i have been noticing that when i skip in the end i tend to go to the right a bit..i am a left footed kicker. Should I be skipping more forward than the side? I feel like I have way more distance to get on my kicks but I just wanted to get your input.
@soccerdrummer234 that's actually rather normal. I'm a lefty too (Coach Brent) and skipping down the line and a little to the right is 'correct' if you will. However, if you are not following through 'down the line' at all and just falling off to the right then that is bad. If that's the case, focus more on weight transfer and balance at/through impact.
When i lock the knee and straighten out my foot I get a solid conact with the ball, but my problem is that I am slightly kicking the ground before contact with the ball. How can I fix this? I feel like I need to shave down the bottom of my kicking cleat, even though its only half inch. Is this something I'm missing?
@elitetrafficflow It could be your swing angle. Try swinging more 'back and through' versus 'up and down'. A field goal should have a natural arch that opens and closes a little. Check out the book on our site or if you're close to a camp location or lesson, sign up for one. All info on our website!
i started kicking wrong and i messed up my leg. my lower half of my leg is rotated outward and my foot too. i sprained my knee and ankle kicking this way. but i started kcki with proper form and now im getting good kicks but im having trouble locking my knee and ankle
This video showed me something I've been doing wrong since I was a kid; I was making contact with the wrong part of my foot. I would hit the ball with the side of my toes or on the top of the toes, which was wrong. Not only can that cause injury (And did), but the twisting back of your foot robs energy from the kick, costing you power. And it's a rather soft part of your foot.
Today I was using the hard bone in my instep and I was friggin LAUNCHING the thing! Thanks for these tips.

@PHStatic We are all over the U.S. The closest to PA (as of 2010) would be Toms River, New Jersey. But who knows, we may be in PA in the future.
