@ElectricGuitarManPL Yeah, it's a nice piece, but pretty hard to do as a multitrack because of the extremely tight timing. I usually prefer homophonic arrangements, which are much easier to sing layer by layer. ;-)
So I've always loved this style of music. After I hear stuff like this, I feel like today's music industry has it wrong - I'd love to hear this on the radio. Sometimes I feel like an old soul (when it comes to music). Keep it up! I'm eagerly awaiting a full version of this song! *fingers crossed* :D
I will pay you to sing the whole song. It's one of my all time favorite barbershop songs and you, by far, do it the best out of any other..ehm..."group" on youtube.
@922Thumper Happy birthday to you! I also sang a 4-part harmony to the "Happy Birthday" song (just look-up "happy birthday trudbol" and you'll find it). Cheers ;-)
I always loved listening to you sing this song! So I was so happy when I was playing Mafia II and heard someone start singing it; I was trying to recreate singing it four part barbershop... I'll just let you be the one to sing it from now on.
AWESOME JOB! EVERYONE--vote Julien KING of the WEBBBB! Hurry! He has a chance to win $ to bring us more fantastic music!!!! Click on the box in his video!
@Tyuo2010 It depends on the objective: I guess it's the lead and the bass that the audience hears the most and remembers, perhaps the tenor at the end if there's a high note. But in terms of blend, it's the baritone I prefer, because nobody knows he's there yet he creates the magic, kind of like a goal keeper in soccer, you only notice him when he's not there or doing a poor job. ;-)
@MerryMilkmaid Thank you! I actually do have a CD. Just drop me a line and I'll give you the details. I also have a few singles on iTunes (just look for "trudbol" and you'll find me). Cheers ;-)

I wish I could sing bass. Maybe every now and then out of nowhere I'll be able to hit those low notes, and it surprises me. Lol :p But generally I'm doomed to never be my own one man barbershop quartet... Then again my singing career is limited to the shower.
Anyway, keep up the awesome work, and I'm totally waiting for the full version of this! :)

@KirinCZ Thank you! Yes, I plan on recording the full song, I just have many other projects going on at the moment, but I will definitely get to it. ;-)
@bsa139 Thanks! Yes, I get that comment a lot (about it being to short), and I plan on re-singing it completely, now that I have better equipment. I just have a lot on my plate at the moment, but I'll get there. Stay tuned! ;-)
Whaa, I just pressed the "repeat" button and listened to it for nearly 2 hours! I really love it, it makes me smile and you did a wonderful record! =)
@OutOfaBlueSky Thanks! No it's all "natural", meaning I didn't pitch correct it. I did apply some EQing, by boosting the fundamental frequencies on the bass track. I also didn't record the tracks the same day and had a deeper voice for the low ones. ;-)
@ganthonyvr It's called split screen. You'll find tutorial videos for this on YouTube, it's very easy with "Sony Vegas" video editing programs. Cheers

@chunksthemonkey1 Haha, sorry ... and thanks! Yes, I plan to sing the whole tune. I just have lots of other songs I'd like to do as well, but I'll do a full version of this one for sure. Cheers and thanks for commenting.
@trlkly Thank you! Yes, I really like old school barbershop, with its simple, catchy tunes and rich, full voices. So I'm really flattered you feel I'm into this style of music, because you're on the spot! Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting.
Would you mind if I ask how you learned to do the tenor like that? That's the part that sounds so old-timey. The only time I hear that type of tenor nowadays is if I'm watching William Frawley (Fred Mertz) sing on I Love Lucy on TVLand.
It's a type of voice I've always been fascinated by. It has both a kind of (for lack of a better word) whiny sound--which would normally be bad--yet it sounds so warm and lush.
@trlkly I'm not sure In understand what you mean by "whiny". I am not trying to sing in a certain way, I just sing with my normal voice. It so happens that I'm a tenor, so perhaps you hear that voice more distinctly than the other three. What I like about old-school barbershop is that the singers had lyrically trained voices, with vibrato, deep and high frequencies, and a very recognizable tone of voice. Modern barbershop groups all sound the same to me : pitch perfect, screamy and very tense.
@trudbol I can think of two ways of explaining it. One is that your vocal placement is further forward, into the mask, if you must. As you pointed out, it has a lot of high resonances. Your upper formants are very pronounced.
Another might be to compare to other instruments. A clarinet, or even an oboe if you want to go too far, has a "whinier' sound, while a trumpet has a darker sound--unless you put a mute on it, which brightens the sound back up.
@trlkly I see what you mean and I agree, I really sing too much in my mouth and don't leave room for resonance in my pharynx. I just started taking vocal lessons and am learning to place my larynx appropriately to get a deeper more relaxed sound, but there's a long a way to go still. I can hear the difference between my old "OO" vowel and the new one. It's hard to learn and perform at the same time, but I'll get there. Thanks for your feedback! Cheers
@trudbol The thing is, I like that sound. As long as it isn't hurting your voice, I hope you keep the ability to sing in that manner. The best singers can change the color of their sound on a whim.
You honestly sound like the barbershops of old. And I didn't hear of any of them losing their voice over it or anything.
That was the best one so far I have found on you tube. I considered doing that same thing and doing all the parts. I am w/ rkmgen. How 'bout doin' the whole song.
@rkmugen Yes, I plan to do it. I have a whole bunch of other projects going on at the moment, but this one is in the to do list! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more a cappella tunes! Cheers
@theGLASSEZ Thank you. Check out the info section of my channel for answer to your questions. I used a Zoom H4n USB stand-alone recording device. It's one of my best electronic buys of the past couple of years, no doubt! Cheers
@revraptor0 Thanks! I will do the full song, I just need a little bit of time to finish up on other projects I've started, but I most definitely will. Cheers and thanks for dropping a line.
@trudbol Hooray!!! I just read that you'll be doing the full song!! Can't tell you how HAPPY that makes me (and apparently a lot of other people too!). This song is awesome! You are awesome! Therefore, your version of this song = PERFECTION!! :D
@ImaginaryMdA Hehe, it's a pleasure getting such nice feedback, it's the least I can do to let you know I'm reading your comments! Cheers and stay tuned for more acappella tunes!
ahhhhh! I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS TRACK!!! Love, love, love it! The harmony is so tight! My only complaint is that it is too short! Also, the bass is sexy!! ;)

@theGLASSEZ Thank you. Check out the info section of my channel for answer to your questions. I used a Zoom H4n USB stand-alone recording device. It's one of my best electronic buys of the past couple of years, no doubt! Cheers

ahhhhh! I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS TRACK!!! Love, love, love it! The harmony is so tight! My only complaint is that it is too short! Also, the bass is sexy!! ;)
