  • I own both of Brett's programs and just started with Singing success:) I have a before video up if anyone is interested in watching it, I will post my 3 month update at the end of April, Then my 6 month in August and then I hope to move on to the mastering mix program, this guy seems amazing! And I hope his program can take my voice from good to brilliant, personally I think it is very much possible:) So please watch my before video and comment on any other things i should watch in my voice!

  • Much Interest!

  • he looks better with his hair out of his eyes... i've tried a couple things off his vids and it HAS improved my singing/ works for me. Idk I guess I understand the way he explains it, it's easy. I just no one tells you to do something that actually damages your voice

  • you need a haircut

  • can't get it. just can't.

  • guys...... vocal fry works. My voice freakin went so high just now after doing the vocal fry! Without tension too! Brett, you're great.

  • You are great man i love the way you teach without hidding anything, you are very honest. I have your program and i've been practicing for only 2 WEEKS!!! and I can sing much more better now !! im really impressed ..I only did Technique 1 and Technique 2 its geeat! and i love the exercises... Nei Nei Nei!!!! I'm gonna keep practicing at my best I can't imagine how good would my voice sound in 6 months or 1 year!! THANK YOUU!!

  • HAVE A BRANCH IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!

  • I have this singing programme, and god am I lazy, but the things it has done for me. i haven't done it in ages, but i'm so gonna have to get back into it. I love it, i mean, without trying very hard, everything changes fast, and if you dedicate the time and effort your voice will be so good in no time. Sometimes I have to stop the excersises because brett says something and i laugh, but aside from that its brilliant

  • And to anyone that is considering buying his program, I highly recommend buying a keyboard. Reason being is the exercises within the Singing Success program are on set tempos. It is best to practice the exercises at your own set tempo/pace rather than having to keep up with the preset tempo in the program. It is essential that you do not strain while doing them. But like I said, the program has useful information in it. After all, that's what your paying for when you buy any program. Knowledge.

  • I've actually purchased Brett Mannings "Singing Success" program. It definitely has useful knowlege within it's contents. The man knows what he's talking about. But one thing I can say, and this goes for learning man-made instruments,(guitar,bass,piano,drums,etc...), as well as learning about vocals. Is that no home program can rival taking lessons with a good teacher. Reason being is, you can't ask a book, video, or cd questions. Questions that the teacher can answer. Knowledge is power.

  • Hasn't he by any chance taught this Russian guy? watch?v=LVOxbrMVDTE

  • I'm so confused...

  • @DawgFL Im glad Im not the only one :/

  • @6jazmin6 haha

  • I cant produce a vocal fry - Any suggestions how to do that.

  • @mihirjagger humm right then try to slow it down or go ohhh and try to slow it down when you feel a closing happening in the throaght and a shortage of the voice its coming so dont stop when that happenes

  • @mihirjagger sing without voice just vibrate your vocal chords, breath out confidently, let your vocal chords vibrate

  • @mihirjagger try yawning and you should hear the croaky quality. You know when people stretch and make a "mmm" sound, that is usally vocal fry or near vocal fry so try doing that. It's a very relaxed tone, so the key is trying to relax, and the lowest notes you can do

  • my eyes are hurting me when I see how his eyes struggle to see anything :)

  • OK so I broke through my second bridge at about high C but when I get to the notes past E above high C it is very hard to control the pitches ????

  • The best man for the music class Brett Manning

  • I am really horrible at singing..pretty much a noob! I have alway been really bad and I want to find my strong powerful voice..will the DVD help? Plus I'm off melody when I sing a long to songs..what can help me???!??!!!

  • @ajinstylist yes get singing success first

  • I bought some of his lessons...great techniques!!!

  • very nice tune i.e. Gi gi gi gi gi based on arpeggio pattern and specially i liked that ha ha ha ha guitar tune

  • Oh my dear, you are so awesome. Thank you. I have laryngitis right now, and all I can even do is listen, but that's enough for me right now. :)

  • I spoke with brett once jaja One of the Most cool guys in the world =D

  • ..I'm trying those exercises.. and the vocal fry is I think is hard.. ahahah

  • the first one makes me laugh lol

  • Ummm not sure if you noticed...but there is a huge piece of hair stuck in your EYE

  • In fact, when you see the original songs and you play it at the same time as you hear the covers we know and like of youtube; they sound waYY off and out of tune. It's called transposition. A small trick to adjust any song you desire, to your vocal range. It's changing all the chords & notes to a different key, but leaving the same chord pattern. The majority of people never notice it; but the closest it is to the original...the better.

