  • no i have an accent listen to my videos because i am from maine!!!

  • Im from Colorado and I definately hear that you are from the Boston area. It isn't as pronounced as others I have heard but it is there.

  • Ahaha, no! You have a midwestern accent.

  • you pronounce your R's way to strongly for Boston, or even New England for that matter.

  • when you said "boston" you definitely sound like you have a boston accent but that's about it

  • No sorry man. I don't hear it. I live in Plymouth, And every one in my family including me have a very strong accent.

  • you slightly do im from florida and have family in Boston

  • this video is wicked retahdid

  • nah! you say Barstin I say Bawstin

  • XD you have an accent, its not pure but I heard it. lol

  • Boston, North Shore, South Shore, Cape, Central, Western. 6 Massachusetts accents. And subsets in each of those. Some people can actually tell what town you live in just from how you say certain words or how you phrase things. This goes for pretty much EVERY accent in American English. What they (television) decided is the 'baseline' American accent?: Midwest (Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin)

  • You don't think that you have a Bahston accent?? Listen to yourself say Boston! You may not pahk a cah, but you definitely say Bahston.

  • Nnn.. You speak through your nose, but you pronounce your 'r's. I didn't hear the words 'rehtahded' or 'wicked' from you either, so, no.

  • you do not have a boston accent, you pronounce your r's you just have a new england accent

  • also, on the FYI tip, if an out of towner ever asked me to say "park the car in harvard yard" they'd be looking for their teeth over on Queer Street. sorry..."Queeah Street."

  • nah, no accent. i was born and raised in dorchester, i know 'em when i hear 'em!

  • I have a Boston accent, and I'm sick of hearing everyone ask me where I'm from......

  • everybody's making a big deal acting like the idea of you having a Boston accent is a joke. anyone whose actually from Boston knows that not everyone from Boston speaks with the "pahhk the cahh". that's just the epitome of the boston accent. on top of that, the boston accent isn't all about "pahhk the cahh"...that's just what it's most famous for. there's a lotttt of other little things

i can definitely see a tint of the boston accent in your voice yeah.

  • No, I don't hear it.

  • ro im from boston and u do not have a boston accent lmao go bak were u came from

  • if you had an accent you would not live an hour and a half away from boston. probably a southiee

  • fuk no ahm bostonian ahn you sound like normal. no accent at all. i know a bostonian when ah hear one.

  • Let me tell u that u soooooo don't have a boston accent. I live really close to boston and like everyone in my family has one so I know.

  • no accent

  • boooooooo!!!!

  • Yeah it's a light accent

  • That girl must be WICKED reTAHded if she thinks you've got a Boston accent.

  • Dude, it's the people that live outside of Boston (with the exceptions of Southie and Dorchester) that have the accents... are you south shore?

  • The music makes it difficult to hear the voice...

  • After listening to it again - YOU DO NOT EVEN HAVE A NEW ENGLAND ACCENT!!!

You sound like you're from fucking, Ohio, or some shit...you have no accent.

You're PRONOUNCING words...the first rule in the Boston & New England accent is to talk a mile-a-minute, smoosh words together, & sound incoherent!

  • dont

  • lol nahh you aint got a boston accent, i wouldnt have guessed u was from near boston if u didnt say u were a hour n a half away

  • there's no accent on you brotha

  • You have a N.E. accent but not a Boston brogue

  • You're right, you don't have aBoston accent!

  • HAHAHAHAHA I actually started to smile when i was listening to him. To people from not Ma. it sound to them like we all have an accent, but to us from around here u don't.

  • You've picked up how people from MA/New England say "Boston" with that lovely softer o sound for the intial o, but that's it. You don't have it at all otherwise. Why would someone presumably not from MA who's now moved to NC be qualified to judge if it's a Boston accent? She's probably just heard some adjustments to your speech and subconsciously assumed that it must be a Boston accent because you're near Boston and a lot of us speak "neutrally" - e.g. Damon and Affleck for outsiders.

