Recorded with ONE microphone on ONE track in ONE take.
If this was made now, everyone would have laid down a separate track (including the guitar) and there would have been compression, autotune and god-knows what the fuck else.
Thanks for posting this film clip! I particularly like the Mills Brothers using their voices to imitate the sounds of instruments. And I also like the rapping (talking) segment. While the reference to Black men as "boy" dates this film, I think that it's such a musical gem that it's still worthy of being shown -hopefully with an explanation of the history of that "boy" referent. Also this video could be shown in French classes in the USA & elsewhere since it has French subtitles. Thanks again!
@Oshunlife, I agree. It's a shame that few people nowadays know the Mills Brothers recordings. I just became aware of them by surfing YouTube.
To heighten awareness & share the love, I'm adding this video and others to my online collection of YouTube music & dance video gems, and posting it on my facebook page. Google Jambalayah.
And Oshunlife, may I also say I love your name :o)
This absolutely kicks the sh*t out of many of todays so called musicians!