  • Ok, I am 16 years old and my vocal range without falsetto is from C2 to F4 (F4 is not su pure)

So i think,i am a Baritone. But i realy dont like my voice, people says i should be a opera singer, but i hate opera,i want to sing POP love songs, but all of them are like on C4 to the C6 range. So what should i do ? can i become a tenor or atleast increase my vocal range ?

  • @Istoris12 haha wow you wouldn't beilive this, but you are in the exact definition of ME. - I am 16, my highest and lowest are just like yours. Except when I'm really warmed up I can hit a Nice F or G without any strain. I learned how to do that with Per Bristow's Sing with Freedom...You're wrong when you say you NEED to have c4 to c6 range to sing pop songs..I love singing Apologize by One republic, or The Fray songs "How to save a life" /"you found me" or my own versions of "Firework" - katy

  • @Istoris12 If you've noticed, look at all the song covers done by males on youtube. The famous ones. Boyce Avenue, Tyler Ward, Jake Coco, Alex Goot, David Choi, etc.! They have millions of hits...And have you noticed they have the same vocal range as us? - It's because we have the average vocal range of a male's voice. We just need to dominate it , and learn how to extend it as far as we can. Jake Coco and Alex Goot have; tyler ward not so much.

  • @Istoris12 Compare these covers that I'm talking about, with the originals. Notice how the covers were amazing, but they sound out of tune when you play it at the same time with the original..It's because if it the original singer is female, or a tenor male, The key is far too high for the average male, no matter how good the guy is. So we musicians do something called "Transposition"; we play the same sequence of chords, but on a different key...Changing ALL the notes, leaving the pattern.

  • @Istoris12 When you see Sam Tsui, he's a tenor. - He can hit a D, even an E over C5... He has very smal vocal chords. Sounds like a blessing; but when you look at it from a different point of view...He may hit really high notes and sound great, but he can't hit any of the low notes we can =). I don't even think he can go anywhere near the low notes we can hit xD. So singing pop songs isn't about high notes or low notes; it's about how well you've dominatd the ones you already got ;).

  • @Istoris12 Hope I was of help.

    Cheers.

  • "i hold it in place with my mind"

I do that with my x-wing from time to time.

  • How convenient the time you give out your top 3 exercises you're recovering from pneumonia >_<. I've got to fly to see u in person man you're lessons are crazy!

  • i have a problem...i can catch very high notes but when i sing a song i cant catch these notes...plz help me...

  • if only i could hear the video...

  • interesting. i'll be doing this for the rest of the day.

  • What's with the hair? It's very hard to use the top 3 when I can't get my eyes off your hair! LOLs

  • Oh and check out at 4:38 too!

  • Lol guys transcribe the audio and look what it says at 1:12

  • from 4:22 it feels like he's some magician...

  • it was so quiet and then 6.09 nuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAA

  • I love this!!!

Thanks Brett, for sharing your knowledge!

I am a Romanian singer, former professional violinist.

Must say I have found your videos very useful; I see myself evolving pretty quickly.

I intend buying your entire program, but until then what you do here on YouTube helps a lot!

I started really using my voice, and mastering my mix much more than in the past; a lot of things get much easier; I have the feeling that I am singing correctly and more effortlessly.

    You're great!

I just liked, favourited, & subbed...

You have no idea how much I appreciate your help, I could never afford a singing teacher, so this means alot to me aswell as many others out there who can't afford a teacher... :0)

  • This really work! I was a horrid singer. Really bad, awful even. But I'm actually getting better. You just have to work at it. Do the exercises every day! I practice about +20 min every day. And I'm noticing results. It does work.

  • this guy has 100% control of his vocal chords!!!!!!!!

  • I have look dictionary...idiot. thank you ;)

  • Guys, it actually works ! Well, atleast it did for me. I was a HORRIBLE, I mean HORRIBLE singer. Now I'm getting better :)

  • You are the best! *-*

  • I don't get this?

  • @MrsMerrygold1993 me either lol

  • agree he should fix his hair next time S= awesome vid!

