, research done.
@CraigTube You do realize that Glutamic acid is a natural byproduct in that cheese you just dumped all over those fries smothered in gravy? MSG is derived from glutamic acid, allergic reactions are to MSG are anecdotal and have no medical / scientific backings.
@CraigTube as they say "a little knowlege is a dangerous thing" I'm with you on this buddy, the masses have been fed foods that give them a 'rush' without being properly informed of the altered content. Here in the UK most companies were 'outed' for using MSG and people voted with thier feet and a lot of those products have been taken from the shelves. One of our top chefs led a campaign in UK schools for that very same reason.
@trvekvltBurzum Being 'interested in' and being an 'expert on' are worlds appart. Adding MSG is altering natural state, long term effects are seriously not good for you.
@trvekvltBurzum oh gollly gee we have ourselves a troll...hey stupid, I dont care how you live or how you die...eat your MSG and be certain to warm it up in a BPA container...watch the video and enjoy you dumbass!!
the distinction between natural and unnatural is a false dichotomy touted by the ignorant ,he's not a troll he's just pointing out the facts ,facts that have gone *wooooooooooosh * over your head ,lols
