Wow thats exactly what I thought you did. I used to edit Analog Videos and I was like the only way they could have got those red lines is from a VCR. thats cool. makes me wanna make a 80's movie too. LOL
Very clever, I thought your measurments of camera distances were almost uncanny with the films you were basing the parody, The only I think could have been done better was some scenes lacked good backgrounds, like principal rooneys office. other than that it was good acting, what did you guys use to shoot this? or is all just filtering and color grading tricks? Nice work. even the ending Title looks authentic, like you guys used a computer program from that era. LOL
@shadyltd080 Thanks man. Yeah we did what we could with what we had. I shot it with a Canon 60D and then ran it through a VCR over and over again. Thanks for watching.
@206Link Was Karate Kid with the "skull kids" punching him? I didn't get that. Most of it is from Say Anything, then there's Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles. I think that's all.
I like the trailer a lot, but it's less believable now that I've seen this. Why? Hairstyles are a give away. No one in the Zelda trailer has that "big and curly 80's hair" look seen in movies like Breakfast Club.
For some reason I keep getting goosebumps at the sixteen candles kiss bit, did in the trailer and now in this comparison vid, how random! Love to the 80s films :) Tho I actually need to see Say Anything
Does anyone have a link to the original trailer used in this video? I searched "Ferris Bueller's Day Off Trailer", but I either got different official trailers or fan-made trailers, not the one that is compared in this video.
Ya know what i compared so many 80s favorites in my mind but to have someone scene by scene compare takes a lot of work, almost behind the scenes. love it and hope for me!!
Only negative thing I have to say is that I think Charlie Sheen called Jeanie by her real name when everyone else called her Shawna. But Link calls her Princess when everyone else calls her princess (which might be an allusions to Star Wars?). That's the one error that's been bugging me the bajillion times I've watched it so far, LOVE IT!!!
Wow, I wouldn't have associated some of those scenes with the ones that they're actually intended to match up with. The only movie of the ones referenced that I haven't seen is Say Anything. I'll hafta check that one out. The Breakfast Club is my favorite 80's movie, though. The scenes with Bender and the principal fighting always crack me up., and seeing these re-enactments was every bit as enjoyable.

Can someone send me a link?
Whiscash97 10 months ago
@Whiscash97 We didn't base it off of just one trailer. It's a bunch of scenes from a bunch of different movies. We made up the flow of the trailer.

@nickfromflc Really? Hm...
Thanks.
