@MsAfricanIndian I haven't trim my hair in three years till recently. The request by the salon was to only take of the damaged hair (phase 1). And she didnt take much out, so I guess I can conclude that trimming hair often is not necessary (in my case).

@dianey55 A lot of companies are not donating cut hair. They actually sell it to wig makers. A lot of times 1 ponytail is not enough to make a wig. Just letting you know. BTW. Your hair is to die for. Just Gorgeous

@ASGREENE123, Dude, there are alot of African/African Descent women that can have long hair and are not mixed. Race doesn't play a role on having long hair, it's how you take care of it. Anybody can have long hair regardless of race especially full blown African/African descent people

@Hikaru2g she stated that she flat ironed it 'lightly' hence the brackets in the title. the rest of her videos her hair looks pretty much the same more of a 3a - 2c hair type (google it). i never said there was anything wrong with being african descent. And the people yu claim to know- that you seem to classify as having "pretty" hair, that are "full blooded Africans"- how do you know who there ascendant or ancestors are or where they truly come from to come to a conclusion like that.

@ChelleyFresh01, That's the whole point it shouldn't matter what what race the person that has long hair. The fact remains anybody can have long hair regardless. I'm only pointing out, not to long ago a very disturbed individual made a very bigoted comment that "African/African descent have it their DNA that they can't have long hair" So I pointed it out this individual that she's wrong and I explained and gave her proof but then she went ballistic. When I see that? there's a problem

@Hikaru2g i totally get what your trying to say, but thats not the case here, because this person that made the comment " hair looks nice, do you have indian in your family" did not say or assume anything of African descent not being able to grow long hair, in fact it wasnt even brought up, she just asked if she had indian in her family, simple. she could be talking about the texture of her hair not the length, so in that sense you're kind of judging that, that is the conclusion to her question

That's the insane thing and sadly this isn't the first time I've came across disturbing individuals that said that "Mixed black people can have long hair and full African/African descent can't." The good news is that there are a lot of African/African American women crushing this stereotype. People need to point out attitudes like that because enough is enough.

@Hikaru2g That is so true. There are a lot of videos i have come across on you tube with black women that have extremely thick or kinky hair that is very long and waist length long. That aren't the stereotypical so called mixed, curly haired black woman with long hair. If you are a black woman and your hair is thick or i guess kinky, there are other African American women with very textured long hair so get inspired by. They have videos on how to take care of your natural hair and grow it.
