  • .... and I remember all this words to this one, too... (see also "That's What Happiness Is" from CKCK, c. 1971).

  • Does anyone remember the "Happiness Is"

ckck tv slogan/commercial? or know where to find it???

  • @1briefly I don't have it, but you can find a short snippet of it here: /watch?v=8G8VJRiU1RI&feature=related (paste that after youtube dot com in your address bar.)

  • Carol Gay wrote this? Didn't know. I wonder if Vern Bell is playing trumpet in the orchestra. :-)

  • @kelamuni The song was produced in the US for different cities. Carol Gay Bell adapted the lyrics for Regina.

  • Did George Sprott help make this

Believe it or not, there was a comic strip about a fictional program host at CKCK TV in the 70's that ran in the New York TImes magazine a few years back

  • A blast from the past! Thanks, I never thought I'd ever hear that song again considering I live in Australia!. So many memories of growing on 25th Ave in south Regina as a kid in the 60's and early 70s.

  • I believe that the late Tom Merriman was responsible for writing and arranging the music for this.

  • This jingle was done for Kalamazoo, MI, too. I have the vinyl single made for our WKZO.

  • Thanks for this! What a treat to hear it again!

  • that takes me back a few years and i loved to here that again

  • Holy guacamole, what a hook that tune has. I heard it last in maybe 1975 (an updated video to go with, of course) and have never forgotten it.

I'm still around, but CKCK and my school, Elsie Dorsey, have since gone. But the song remains, and now I can hear it by someone else other than myself!

p.s. I have been in Houston, Tx since '87.

  • Oh My Gosh!

I have sung this all my life, and drove my sister and her friend crazy singing this while out fishing up north - they were ready to throw me overboard!!!

FINALLY! I can hear it again! the WHOLE THING! LOL!

    THANK YOU!

  • It almost seems like Dennis L was in VTR running

it..nice tracking! :) I ran into Carol Gay Bell(the writer of it) this afternoon and started humming it! This will be passed to the "old timers" email list. The color version is around on film in studio 61vault.(I could never remember the numbers after I left). Dave A has the audio track that we played on the 50 th parade float.

I was known as "The Mole" when I worked there(in VTR) and did stills for the 50th anniversary.

    Ron B

  • Hey, nice to hear from someone who worked there. I taped this off air sometime around 1993 on a 1983-vintage JVC VCR, which explains the poor tracking. :( I remember the colour version that used to pop up from time to time, and wouldn't mind seeing it again sometime.

  • @brithgob

  • Wow, what a headtrip! I feel like I should be sitting on the floor in my parent's livingroom with a big bowl of macaroni, and this is playing during a commercial break while I'm watching "The Flintstones" at lunchtime! Thanks for posting!

  • @bluedart340 HAH! Yah, I remember when CKCK tried to replace The Flintstones with some Japanimation crap program and within 2 weeks it was back to the reliable and fun Flintstones! I was in college by then, but this ad had been playing in different filmed versions since I was a kid!

  • @bluedart340 dito LOL

  • Wow, that was cool! Where on earth did you find it, with video attached?

I'll have to make one for Brantford, Ontario now. I have the same song on a single produced for CKPC radio.

  • It's from a CKCK-TV anniversary show.

I know CKOC and CKCK were sister stations under Armadale. I wonder if their Winnipeg station CKRC did a version as well.

  • I also wanted to thank you for identifying the production company that created the music. I've amended the video information on "Wonderful Hamilton" to credit Richard Ullman & Associates.

  • Thank-you....... I have called and emailed CTV for this one. I know it by heart from my childhood. I'm 50 now and my parents still laugh when I sing this one.