  • THE GRUDGE

  • this sucks you sound like a dying cat squished under the couch

  • The vocal fry is a dangerous technique for a beginner, but totally usable for a singer who has lots of experience with mixed voice and sees the connection. Still I find that it just doesn't work for most students before the super-advanced level. DON'T try this at home. Take a friggin voice lesson and try it under professional supervision.

  • whenever i do the voice exercises someone (ir; parents siblings) goes "shut up." is that a good sign?

  • i do the vocal fry every night, but i get the impression my parents think im doin somethin else becuz i hear giggling outside my door

  • am I watching the grudge or what?

  • lml yu sound like a hoe wit a sore throat havinq and orqyy

  • Interesting approach to communicating vocal technique ideas - I've applied these same techniques in my own career, but Brett presents them from a different vantage point - good reminders for me.

  • are these good techniques for...lets just say Im not a beginner, I've been singing for a while but I have a bad habit of driving my chest voice for high notes, which aren't very high or tonaly pleasing. what are the best techniques in your oppinion for connecting chest to head

  • 1:23 Grudge D:

  • please get your hair cut.

  • 1:08 that's COUNTRY STYLE lmao

  • It's so soft then at like 4:00 it goes so loud and my neighbors probably think I'm watching porn.

  • Sound like the grudge lol

  • @Acemoneykillazent thats what i said :(

  • Does anyone else feel like he's saying something important, but, at the end of the video, realize that you don't know how to apply anything he has said?

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama

Be an artist and improvise with the info. Trust me if you have a tough spot in a song use those little tidbits in the video and then you'll be able to expand your range and bridge between breaks.

    Best wishes.

  • @777timebandit I love it and simultaneously find it hilarious that at least sixty-eight people agree with my statement! XD Haha! But uh, I have Kevin Richard's Breaking the Chains program, so I need this not. I am not much of an artist, though.

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama

    exactly that

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama ifyou dont know what to dowith this you havent been singing for long

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama this is how you warm up, you don't want to start singing without warming up your voice first..if you do scales with this three exercises you will be able to sing better and with less strain and pressure.

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama What hes saying is very important, and its very easy to apply, you just do it every day and before you know it, you'll be using it intuitively without thinking about it

  • @TheOldSpirit Like I said: I have Kevin Richards Breaking the Chains CD, so I'll stick with that.

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama Yeah whatever works and does your voice good. These singer tutors should be used as tools to enhance your voice.. not the end all or be all of singing. I'll check out Kevin Richards

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama I agree! I liked when he said he keeps his voice there with his mind!

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama thats because you don't know shit about singing and voice you stupid fuck and so do those who thumbed you up you stupid prick!!!THUMBS UP IF BRETT MADE YOU SING LIKE A STAR!!!

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama this is just muscle stuff. kind of like doing vocal pushups.

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama absolutely. I kept rewinding stuff but still not really getting all his technique

  • wow it sounds like hes having an orgasim

  • who it sounds like hes having an orgasim

  • Why were your cords swollen? It sounds like your technique is pretty damn good so was it actually from overuse? What have you learned to help prevent that in the future that perhaps you could share with us? Thanks for your time :)

  • how much does an hour of class with him cost?

  • love you man......thanks for your help.........

  • Thanks for sharing Brett.

  • excellent video, I will recommend this to my clients

  • Yes I am eternally grateful! I can't thank you enough.

  • People should know that these techniques have been around for over a hundred years, that includes lip rolls etc. Do some research into Bel Canto singing, there's some fantastic information online and it's free.

  • @nicolas870 I totally agree with you. Anyone who has studied serious opera and Bel Canto singing knows all of these things.

No one has cornered the market on this...

  • Yep! There's better quality information available for free than on there courses, they are way, way over priced.

  • @nicolas870 I totally agree with you. Anyone who has studied serious opera and Bel Canto singing knows all of these things.

No one has cornered the market on this...

  • @nicolas870 he doesn't say that he invent the techniques, either that they are his, he has for free really good tips, and they are in video so someone can hear what a lip roll is, what vocal fry is, etc, etc.

But he needs also to make a living so he sell cds with great exercises.

  • @charisaob

SS is a lesson in marketing not in singing. It is waaaaay over priced for what it is. I know a book you can buy for 5 UK pounds that would benefit most singers more. 'How to Sing' by Lilli Lehman. You can download it free on PDF as it's out of copyright. Think about the sound opera singers like Joan Sutherland and Pavrotti make, BM couldn't sing like that in a million years, he's never even had a record out has he?

