There comes a point and time to when you're in this situation, you have to face reality and the facts...It won't come easy trust me. The first 2yrs I was stuck in a rut always thinking I'll get something back. Well, 23yrs later guess where I'm at? The same place I was 23yrs ago only difference is I'm divorced and living with my mom...IF IT WASN'T FOR HER I WOULDN'T BE HERE!!!!!!!!
I believe in miracles, My boyfriend injured his C-1/C-2 hit by a drunk driver on the side of the road. Our miracle is that he is with us everyday:) and is regaining movement back everyday. When something like this happens to a family HOPE is all you have left. Stay strong Holmes family!
Great video with great song. I'm C1-2 functional 4. My accident was May of 1982. I was 27. Almost 27 years afterwards, still here Never let your dreams die.
Go for it, but dont pin all your hopes and dreams on a miracle cure.
Trying to regrow the spinal cord, even part of it, is the same as trying to regrow a severed limb. No amount of willpower or 'lack of quitting' is ever going to make a difference.
It's admirable, but to be honest Skylar would be better off using the money instead to help make your life more comfortable and as independent as possible.
Sorry, you ain't gonna like this, but the sooner you get over your accident and get on with life (same goes for your family), the happier and more successful you gonna be. There ain't no cure, nor will there be in our lifetime - but life goes on. And one thing is for certain, prayers ain't gonna help neither, only give false hope. Get over it, move on.
last time I checked God didnt exist. Religion has no place giving people false hope. If God was going to fix people when and where he wanted then there would be no need to try stem cell therapy would there.
When God was performing his miracles in the bible He didn't do them when people were expecting him too. Lazarus had been sick, he could have helped then but instead He raised him from the dead. He caused the blind to see and the lame to walk again. In todays time he gave people the knowledge to do scientific research in order to help heal people. So the genius' that are doing stem cell therapy are here for a reason.
The "genius" people who are doing stem cell therapy are nothing more than charlatans and con artists preying on peoples suffering and dreams of a cure. Not one single person has ever regrown even the smallest part of their spinal cord.
These "clinics" cant produce any evidence of cures, improvements or advancement and simply leave people in the same conditions, only with significantly less money than before "treatment".
If god really gave these "geniuses" a gift, then it's the gift of theft.
The money was raised for stem cell so thats what we are putting it to. We have spent hours researching and know every pro and con known associated with the procedure. He knows he may or may not gain anything. Its a chance that the family and Skylar has chosen to take. Were just trying to gain some of his independence back since we havent been able to get any therapy. He hasnt moved since last Sept. so we are trying this route for him to gain something back, even a little will be alot to him.
You are in my prayers. "I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die and find out there isn't, than to live my live as if there isn't a God and die to find out there is."
Has there ever been a confirmed regain of feeling or movement from stem cell transplant? Especially in completely severed cords? Either the science is good or it's not... prayers, faith, hope & will aren't going to overcome a complete cut. It'll be 23years this august since I broke my neck diving (age 15) & I've heard cures were just around the corner since day 1. I'd like to see proof this works.
Skylar will be leaving the end of this month for the Dominican Republic. He will be getting Stem Cell injections under Dr. Rader of Malibu, California. Skylar's spinal cord is partially severed, meaning it was cut into but not completely into 2. Were hoping with these stem cells some tissue will grow back with alot of therapy guiding the way. At this point your kind of willing to try anything to regain some movement.
Is all of this being documented on video? The process to get into the trial, testig of his present feeling & movement, preparing for the trip etc...? I hope everything is being recorded and that it's put on a website, allow for ppl to donate and watch as the process unfolds. If this does work it should be the biggest medical news ever. & if the world's news media isn't going to cover it, it then becomes the responsibility of those on the inside to let the rest of us know.
Great video! Does anyone know how Skylar is doing now? no new updated videos? I hope all is well. God Bless you Skylar!!!
