They were such a cute couple. Both good looking people and they seemed so in love. But Paul (as much as I love him) was a douche for cheating and doing that to such a good girl. She is way too classy for that so I'm glad she left him. He really lost out.

McCartney did not stop having one-night stands with other women during his time with Asher, because he felt that since they were not married, it was allowed. On 25 December 1967 McCartney and Asher announced their engagement, and she accompanied McCartney to India in February and March 1968. Asher broke off the engagement in early 1968, after coming back from Bristol to find Paul in bed with another woman, Francie Schwartz. finally ended it on 20 July 1968

In 1963, Asher interviewed The Beatles. A photographer for the BBC's Radio Times asked them to pose with Asher [3]. Asher subsequently commenced a five-year relationship with Paul McCartney, getting engaged in 1967.[4] She inspired many of McCartney's songs, such as "All My Loving," "And I Love Her," "I'm Looking Through You," "You Won't See Me," "We Can Work It Out," "Here, There and Everywhere," and "For No One" (all credited as Lennon/McCartney).
Lennon/McCartney penned the number one hit "A World Without Love" for her brother Peter.
McCartney stayed in the Asher family home at 57 Wimpole Street from 1964-66 and wrote several Beatles songs there.[5] He wrote in a room usually used for music lessons. The Asher house was also a place of intellectual stimulation for McCartney. He enjoyed the rarefied atmosphere of upper-middle class conversation and company that the house afforded, and to which he aspired.
According to Cynthia Lennon, McCartney was "as proud as a peacock" to have Jane as a girlfriend,[7] and saw her as "a great prize."[8] Marianne Faithfull remembered McCartney and Asher "never getting on very well," and described one evening at Cavendish Avenue when McCartney wanted a window to be open and Asher wanted it shut.
McCartney would repeatedly get up and open the window and then Asher would get up and close it, although neither of them made any comment about it during the whole evening.[9]
McCartney did not stop having one-night stands with other women during his time with Asher, because he felt that since they were not married, it was allowed.[1

They attempted to mend the relationship, but finally ended it on 20 July 1968[11] when Asher told the BBC. Asher has consistently refused to publicly discuss McCartney or her time with him,[13] and has maintained her position on the matter to this day.[14] On this basis, she is described by the Beatles' 1968 biographer Hunter Davies as the only major Beatles associate not to have published her recollections.

