I truly thank Daniel Kahl for his brave and sincere messanges to all of us. We should never overreact to various forms of misinformation. I think we are now getting ourselves tested: How calm we can remain amid one of the worst nuclear crises throughout the world. Can we judge things properly? Our correct judgement will help the situations get better. At the same time I strongly criticize the media for spreading the hysteria. Mr. Kahl's messages are borderless.
my family came to my home scared, but the want to go back to their home, Japan, they miss their friends. Is it true water is been rationed in Tokyo? or is this bad information. what about bread and milk? THANKS A LOT FOR YOU VIDEOS.
I tell my family she should go back, I believe it'll be ok, and we all have to help the real affected people up north.
I´ve been wondering why they build their reactors so close to the sea, couldn´t they use some of the energy to pump seawater a couple miles inland ? A 9.0 RS is a very big one for sure but perhaps it should not have been that much of a surprise, the 1960 quake in Chile was bigger. Japs know s/th about quake proof housing, & I´d think a nuclear facility on their own soil is probably the No. 1 candidate to exploit their expertise. Were the reactors not designed to weather quake + ensuing tsunami ?
Yesterday I introduced your video clip to Twitter also addressing to you, and Facebook. One of American friends of mine thanked me for the introduction of your video. You are great!
Thank you, Daniel-san. Your video helped to calm down a friend of mine who has a Japanese wife.
There was an immediate movement of support from local students at Mission San Jose High in California. I witnessed their benefit concert. I will give you the video.
@kokuu - "SOME of the foreign media " we have found some of CNN's reporting to be excellent, probing & informative. We have taken the good with the bad & net researched ourselves. With most major incidents the hard facts are always hard to come by.But the truth usually comes out later.
@ayreism I didn't mean to imply that all were misrepresenting or distorting. My point was that that news I'm hearing from friends and family, along with personal research, is in stark contrast to what some have claimed. I'm sorry if it came off as an attack, that was not my intention.
This is a good video, calmingly informative. There is however nothing new about the tabloids being ridiculous they have always been.As for the plant at Fukushima they have had issues in the past. Safety etc.. And I am sure all will be revealed when governing bodies are able to investigate further. For now those wonderful workers in harms way are in my thoughts.
Mr. Daniel Kahl is well known TV personality in Japan, he even speaks the dialect of the north-eastern region.
Many Japanese in the states appreciate what you're doing, Daniel. It reenforces what our relatives and friends over there have been saying, vs other foreign media that have been painting things in a bad light.
Thank you for all your hard work! I can't wait to see you again on Your Japanese Kitchen when programming resumes!
Considering just how dangerous the situation became and could have become, this seems awfully complacent. I don't think being a cheerleader for Japanese officialdom helps prevent this from occuring again.
Also portyraying the "foreign press" as some sinister anti-Japan anti-nuclear conspiracy is ridiculous, and really whitewashes the situation. I think "trust" us loses its credibility when they were this close to losing control of these reactors and all the safety backups failed.
"they are giving us a play by play"? Like they did before over and over again? And a minute later the same behaviour is "insulting"? Sorry Daniel, this sounds like "heavy drugs" to me. Why don't you tell us what you think while having a glass of water or a shower?
The only positive way to deal with this katastrophe is to think about alternatives to nuklear power. plenty of solutions that can be handled in a earthquake region - definately not nuke based if beautiful Japan is to survive.
@b08m4rt1n it's about criticism regarding TEPCO & gov.. he admits "play by play" then gets upset that others complain about just that. Can you criticise the western media for writing the truth? TEPCO is responsable for this tragedy. Daniels engagement for sure is professional, mostlikely working for Tepco. He would be more credible if he disclosed his motives.
I'm kind of curious, is it really the Japanese people themselves expressing disgust at the anti-nuclear biased portrayal of the events? See, I'm very used to hearing this kind of stuff from the pro-nuclear blogging circuit, but I'm pretty sure you have nothing to do with nuclear.
I always got the feeling Tepco was fairly universally hated, especially after the data falsification scandals, but I think this is a case where the enemy of one's enemy is not their friend.
Great videos!! I live in Tokyo and indeed, it's been really quiet today (well, yesterday, anyway). You're absolutely right, watching the news and the press conferences, the government and NISA are providing and allowing access to a huge amount of data regarding radiations, fallout, radioactivity in the tap water, etc. They deserve full credit for their openness. I just wished they'd give more keys to interpreting this mass of information and the ins ans outs of all this... it's quite confusing.

HI,
We definately agree with all you said,
I published your trhee message on my facebook page,
YOU REALLY HAVE IN YOUR HEART THE JAPANEESE PEOPLE AND COUNTRY.
These days is difficult among us foreigners to think like this.
I am an Italian citizen married with a Japaneese woman from Yamagata,
We live in Perugia , Italy but at least once a year we go back to Yamagata, a place that I love.
Do not hesitate to ask me anything I can do from here for this situation
Ciao
Dott. Thomas Placidi