  • You don't. We just can't tell where the fuck to put our R's. We subtract them from words like 'car' and some people just tack them right on to words like 'idea.'

    Car = Cah

    Idea = Idear

  • mass accent def.

  • You sound like you're from New England, but the only thing missing is p

  • I live in New Hampshire where a lot of people have a new england accent, which is basically the same thing as a boston accent, and i don't hear one at all in this video..

  • Ehhh... slightly, but not really. There's just the tiniest slightest bit of boston accent there, just hardly.

  • you dont. u sound like u live south of boston (thats where i live) and our accents barely exhist

  • I'm from around Boston and have lived here all my life. And I have to say you don't have a Boston accent to my ears you sound southern. But you pronuce your r's so you don't have a Boston accent.

  • no you dont people that have boston accents dont pronounce thier Rs and you do pronuce your Rs

  • you don't

  • Not nearly as thick in my opinion. But you do say Boston in the same way they do :-D

I'm the rare person that actually loves Boston accents.

  • You have no Boston accent. I am from Boston.

  • trust me buddy you do not have an accent

  • Comment removed

  • you have like.. a western mass accent .. which when heard from out of state pppl can be confused with a boston accent

  • dude cool i fucking love nirvana..wasnt expecting that :) also fuckin love boston accents

  • Im in Fitchburg ,MA and you do not have our accent... tell her to "getovait" one word four syllables "get over it" for the people of the world that need more -= letta's=- to communicate....

  • By Boston accent they mean new england accent

  • yu pronounce ya r's while i use an a in use of an r. no boston accent for yu

  • You have no Boston accent lol.. I'm from Seattle, WA.. I would know:P

  • Nah, you really don't. Not that I can hear anyway. But, that said, I live all the way down in Maryland. And I don't have a full on accent, but I do inflect a couple words really heavily. Like "awn" for "on", "foiine" for "fine", and "ahranges". I was JUST informed of this xDD

  • you dont have a boston accent

  • I don't hear a Boston accent but you have some accent. That being said I grew up an hour from Boston and have one of the thickest Boston accents around so you never know.

  • No accent. Your voice might've changed a bit, which isn't unheard of, but you have too much of the "r" in your voice. Instead of argument, it woulda sounded like "ahgument" , etc.

  • u sound like a faggot yuppie from fuckin duxbury, ur friends a retard

  • im from ma too and your dialect is simalar to mine. but ive been auditioning for college recently and people always ask if im from boston because of my accent.

    its wicked dumb. hahaha

  • You don't have a Boston accent, your friend doesn't know shit.

  • you have to say some new england phrases like "get out of here" aka "getadahea" and how do you say "retarded" cause then we could really tell, im a fellow New Englander (new hampshire) and you sound like you have a slight accent but its not that bad.

  • you dont have a boston accent

  • as a fellow bostonian just remember you dont have the accent they do!! :)

  • you posted this so long ago but i'll still tell you that i don't think you have a boston accent.. "computerrrrrrr.... arrrrrguments" there was way too much R sounds in those words.. western mass maybe.. but not in or around the city

  • South Mass accent, not Boston. People just tell you Boston. You don't say Boston with a Boston accent dude.

  • This guy sounds like he hails from the neighborhood of retardoville ... Feel sorry for the girl he talks to from South Carolina .. she must be bored to tears from this guy .

  • ya but i moved to cali so i lost most of it

  • ya i from boston and you dont have one maybe a newengland just a light one thought

  • ok im from VA and I think you have a SLIGHT accent on some of the words...I need to hear you say, "Who the fuck is she? I oughta fucking slap her" then I could tell

  • @ArmyRose88 lmao

  • It's a soft NE accent.

    *CL*

  • noo you dont.

  • It's not pronounced "Baaawsten" either...

it's more like Posston, or Bawstin, with a somewhat silent T on the latter...

  • You don't...

    You said South Carolina...

    It's pronounced "South Caroliner".

if it ends with an "A", we put an "R" at the end...

