I know teh auto is at 3k @80 what is teh eco at i drive alot cross country so 80 is my benchmark i think 3k is a bit too buzy if i do get one of these i am getting the trifectsa tune so the auto have that lovely over boost in m mode but i think an eco might do better in the long run
there is no 1-2month wait for a VW TDI, I can go to any one of 3 local VW dealerships right now and buy one. Please, in this economy people arent buying cars.
you have to convert 42mpg US Gallon to Imperial Gallons to know what it would get in Europe. I think it may even get closer to 45 if you keep it under 65mph.
@1sick93 And of course you can buy that in america right ? the only diesel you can buy in the USA really is the Vw Jetta Tdi and those get maybe 50mpg. 93mpg,, yeah sure.
@tom69z28 There is no reason other than greed that the bluemotion vehicles are not for sale in the US. I actually take back my comment on the cruze eco, when the US mpg is converted to UK, that's pretty good for a petrol car of this size. I live in America, there is a diesel cruze coming in 2013, right now im seriously considering a cruze eco or a hyundai veloster.
@1sick93 a co-worker of mine has a new eco cruze, he is getting 45mpg highway at 70mph. and he said it has nice power delivery. I've been saying it for years, smaller engine with a turbo, and for trucks - a 4cyl turbo diesel in the neighborhood of about 3.5L - 4.0L in displacement, then trucks would achieve 30mpg and still be able to pull something. Same goes for SUVs, 4cyl diesels across the board. But big oil doesn't want that, since they are totally setup to refine gas, thats another topic
@tom69z28 MKIV had, but these gremlins were largely removed in MKV, and I haven't heard of any in MKVI. There is a 6-month wait period for an A3 TDI, and 1-2 month on a VW TDI.
If you drive at 55/60 like I did on a recent trip in North Carolina, you get more than 50 mpg out of an Eco. The GM products I've owned have all had a very low cost of ownership, especially my '92 Saturn. As a former Honda owner, I can also say that the cost of replacing the timing belt and CV joints every few years are very pricey and the total cost of ownership of a Honda is just as much as any GM car.
@justanirishlad there is no reason to buy a diesel after watching this, the cost of a diesel car is more then $6000 more then this Cruze Eco, not worth it, and then those German cars have all kinds of electrical gremlins too. Kudos to Chevrolet.
Good mpg...to bad it will probably fall part in a few years like most chevy's. I hope they prove me and everyone else wrong. I just dont trust them after my past experiences with them. I ended buying a new Civic. Been getting avg. of 42 mpg so far with it in just a week. I do like the look of the cruze exterior better then the Civic though.
@jvolstad The auto is rated at 29 city, 37 highway, but that is underestimated. You can, with a light foot, probably get 32 city, 45 highway. Cause the manual can get up to 60 mpg highway with a light foot.

@wimpog97 if you think they are worth the additional money... but german cars have electrical gremlins, always did.

@tom69z28 diesel engines are more reliable, and they sound better. I love the rattle of a diesel engine :)

How far can you usually go on a tank of gas? Great Vid!
termuser67 8 months ago
If you wish to say something like that, please have factual evidence and please don't mistake your unsubstantiated opinion for fact.
86vetteracer 8 months ago
Cover the car for 5 years and 100,000 miles.
86vetteracer 8 months ago
You're comment lacks fact. It's actually quite ignorant. If the cars fell apart as you said, surely GM would not be able
86vetteracer 8 months ago
I'm going to respond reasonably.

Can you get the Eco with an automatic transmission? Is the mpg the same?

@jvolstad Yes, but then it gets 37 instead of 42mpg highway.
