What the hell ever happened to stadium trucks? Anybody know where I can find some good ol' stadium truck racing? You remember, Ivan Stewart and I don't recall the guy who drove the Ford. I really miss those stadium trucks.
i miss these days. the openings for 1989 were a little better in my opinion. espn, abc and fom ALL had some kick ass openings from 87 to 93. i never understood why you had to change something if you couldn't do a better job by doing so.
i can remember sitting with my dad when i was 5 yrs old and getting goose bumps every time i heard this music and saw the multi colored boxes that represented cars on track. when i saw this here it happened all over again thanks ;)
Absolutely, cny! I was unfortunately such a couch potato back then, and I'd live for this stuff. The theme music, as soon as it started, would divert my atention from even a nuke attack, and I'd get chills.
ESPN was the motorsports mecca back then when they have Nascar, F1, Sportscars, Off-Road Racing, Indy Cars, etc...... Now ESPN has only two main series of Nascar and Drag Racing.
No, you aren't. They may have done the voice over for all the big stuff, but little things like the Toyota Pro-Celeberty race, they didn't. The story behind this was the race I wanted was not this one, but the one after it, and my mom and I (when I was 8) had to go shopping. So she hit record on a blank tape, and got both races.
Since the 1980's, ESPN broadcasts with (at least) two audio tracks: English and M&E, which stands for Music and Effects. M&E tracks are also created for every single Hollywood movie to enable tranlation into different languages.
I was born in 1987, so I'm too young to remember this one, but one of my earliest memories of watching racing is the shortened version of this intro that was used from 1988-1993, the one that didn't show the footage from all the different series. I loved seeing those animated cars race around the animated track!
ESPN does broadcast good IZOD racing today.... but thats the only good part for racing....

Now it sucks balls. Whatever happened to Saturday night thunder? Sneaking out of bed to watch F1 at 5:00am every sunday?
I miss those days. ESPN back then was like when MTV still played music videos. It was real. Now its corporate (translation:sucks balls).

How did you get this without voice over? I may be really stupid, but I thought that ESPN always had a voiceover during this?

Ok thank you. Haha, I am sort of known for asking questions that can be considered dumb, so thats why i worded it the way I did lol.

Yeah, now we have to hear some shitty pop music during the races. I miss the epic theme music from the old Speed World days.