  • @nicolas870 i have bel canto books and i think u are just spamming here.

i do his exercises and my voice gain an octave in two weeks, because i had problems with my voice before i couldn;t sing anything.

Im just saying that he is worthing the money he is asking. I am sure someone can find lots of info even for free. But at least from him i know wtf is a lip roll and how the f to do it right!

  • @charisaob Spamming what exactly?! Please explain? Did I leave and links am I selling anything? Err No!

If you type in Seth Riggs to you tube you could have got the explanation for free, from the creator of speech level singing, whoose book and CD is about twenty pounds. If you paid for an SS product you've been royally ripped off.

  • @nicolas870 seth riggs is cool, i did as u say and i saw some videos. I like his tips on the lip roll in the first exercise, but is it from Riggs? I mean the video? Or just one guy bought the thing and uploaded?

anyway, it is better if someone can afford a teacher like brett manning or like seth riggs. Also about Pavaroti and if Brett can sing like that, if u hear any voice today like Pavaroti or like Callas even then judge why they don;t have Brett as their teacher!

  • @charisaob Brett lures in people who want to be pop stars with the image of SS, which is modern haircuts, and white teeth. At risk of repeating myself there is BETTER information and lessons available for free online. The only famous singers Brett Manning has taught are swamped in auto tune on their records.

  • @nicolas870 dude, i bought Seth Riggs singing program and it is amazing, but Brett have much more exercises and stuff, thats why he charges more!

I actually recomment to all Seth Riggs as well.

I mean common, the whole conv is just stupid!

  • @charisaob STUPID is paying 200 dollars for singing success! Peace Out!

  • Does this work even if you don't have a voice yet?

Can you make it better, by doing this?

  • i want to have a powerful voice but i found my voice in a very childish pitch. what shall I do?

  • I'm interested in what you have to say, but I find it very irritating to look at you with that hair in your face. I don't know how that hair doesn't bother you, but I'm sure it bothers those who have to look at you.

  • Lol his hair was in his face and I literally flicked my tied-back hair subconsciously in attempt to get the hair out of his face XD

  • @chuewii96 lol

  • @chuewii96 LOL i did the same

  • LOVE LOVE THE TIPS THANX BRETT!

  • cool

  • he trains halyley williams not to trust him

  • I think this is all wrong. I've worked with several vocal professionals and they have all said that these exact thing he's doing with his voice are damaging. I don't find it helpful at all but that's definitely just me and everyone learns different ways. that's just how i feel.

  • @xXFallingStarXx14 No wonder he's Hayley William's coach right? Hayley William's does what he says yet she's an awesome singer.. Please make sure you've got your facts right before commenting. Thank you

  • Comment removed

  • @xXFallingStarXx14 Bret manning does vocal fry all the time..... he has a 5 octave range

  • @xXFallingStarXx14 Actually vocal fry is what happens when you put absolutely no pressure on your vocal cords...so it does more or less the complete opposite of ruining your voice....so long as you don't try to force it. Done properly its just breathing and your vocal cords just starting to come together, hence the crackly sound. The number one thing to ruin your voice is whispering and/or screaming...but you know thats just what i've learnt...i as well as many grammy winners must be morons...

  • Comment removed

  • @xXFallingStarXx14 Yes but you also must remember that he has a vocal range of 5 OCTAVES smart one. Just remember that.

  • @xXFallingStarXx14 I'm not saying i'm a grammy winner, i'm talking about the MANY singers adopting the brett manning technique including hayley williams and keith urban. Screaming and whispering are bad because to do it, you have to push way too much air past your vocal chords. Vocal fry isn't like this at all. Now we may not agree with each other, but just because you're a classically trained singer doesn't mean you are the be all and end all of technique either.

  • The fact that whispering is bad for your voice is a myth. An urban legend to get people to add more power to their singing voice. Biology tells us that it's no different from speaking normally. And as for screaming Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Myles Kennedy, Eddie Vedder, Chester Bennington, Phil Anselmo, Maynard James Keenan among many other experienced vocalists who have being doing it for years along with maintaining a phenomenal clean voice, would beg to differ. Stop trying to be a smartass

  • @xXFallingStarXx14 there is nothing wrong with vocal fry. i am also a classically trained singer. a very successful voice therapist suggested vocal frying for a bit after a night of heavy singing
