clean rust with 25% Muriatic Acid to water mixture. Pour water in first so as not to splash acid in eyes or skin. Then pour acid in and mix. Set part in and let soak over night. Cleans inside of rusty gas tanks, too. If you are a chicken little or sissy or global warming reactionary then do not try this easy to do example. Do not let aluminum stay in solution longer than 20 minutes. Great for spraying mag and aluminum wheels, too. Can buy the acid at any pool supply and most hardware stores.

You can do the same thing with muratic acid, available at any harware store 5-7 bucks per gallon.

Vinegar does the same thing. Much cheaper to...plus you can pour it down the drain when you are done.