His first wife, Linda, the love of his life from whom he was truly inseparable for almost 30 years, died in 1998.
What are your favorites?
Paul: I have many favorites, really."Yesterday" is a pretty special song. : "Maybe I'm Amazed" was written when I first met Linda It tries to capture some of the feelings that she inspired, and so obviously that has a special place in my affection.
He did call his beatiful tribute concert for Linda after her death "Here, There and Everywhere" He loved and still loves her so, so much otherwise explain why he called his tribute concert by this song's name? Linda was his greatest muse and he is the first to say it as he has done. I thought Jane and he were a lovely looking couple but then realised that it was all about looks for them. The expected "pretty" couple. With Linda it was a deep love that transcended all emotions.
"I am not Paul's wife-but yes, we are going to get married. We won't be married for a while yet, but when it happens we've got a family planned. First we want a boy and then-come what may. There's no particular reason why we are not getting married right away, except that we're both pretty\line young...I shan't give up my career unless it interferes with our being together...I love Paul.
We nearly did get married. But it always used to fall short of the mark and something happened. And one of us would think it wasn't right....Jane and I had a long good relationship."
Don't ever ask me why, I never say goodbye to My Love, it's understood, it's everywhere with my love; I love my love, oh oh my love only My Love does it good to me
Don't ever ask me why, I never say goodbye to My Love, it's understood, it's everywhere with my love; I love my love, oh oh my love only My Love does it good to me
oh and thanks for the thumbs down again. Just proves you all can't stand the truth and that is Linda was and is Paul's love forever!
Paul loved Linda more than anyone he had loved before or since. Linda was the best and Paul knew it because he married her for 30 years until her untimely death. They would still be together now still so much in love. Linda was the right choice and I am glad
I love that I have been thumbs downed so much. It means I will just keep writing comments on how great Linda was for Paul and Jane although a pretty little thing couldnn't hold onto the cute Beatle. He did cheat on her and was totally faithful to Linda for 30 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here we are again donnysgirl. watching the same clips. Did it ever ocur to you that I too liked Jane as I have said which is why I am watching these tributes to her but I also really liked Linda was the for Paul?
What is your problem that you cannot accept another person's point of view? make sure if you have kids you teach them to listen and accept we all have a right to our opinions. I never made fun of you. I teach my daughter to listen and respect others. Have a nice day, cheers
sure beatlechic19:that's what getting married is all about. Cheating on someone. He didn't want to get married which is why he cheated and moved Francie into his house. He was just a louse for not telling Jane instead of letting her catch him with someone else. Linda was his only true and deep love forever. He still talks about his soul mate.
Yeah, go and thumbs down this comment. I don't care because I have history on my side as well as Paul, Linda, family and a couple of nights spent apart.
I didn't realize how beautiful she was back then. You have to give her credit (character!) for not doing a tell all book or something. Not a word from her that I know of, classy lady!
i don't think her rack was big enough at the ens of the day - for Paul. I saw her years later on a cookery programme - she had a big spice rack at that stage - an attempt to over compensate
I think Jane it's more beautiful than Linda! I don't think Linda is that beautiful... but, she was the love of his life! Not Jane... :) And that's what matters! The true love!
looking pretty is in the eye of the beholder and Paul thought Linda was the most beautiful woman he had ever met bothon the outside and on the inside. If you read his interview on the Macca Report, then click onto macca report news, he says how gorgeous she was and without any makeup on at all! He was in awe of Linda and loved her so much he can't get over losing her even today. He misses her so much.
part 2...She helped him to relax and she grounded him, made him feel and live a normal life without all the highlights of show business. He is lost without her and it sadly shows on his face. His spirit is no longer there like it was and his home in St John's Wood is a shrine to his beautiful soulmate. Life dealt Paul and his family a bitter blow when Linda was taken form them and that's something you never recover from.
and yes in that interview she didn't say she hoped they'd get together when they were older... she said, they would probably get married when they were 70... but stop this wishful thinking of your own and let these people lead their own lives.
Very simple reason: they were too young, their careers were pulling them in different directions, etc. I think it speaks well the inherent good manners each possess that after 40 years neither one has ever commented on something as personal as the relationship or break-up. They were together 5 years.I'm sure they would not trade that time together for the world. But it was time to move on. Paul found a wonderful woman in Linda and Jane by all accounts is very happy with Gerald Scarfe.
I remember reading an interview on Google once when I was bored...and Jane said that if she didn't marry Paul one day, she hoped that maybe when they got older they would get together again.
Well there is a theory about Paul being caught on bed with a certain American Bird, named Francie Schwartz by Jane. But the fact is that after that episode, they went together to the Mike McCartney's wedding, so probably they tried to make things out, but as you already know they went apart from then on.
I did read many years ago that Paul came back with a Bunny Girl one night in, er 1966 and that one of Paul's groupies, who camped outside his pad in Holland Park, phoned Paul on the gate phone to warn him that Jane had returned. Whether, or not, that was the episode you are thinking of I'm not sure but it must have been a wild time for him then....
@ladymacca And she was very fond of Mike and the McCartney family as a whole. She'd given her word she would attend Mike's wedding and being the lady that she is, she kept it. But she didn't want to give up her career and I don't think she wanted to give up Paul but it was a bit of a Catch-22. He wanted her home all the time and she had a promising career w/ The Old Vic that involved a lot of touring...just like his career did. Both ended up happy, though.
Paul and Jane Asher were a georgeous couple and they looked so in love in the pictures. who knows what happened? guess it was not meant to be. Lovely Linda was destined to be Mrs. Paul McCartney. but Jane was so lovely