  • @asmorgan88 I have a Boston accent and I pronounce Carolina like Caralina.

  • @XGGX9384

Well then you, along with the chap in this video, do not have Boston accents...!

It's a very specific accent, different from the rest of the New England region...if you're not from Dorchester, Charlestown, or Quincy, you don't have a Boston accent.

People from Boston, Worcester, Lynn, Springfield, Haverhill, New Hampshire, Maine & Rhode Island all have different accents...

Furthermore, the "Boston" accent you hear on TV & in films, is NOWHERE NEAR what the real thing is.

  • Don't forget that the producers of Buffy told eliza dushku to play up her "Boston (actually Watertown) accent"

There are two components to a Boston accent: The Brogue, and an underlying way of speaking. If you have just the latter, people will spot you as from Boston, even though it is invisible to native Bostonians. Its not just the brogue.

Born in Boston, raised in Nort Cambridge

  • u DEF dont have a boston accent. i live near boston and i dont hear any of it in ur voice.

  • barely.

  • not at all im from the boston area and not even a hint of new england in your voice!! sounds like california or somewhere that doesnt have an accent at all

  • I think you have a LITTLE bit of it trying to sneak through every now and then. Are you originally from the East Coast?

  • maybe lyke a uh Matt Damon Boston accent from The Departed or Good Will Hunting.

  • No, from what I heard, no.

  • You don't sound like you have a boston accent at all!

  • lol,you sound a bit like ur from new jersey, but the only word you sounded like you could b from boston was the word boston.other than that,u dont sound like u hav a boston accent :D

  • @kristophyne My best friend is from Jersey and he sounds nothing like him. I say daw'da = daughter... Jersey says door'der. I say Waw'da = water. Jersey Woor'der. I don't hear a Jersey accent at all.

  • If you live an hour and a half from boston and you live in Massachusetts than you either live on the cape or close to me. Im in Lenox, Ma.

  • north adams here. very close 2 uuuu

  • you have a new england accent.

  • I live very close, and no you don't. If your friends don't live near Boston than there probably not use to it so they just say you have the Boston accent, I would know almost everyone who I live with and knows has one.

  • Haha no you don't! I am from theya! if your from heya then you dont say ya Rs right

  • lol u dont have accent u wanna hear one listen to me i fukin live theah

  • new england maybe. not boston. trust me buddy, from west roxbury.. that isnt close. I think you might be thinking of a southie accent but no sir.

  • you deffinately dont my neighbor grew up in boston and its not even close you sound like you could be from western mass but deffinately not boston

  • HAHAHHAHAA ABSOLUTELY NOT you deff. don't have an accent...

  • sorry bud you dont have one most people who have them outside the city got it from their parents or they work in the city and get it over time

  • i think you have a slight accent, not fully but a bit

  • you live 1 1/2 outside boston. i live like less than half an hour away in a North Shore city and alot of ppl have it. They have the accent big time in Swampscott, Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Saugas, & Salem

  • Abosolutly no Boston accent. It sounds midwestern.

  • Not at all.....

  • name of the song?

  • It's in the description, "Dumb" by Nirvana.

  • The way you said "developed" is Bostonian. Definitely. You said "duh-velupped." Other than that, not really.

If you look at my videos, I have no sign of an accent as far as I know. My friend who moved to Alabama 4 years ago seems to think otherwise. You be the judge.

  • Don't worry about it, you woulda said "pref-rah-blee", not "pree-fer-a-blee"

  • Yeahhh!

  • no you would say BASTAN in sted of boston and u pernouce your R's

  • no you dont

  • Not that I'm an expert, considering I'm British, but I'd say that wasn't a Boston accent. My cousins however, are from Boston and you sound nothing like them.

  • Nope....

  • No way dude your not even close to havin a boston accent.

  • No, you don't have a boston accent man.

  • NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!

  • naaa no boston accent trust me my neighbahs from boston. I picked it up from her

  • Nope,not a Boston accent.

