Hey I'm 16 and just purchased 2 l7 15" 2011 models and they are 2000 watts each and 4 ohm but I know shit about watts and amps can somebody help thanx and I would like a ported box btw thanx
@thepoposacomin Expensive starting system. Cheapest amp you could go with is a Hifonics HFI2000D and wire everything in parallel to a 1 ohm load. Since you're gonna be pulling about 140 amps with that, you're gonna need 0 gauge wiring, batteries (check out XS Power's 14.4 volt) and possibly a high output alternator. Besides the alternator, all of those other things can be found on sonicelectronix . com. Check out PWK Designs for your box. Pay 50$ for perfect box blueprints, build it yourself.
I never said Jl would outperform everything but when it comes down to Jl or kicker Jl is the better way to go.I personally like matts. There amps and subs are top notch.there dreadnauts subs are ridiculous and there juggernaut is even louder (but not as clear). I have the l7 and the 10 in solo x... but my next project i'm using pioneer premier12in... i need clarity now.. i want to hear clean bass and not have to make a HUGE box. All kicker subs require a lot of air.

I would recommend any Orion amp especially the Orion 1200d amp its an awesome amp it's rated at 1200RMS at 1ohm but I've seen it run 1440RMS at 1ohm so it's very under rated and will put out around 3000 watts max check it out it's a bit pricy but if you want to power those L7s nice check it out

Yeah if you're going for a ton of bass the rattling doesn't matter, but if you want good tone out of your subs (which apparently if you bought 2 15" L7s you do) you should fix the rattling.

I noticed you said you've been in the business for a long time, and was wondering if you could help me out a bit... I got 2-12 L5(dual 2ohm) and was wanting an amp to push them pretty hard. Thinking about going with either KX1200.1 or ZX1000.1... Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thanks
You will NOT want the KX1200.1. It is a 1 ohm stable and makes its 1200rms at 1 ohm. Your best and safe wire option is series/parallel giving you a 2 ohm load. You will want the zx1000.1 or if you want to feed them there max rated rms per sub a zx1500.1 would do that. Either amplifer will need to have properly set gains. If clipped, either of those amps will have the power to damage the subs or even blow them. If they are set correctly you will be fine and they will get plenty loud.
Thank you alot.. Might even upgrade later on to a couple 15 L7's sometime in the future. But again, much thanks...Oh and one more thing, sealed, slot vent, or ported box?
@squirreleyman Thats all on you and the sound your after. Sealed will give you a bit more SQ, but the ported will be louder with these subs. 3.25 cu.ft. slot ported Fb33hz and you would be rockin.
@squirreleyman hey there, Im in the car audio bizz also and MECP cert. I would suggest looking into the JL line of amps for the L5's. The JL 1000.1 amp is a monster, it has plenty of power to go around and then some. I have one myself pushing two 12" rockford P3's and it makes them sweat. Although the 1000.1 is a mono block it can run two single 2ohm just fine, but you said you have dual 2ohm, so you would prolly have to get two 1000.1's and the ony thing is they arent cheap at all.

That has to be the most noob answer ever! The Enclosure dictates the sound of the woofer, NOT the size. You can make an 8 play as low as a 15. BTW the question was 2 12s vs. 1 15. So the 12s would be louder, but if using the same power as feeding to the 15. The difference would not be a hear able difference for daily driving. If competing it could get you the exrta bit to the finish line. Even then this comes down to the install, enclosure design and power.
Hatchbacks or SUV's environments usually will sound louder with the same system and in most cases on a mic as well. I have seen trunk cars pull very good numbers. Really depends on the vehicle and install being designed for the vehicle.
well it depends on what u want man 15's have deeper bass but with 12's u get every note highs and lows its mostly what u prefer i like hearing everything in my music so i stick with 12's i just sold my l7's tonight lol but yea u can all wayz turn down ur bass boost it takes down the power make sure u go with a good amp tho dont get a shitty performance teknique or hifonics

Yeah if you're going for a ton of bass the rattling doesn't matter, but if you want good tone out of your subs (which apparently if you bought 2 15" L7s you do) you should fix the rattling.

I noticed you said you've been in the business for a long time, and was wondering if you could help me out a bit... I got 2-12 L5(dual 2ohm) and was wanting an amp to push them pretty hard. Thinking about going with either KX1200.1 or ZX1000.1... Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thanks

You will NOT want the KX1200.1. It is a 1 ohm stable and makes its 1200rms at 1 ohm. Your best and safe wire option is series/parallel giving you a 2 ohm load. You will want the zx1000.1 or if you want to feed them there max rated rms per sub a zx1500.1 would do that. Either amplifer will need to have properly set gains. If clipped, either of those amps will have the power to damage the subs or even blow them. If they are set correctly you will be fine and they will get plenty loud.

@squirreleyman Thats all on you and the sound your after. Sealed will give you a bit more SQ, but the ported will be louder with these subs. 3.25 cu.ft. slot ported Fb33hz and you would be rockin.

@squirreleyman hey there, Im in the car audio bizz also and MECP cert. I would suggest looking into the JL line of amps for the L5's. The JL 1000.1 amp is a monster, it has plenty of power to go around and then some. I have one myself pushing two 12" rockford P3's and it makes them sweat. Although the 1000.1 is a mono block it can run two single 2ohm just fine, but you said you have dual 2ohm, so you would prolly have to get two 1000.1's and the ony thing is they arent cheap at all.

That has to be the most noob answer ever! The Enclosure dictates the sound of the woofer, NOT the size. You can make an 8 play as low as a 15. BTW the question was 2 12s vs. 1 15. So the 12s would be louder, but if using the same power as feeding to the 15. The difference would not be a hear able difference for daily driving. If competing it could get you the exrta bit to the finish line. Even then this comes down to the install, enclosure design and power.

Hatchbacks or SUV's environments usually will sound louder with the same system and in most cases on a mic as well. I have seen trunk cars pull very good numbers. Really depends on the vehicle and install being designed for the vehicle.

well it depends on what u want man 15's have deeper bass but with 12's u get every note highs and lows its mostly what u prefer i like hearing everything in my music so i stick with 12's i just sold my l7's tonight lol but yea u can all wayz turn down ur bass boost it takes down the power make sure u go with a good amp tho dont get a shitty performance teknique or hifonics
