From what I heard, ABC really wants to bring TGIF back for the 2012-13 Season next fall but @osaji922 has a point. Here what I think the block will be, with Family-friendly Sitcoms
From what I've researched, the president of ABC, Paul Lee, was intending on reviving TGIF for fall 2011 but the execs advised him to wait til next year to do so.
It may take a while but TGIF will be back and I long for the days of watching. I miss those days so much
ah, memories of when TV was worth watching...if only we could go back to these days. i miss sitcoms. too much drama (crap) and reality (worst thing to ever be created) and comedies with no laugh tracks (more crap) on today
I am glad that Boy Meets World is back on the air again on ABC Family at 7 am. I watch it every morning now while I am getting my kids ready for school. Also, Sabrina is on at 2 pm. on ABC Family. What I want back on the air somewhere is Just the Ten of Us. That was one of the original TGIF shows, along with Perfect Strangers, and Full House.
@ReginaCB1 I agree but lets not leave out Dinosaurs, Full House was one of my favorites as well, I loved Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, Boy meets World, I could careless about " Just The Ten of Us" though. It was a show that held no type of merit it was dry and tasteless to me in my opinion.
Three out of the four TGIF shows promoted here were gone from ABC by the end of the next season. Perhaps the worst casualty was "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper", which was only given a six-episode order for the fifth and last season. ABC also scheduled it for Saturday nights in the summer of 1997. The show paired with "Family Matters" in the 8pm hour, filling the void left by "Lois & Clark" after its abrupt cancellation.
@liteskinnededgal I did the exact same thing. Then I woke up on Saturday mornings to watch Teenage Mutant Ninji Turtles, which made me hungry for pizza again.
I guess Supernanny (Reality) and Ugly Betty (Dramedy) is what passes for TGIF these days. Strangely, we may still have 20/20 in the year 2020. (I always thought as a kid if 20/20 will still have the same time slot in the year 2020).
Network Saturday morning cartoons aren't TOTALLY dead, but they're only a shadow of their former self. (1 hour on ABC, followed by 2 hours on CBS, and finally 1 hour on NBC).
I hate how there's really no more sitcoms anymore. Yes there are a few today, but they are not as dominate as they once were. In fact, we hardly even see tv theme intros anymore.
All we see is just the name of the show, and the starring credits, and then the show is on.
All we see today is either reality shows, dramas, etc.
Even the cable channels are following the same format.
I really loved TGIF becuase my mom would order 2 Little Caesars Pizzas and some Crazy Bread.
TGIF was great, but then that stupid CBS Block Party ruined it all. I use to end my night by watching 20/20 with Hugh Downs, and then I'd watch MonsterVision on TNT.
I also loved Fridays Fridays because I could watch some Saturday morning cartoons. It's also too bad that Saturday morning cartoons are dead too.
i loved tgif so much! i can remeber even being 4 years old and watching family matters with some dominoes pizza to top it all off. : ) i really didn't start watching boy meets world and step by step until the end, but they are amazing!
@GDelva2003 I used to be the same way. I feel as though tv might be slowly changing especially ABC. They've got The Middle and Modern Family and new comedies Last Man Standing with Tim Allen. Who knows. I hope tv can be as good as TGIF because that's what I used to watch growing up before the dreadful hiatus called the 00's.
thank god I was out getting wasted on my youthful friday nites. I think being subjected to this crapola programming would have had worse effect on me.
omg like remember when the line up for friday night television was actually good.. like if u had stayed home it wouldnt have been that bad lol boys meets world was the wonder years of my time
Damn, your right. I had nearly forgotten cause I had seen that episode a long time ago but had forgotten what season it was from. Not from ABC but from several years after the series had ended--in 2002 or 03 was when I saw this partic. episode.
Spring of 1996.

JohnnyL80 2 years ago 3
because networks got cheap and would rather put on cheap reality shows than to put on expensive studio sitcoms.

There are some Family Matters Episodes here on Youtube. I need to find Boy Meets World, and it's impossible to find Step by Step or Mr. Cooper.