I doubt it-Jane writing a book. Have said it before: There was too much respect between the two of them even when they "fell out of love." Jane's happy now and Paul's happy ever since he rid himself of that horrible Mills woman.Linda didn't need the title of Lady. She always WAS one as Jane was. Both Jane and Paul moved on long ago but still have mutual respect for one another to never say anything bad or anything at all about the other or the relationship. That's the way it should be.
Why are your comment with all those minus?! I don't get it! Anyway... I love this couple! Eheh And I just wish them the best! What does Jane do nowadays?
People wanted to see Paul w/Jane.She's a very attractive woman both inside and out but the fact is they both had demanding careers that pulled them in different directions. And they were too young.I like Jane and I like Paul. The fact neither one has written a'tell-all'book says A LOT @ both of them. Jane has a cooking show on TV.They both ended up with the right partners.Jane has been w/Gerald Scarfe since 1971.Paul would STILL be w/Linda-1968 if she hadn't died so tragically young from cancer.
ah lady macca??? senti Linda McCartney so io eh?? non so se me spiego! quindi bella sgomma mpo' che paul è mio MIO MIO MIO MIO SOLO MIO IL MIO CICCIO PICCIO bellino cicciolino puccipù! quindi SMAMMA COCCA! CHE CERCHI ROGNA???
I heard some silly comments about this love relation: -Can't you see?. Real Paul left Jane because the replacement (no Paul) was fallen love with Linda... Hahahahaha.
I've only ever seen Jane Asher in black & white photos and had no idea she had such striking red hair. Next to George and Patti they're my favorite Beatle couple.
yes.. he does. He wrote it sitting beside Johns pool, at his mansion in Kensington in 1966. John praised this song, and said he wished he had written it!
This song "Here, there and everywhere" is one of the reasons that Paul McCartney is my favourite Beatle. It`s just a perfect song. A beautiful ballad, and a true classic!
But i must add.. I just heard a couple of tracks from his new album, and it was bad. There was only one good song on it, and the rest was crap. Thank god he made "chaos and creation" two years ago. That album was great. But anyhow. The Beatles is his legacy, and he was the best beatle!
It`s the other way around with me:) I like "Ever present past", but not the production. It doesn`t sound like Paul. His voice sounds strange. It can be good live though."Dance tonight" however is better.I liked that. It has a catchy tune. But i`ve heard the whole album now, and it`s bad. Especially compared to "Chaos and creation in the back yard" But knowing that he recorded this "new" album before "chaos", i don`t care. He proved himself with "chaos", cause that was a fine album.
lol I'll buy the album when it comes out next month and see for myself :-) "Chaos" was excellent though..espec. "Too Much Rain", I never thought Paul could write a song like that, so..despairing.
Such a magical choice of song, too :3

part 2...She helped him to relax and she grounded him, made him feel and live a normal life without all the highlights of show business. He is lost without her and it sadly shows on his face. His spirit is no longer there like it was and his home in St John's Wood is a shrine to his beautiful soulmate. Life dealt Paul and his family a bitter blow when Linda was taken form them and that's something you never recover from.

and yes in that interview she didn't say she hoped they'd get together when they were older... she said, they would probably get married when they were 70... but stop this wishful thinking of your own and let these people lead their own lives.
lizzylane54 4 years ago
Thats terrible all you saying he should have married Jane. It's disrespectful to Paul and his lovely wife Linda of 30 years. Have some respect!!
lizzylane54 4 years ago 2
Jane Asher is beautiful. I wish Paul had married her.
sandycochran 4 years ago
Jane is beautiful on the outside - but
I doubt she could hold a candle to Linda McCartney!! Paul married the right woman when he married Linda.
ladylike1980 3 years ago 4
I don't get this Jane and Paul thing - they dated but then they broke up!!
Paul McCartney was happily married to a great
lady for nearly 30 years. He wrote "My Love"
and "Maybe I'm Amazed" for Linda - the love
of his life.
ladylike1980 4 years ago 2
Very simple reason: they were too young, their careers were pulling them in different directions, etc. I think it speaks well the inherent good manners each possess that after 40 years neither one has ever commented on something as personal as the relationship or break-up. They were together 5 years.I'm sure they would not trade that time together for the world. But it was time to move on. Paul found a wonderful woman in Linda and Jane by all accounts is very happy with Gerald Scarfe.

wow. she was very beautiful. aww, too bad they didn't end up together. Paul is single again now. and she's married. damn.

