The only thing Iron Chef America has over the original is the expression of the chairman as he reveals the secret ingredient. Otherwise, the original Japanese version > American version

@Crawkid "Iron Chef Japan" is what FineLiving and the Food Network called it so viewers in the West would easily identify it. That is the official Western name for the show so the uploader is not just pulling stuff out of their ass.

I'm sorry. I didn't know this. When I was watching it here in America -on food network none the less- I've never seen it called Iron Chef Japan.Ever. So I wouldn't know that other westerners knew it as iron chef japan.

That is so true about the soundtrack being edited out. I understand that it costs a good penny to get Universal to lend the copyrights to use soundtracks, but FLN did not do a good job preserving that big battle feel that Iron Chef Japan originally had. Now it feels lifeless, no soul, and feels out of place for a big battle show like Iron Chef.

When I found out the Backdraft soundtrack was edited out of Iron Chef, my jaw dropped and my heart sank. As I said in another comment, I knew rights issues would play into this. However I have no desire to ask my cable company to get Fine Living.

Iron Chef w/o Backdraft soundtrack loses a big part of the spectacle of watching the original Japanese program.
