Tone, tradition and innovation. Fender's new American Deluxe Telecaster is the 21st century way to rock with a Telecaster. The compound radius freeboard allows effortless string bending anywhere along the neck, and staggered locking tuners improve tuning stability for stunt guitarists who like to bend behind the nut. I went to guitar center to get a guitar and could not decide. I kept going back for about 2 weeks trying different ones but I kept coming back to the telecaster. It was the best sound guitar out of all of them so I ended up buying a mexican tele and I love it. I play hardcore punk... but whatever I play.... blues, metal, punk, experimental shit....this guitar sounds great for all
I've got a 2000 mim, and I love it! By the way, Fender switched to hotter wound Ceramic pickups in 2006, as opposed to the vintage wound Alnico V pickups on earlier ones like Mine. Ceramic= better for heavy distortion, but somewhat muddy when played clean. Alnico=sweeter clean tone, but needs more overdrive to get heavy distortion. Something to consider when shopping for one.
@tumbleoverandlaugh This has extremely warm tones. It is very FULL as well. Depending on your amp, you can achieve it all with this guitar. I wouldn't try saturated heavy metal tones with the stock pickups. But great for anything Rock or punk. Tip. To dirty it up a little, raise the back pickup.
@nmssis I know that the Squier line has very cheap wood and is the cheaper end of the Fender line. If you are a tone junkie, I would go with the real deal. The Telecaster line is an amazing line of guitars.
it wasnt always the case if you get a can find a 20th anniversary squier tele they rock ive had my one for 10 years and it still plays well and the pickups are custom shop fender pickups which give a great clapton like tone but i do agree that the new made in indonesia teles are awfull i bought a new standard 4 years ago and i put it in the cupboard and never took it out again the mexican and american teles are good just change the pickups 4 texas specials or something similar
hey guys, i have a question. im in the market for a new quitar and i really want a tele. the two im looking at is this one (fender sandard telecaster MIM), and the Fender Blacktop Telecaster. both cost the same, but have sound differences. i just started jazz band in my school, so i want to play some jazzy stuff, and at home i like to play harder rock stuff by the foo fighters, joe satriani, etc. Ive heared tele's arent good for rockish stuff, and i;ve heared they are. Please help!
@RawrGuitar1022 This would be a great guitar for you. You have heard wrong. Tele's are GREAT for rock but not metal. If you are looking for a super gained out Tone the single coil in the back will be problematic. I would advise a tele that has a double coil in the back or replace the stock back pickup with a HOT-RAIL. I have a Hot-rail in the back of my Fender Stratocaster and it has a great solid sound but I still have the stock front and mid pickups for Jazz or Blues.
my friend, you should buy the blacktop tele. humbuckers are awesome with jazz but is amazing with rock of all genres.. who the fuck told you that? can i plz kill the guy? :D
why do you think that kurt cobain, Richie Sambora etc. use it?
These mex yelecasters are really nice. I bought a used one in like-new condition. You need to change out the pickups but everything considered, they have really gotten the quality down. I can't see spending 1k or more for an American tele.
I make music (electronic stuff) but I was thinking of getting a guitar to add a bit of depth to my music. Only thing is I can't play. I was wondering would this be a good guitar to learn on or would it be wasted on a beginner like myself? I do like the sound.
@reverbunit -Actually the construction on the Japanese ones is arguably better than the American ones and their prices show it. They often cost more than new.
@badboyrhythmdub A mexico Std Tele is a great first guitar. if you pick up a used one you can probably sell it for the same amount you bought it for if you ever grow tired playing guitar or if you find out that you'd like something different tonevise or whatever. its easier to learn and more fun to play if your guitar isn't crap, so it's not in any way wasted. but if you still unsure check out the Squier Classic Vibes - they're a few dollars less and just as good. And much better pickups imho.

@reverbunit The French metal band Gojira will be releasing a new album soon. On the album will be proof that the Tele does in fact do metal.