I remember reading an interview on Google once when I was bored...and Jane said that if she didn't marry Paul one day, she hoped that maybe when they got older they would get together again.
BetterKnowABeatle04 4 years ago
i think she said something like when they're 70, they're probably going to get married.

I think that you're right. I don't remember what she said exactly.

did they ever get married? great video! The song that Paul is singing in the video, i thing he wrote that song for Linda McCartney.
Beatleslvr4ever 4 years ago
They were engaged, but she ended the engagement, months later he married Linda. And the song, Here There & Everywhere was written by Paul for Jane.
ladymacca 4 years ago
why did she end the engagement?
Beatleslvr4ever 4 years ago
Well there is a theory about Paul being caught on bed with a certain American Bird, named Francie Schwartz by Jane. But the fact is that after that episode, they went together to the Mike McCartney's wedding, so probably they tried to make things out, but as you already know they went apart from then on.
ladymacca 4 years ago
And Jane still looks gorgeous now lady.....
I did read many years ago that Paul came back with a Bunny Girl one night in, er 1966 and that one of Paul's groupies, who camped outside his pad in Holland Park, phoned Paul on the gate phone to warn him that Jane had returned. Whether, or not, that was the episode you are thinking of I'm not sure but it must have been a wild time for him then....
terrymod 4 years ago

Paul McCartney. but Jane was so lovely

koslow88 4 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
I doubt it-Jane writing a book. That's the way it should be.
sagsagleo 3 years ago
Why are your comment with all those minus?! I don't get it! Anyway... I love this couple! Eheh And I just wish them the best! What does Jane do nowadays?
Danikas 3 years ago
People wanted to see Paul w/Jane.She's a very attractive woman both inside and out but the fact is they both had demanding careers that pulled them in different directions. And they were too young.I like Jane and I like Paul. The fact neither one has written a'tell-all'book says A LOT @ both of them. Jane has a cooking show on TV.They both ended up with the right partners.Jane has been w/Gerald Scarfe since 1971.Paul would STILL be w/Linda-1968 if she hadn't died so tragically young from cancer.

I've only ever seen Jane Asher in black & white photos and had no idea she had such striking red hair. Next to George and Patti they're my favorite Beatle couple.

beach-boyish backing vocals are because paul had just heard pet sounds and been very impressed.

yes.. he does. He wrote it sitting beside Johns pool, at his mansion in Kensington in 1966. John praised this song, and said he wished he had written it!

This song "Here, there and everywhere" is one of the reasons that Paul McCartney is my favourite Beatle. It`s just a perfect song. A beautiful ballad, and a true classic!
yellyman 4 years ago
Agreed :-)
amyjohnson11 4 years ago
But i must add.. I just heard a couple of tracks from his new album, and it was bad. There was only one good song on it, and the rest was crap. Thank god he made "chaos and creation" two years ago. That album was great. But anyhow. The Beatles is his legacy, and he was the best beatle!
yellyman 4 years ago
I don;t much like what I've heard of "Dance Tonight" but I've heard that "Ever Present Past" is brilliant. What do you think?
amyjohnson11 4 years ago
It`s the other way around with me:) I like "Ever present past", but not the production. It doesn`t sound like Paul. His voice sounds strange. It can be good live though."Dance tonight" however is better.I liked that. It has a catchy tune. But i`ve heard the whole album now, and it`s bad. Especially compared to "Chaos and creation in the back yard" But knowing that he recorded this "new" album before "chaos", i don`t care. He proved himself with "chaos", cause that was a fine album.
yellyman 4 years ago
lol I'll buy the album when it comes out next month and see for myself :-) "Chaos" was excellent though..espec. "Too Much Rain", I never thought Paul could write a song like that, so..despairing.

Jane's been reported saying PAUL WAS THE
MOST SELFISH PERSON she's ever met. They
may have looked good together in photos, but
there was mismatch in personalities.

Well 4 years in a relationship must mean something, huh? I think there were plenty of interests involved.

From what I have read, Jane has never spoken about Paul since they broke up, and never said anything negative about him.
