  • I wish to thank you.

  • At last! It finally sounds like a polyphonic work -- which it is. Not to mention, a virtuoso polyphonic work -- which it definitely is. Brilliant!

  • Wonderful! I love the dynamics!

  • Simply Rich

  • Whilst I appreciate all commentators' views on the TEMPO of this piece as played by this Group, I equate it with the Varieties of Roses and their varying colours and textures, for looking at each of them, and if you ENJOY the characteristics of each, then their VARIED SPECIES does not matter at all. As "To Every Season, Turn,Turn,Turn.", There is also "To every piece of music, Tempo,Tempo,Tempo" no matter how varied these tempos might be, so long as the LISTENER enjoy each tempo in its own way.

  • red from dick figures called this song "unicorn barf"

  • Never heard this piece played in this tempo, and I see from some of the comments that others haven't either. I like to experience music from different perspectives, and this is certainly that for me, I applaud the artistry of the musicians and appreciate the variations that different artists bring to music. Bravo!

  • @stockboy15 Totally agree. It is a much quicker tempo not quite as relaxing but much more uplifting.

  • violin verson nice.....

  • In my opinion, this is one of the worst versions I've heard from this. (my favorite classical work of all times, by the way)

Beauty of this piece is in its sensation and emotion it generates while you're hearing it. This is too fast. and I honestly disliked it. (BTW, that wasn't me on the dislike button xD)

  • I wonder who the infidel was that clicked the "dislike" button. MAK is amazing, as usual :-)

  • takes some time to get used to, but now it does hit you faster! For some occasions, I do like the slower version more. But I must say: pachabel rocks ;)

  • this is the original speed actually. According to research, it has been shown that the tempo for music has been getting slower over time or this is truly the most authentic one...

  • THIS is the way the Kanon was MEANT to sound! as Pachelbel intended!!!

  • これが本場の演奏というものですね。

    じゃなきゃこういう演奏は聴けないよ・・・。

  • Absolutely marvelous! These guys mean business. Very exciting performance with great gusto and drive.

  • too fast for me

  • @tantepotty A bit fast indeed.

  • A bit fast compared with what? Certainly not compared to tempi in Pachelbels time...

  • I can hear this piece 10/20 times consecutivly and never bore me!!! its perfect

  • At a Cultural level, this piece of music stands as the penultimate evidence of the remarkable achievement of European Culture (From The Renaissance Period) and its high level of human imagination and creation; namely, how with only 5 simple Chords A MOST MAGICAL AND HEAVENLY PIECE OF MUSIC CAN BE CONSTRUCTED. Chords: D A Bm G D G A, then back to start with D. only PACHELBEL could do that, and he did. In my humble opinion.

  • @ZadZadrack

I love this piece don't get me wrong, but this pattern had been done long before Pachelbel did it.

  • @ZadZadrack many good songs use a limited number of chords.

  • @ZadZadrack interesting and so true good sir

  • @ZadZadrack small correction, D A Bm F#m G D G A :)

  • @vesse771 :THANK YOU. I normally play the Chord starting with C major, and when I played then starting with D, I missed the F# Minor. My error would have become apparent if ever I was to play the Chords starting with D Major. Thank you pointing out this tome.Cool. Now,my problem, is to learn to play the Arpeggios of the Piece on the Piano. I can only play Rhythm Guitar. lol.

  • @ZadZadrack the problem is that almost everyone is using nowadays this (or part of this) chord progression for modern songs/pieces of music... .-.

  • A composition that even Mozart must bow to in the face of its awesome majesty and perfection, and yet capable of being rendered in endless interpretations.

  • Something odd about that portrait. The inscription at the bottom of the portrait reads "Johann Christoph Pachelbel [or Bachelbel ?]. 1748".

    But Pachelbel died in 1706.

So what does 1748 refer to? There appears to be a small inscription below the year that I can't make out. I wonder if this portrait is a posthumous reproduction, made in 1748, of an earlier portrait.

Does the cross to the left of the face signify the he's dead?

  • Musica Antiqua Köln is (was) a gift to mankind :-)

  • Wow! I wish I was one of those musicians playing this...

  • nice tempo

  • !!!maravillosa Version¡¡¡ : )