  • Naaa u dont have the Boston Accent =(

  • I'm from the greater boston area - but you don't have a boston accent at ALL.

    We say "ow-a" for hour.

  • you definitely don't have the actual accent. i can kinda see what she could mean, you might have a little bit of a boston attitude maybe. not being from boston i can kinda see why she would think that

  • Dude what are you talking about you have no boston accent whatsoever. I've lived in MA my whole life I think I would know. You don't sound like your from the northeast even.

  • Yeah, dude sounds like he's from the midwest or somewhere out there.

  • I agree with erin23kate. I'm from boston and I can normally tell if your boston or not. You sound more midwestern, but not boston. And when you said I , you did not say ah, but instead eye. But I can still tell where your friend is coming from. Its the midwestern she's hearing.

  • nope not at all

  • No way dude. You definately do not have a Boston accent. Not even a little.

  • you know how i can tell you dont? sounds like you have an accent to me. i knew as soon as you said "years"

  • you don't really have one... there were a few words where there was subtle Boston undertones... but you definitely don't have the accent... not in any discernible way, anyways.

  • U AINT BOSTONIAN

  • well eveyone from new egland has on but the people from like southie has alot stornger of an accent

  • Living in southie my whole life and hearing just this video i can say you dont have an accent not anywhere near the kind i have and people around here have. So id say no

  • you sound like your from CT

  • Well, I'm from New Hampshire and I don't think you have a normal 'New England' accent. But it's not 100% Boston, either.

You're an accent mutt, my dear. (:

  • No, you don't. You said "computer" not "computa" - which is what I say.

You do, however, say "Bahstin", not "Boston"....which marks you as midwestern more than anything.

  • I've lived all my life in the Boston area. You do not have even a Massachusetts accent.

  • You sound like you have some kind of accent(I'm not sure what) but it's not bostonian

  • You had to have grown up here to really have a "true" Boston accent. There are only a few Hollywood actors that can pull off the accent, for instance, Alec Baldwin in the "Departed" sounded totally forced. We can easily sniff out somebody trying to pull it off. It is not just about dropping the R'S in your sentences. By the way , you have NO Boston accent, nor would anybody living an hour away from the city. GO SOX!!!!!!!

  • No accent whatsoever.

  • well yes he does..

  • You... have an American accent :]

Be happy, it's way better than mine (New Zealand... we can't pronounce vowels correctly, talk too fast and mumble)

  • youre pronouncing ur r's u DEFINATLY dont have the accent dude

  • No Way man... trust me i'm from massachusetts, I don't have much of an accent though (unfortunently) but i go to boston alot and there is no accent there, you need to pronounce your r's like ah, for example Nomar is Nomah

  • nah u dont sound like u com from anyweah neah boston, sorry we aint ahl perfect lol

  • you sound like someone from sienfield.. or just someone generally in the new york area or where ever the baseball team Cubs are from. thats your accent. :)

  • Definitely zero accent whatsoever. Meanwhile, why do you want people NOT from MA to respond? They wouldn't know what a genuine accent sounds like.

Anyway, at least you're not one of those people who fake an accent; it's obvious and annoying.

  • No You dont!

  • very little hint of it however you are prouncing your r"ss

  • you sound like u have a northern accent.

  • You don't even sound like you're from anywhere in New England to me. You've got a hell of a long way before you're saying "larr enfoacement."

  • i live in southie....trust me u dont have a boston accent

  • No... DEFINITELY no accent.

  • you do not have a boston accent guy

  • You don't have a boston accent.

  • i didnt hear anything that sounded like a boston accent. And i live in mass.

  • thank you, finally somebody who agrees with me

  • its probably the audio quality, but it seems like something's funky with your nasals...like sometimes it sounds like you have a cold and sometimes it sounds like you're being too nasal. but that's not really boston. i didn't hear anything definitely bostony... heck, maybe she's comparing you to southern speakers and noticed something different.

  • well at the time i did have a cold, but i sound a lot different in person than i do on the video
