he does have some good songs... but i agree he does tend to use little too much Panning/sidechaining... and loops well known samples a little too much at times.

i prefer hardware (MPC FTW) it builds character... original Funky/Filtered House was built on Sp1200s/MPC60s and Tr909s... bring that back.

you could do it on a laptop + ableton, or any other software with a sampler. or you can use a hardware sampler like the mpc or the asr.
