Umm I don't recall Sir Clive crawling over the finish line 60 lengths last!! How refreshing it is knowing that this years NZ Cup field will Small' free and won't have to worry about team driving and obviously 'juiced up' horses.....
I'm not part of the ATC Syndicate. I don't have to defend the actions of Phil Butcher there, yet if Awesome Armbro sat outside Auckland Reactor, without challenging him, how much of a chance did he have in winning the race? Challenging him is something he would have been very new to and may have been worth a punt. Yes, it would have been planned, whether it was Small, or the Butcher brother who planned it we don't know. Although, we both know that today, in our sport, Team Driving is everywhere.
And im guessing Mightyethain you cheered loudly when poor Awesome Armbro got absolutely slaughtered for the sake of "the team" in the FFA last year? And staggered in 70 lengths last after doing his job on Auckland Reactor....
The darkest day in NZ Harness Racing History. I was at Addington and most peope were disgusted at the antics of ATC syndicate after their "win"...the horse being on active dope charges at the time
@themightyeythain - Im guessing you are an ATC man with the blinkers on!. Because everyone else in the industry knows whats going on. If it was an isolated incident I could forgive but his track record is long and sordid. By the way, how did Changeover go this year? He seemed a bit 'deflated' to me as he battled away midfield...
@Nomorecheats74 Well seeing as you seem to know everything, why don't you take it to the top and get the results changed? Maybe it's because Small was very open when questioned about Tranexamic Acid, and that it doesn't enhance a horse's performance. Maybe you have something personal against Small, because your opinion is as worthless as tits on a bull.
@themightyeythain - Oooh angry little ATC member arent we? Trust me. The industry has had enough of the dubious turnarounds in form, failed drug tests (later thrown out on technicality after months of stalling), blatant team driving and general disgraceful behaviour of the Small team. Ask around outside the syndicate and the Small stable...You, my friend are the minority.
@Nomorecheats74 Actually I'm not an ATC Member, yes my grandfather had a share in a horse trained by Small, you might know the horse...Elsu. I suppose you think he was running under the influence of drugs. I'm not defending Small's actions, but if what he did was so wrong and unlawful, why was he deemed Not Guilty?
@themightyeythain - He wasn't deemed "not guilty". He wriggled his way out on a legal technicality. And it was hardly an isolated incident now was it??
@themightyeythain - Elsu? Yeah I remember him. Hows he going at stud? I hear his stock can barely qualify...I think most unbiased Harness Racing enthusiasts acknowledge Elsu was racing with 'assistance' as well...
@Nomorecheats74 Acknowledge it? But they can't prove it. Tell me, if Small had been charged and handed a ban, then at the end of that ban, came back to be NZ's top trainer, would you change your opinion of him? Or once a cheat, always a cheat?
@themightyeythain - That argument is irrelevant. Because your hero Small slithers his way out of everything with his team of unscrupulous lawyers. The others who you are going to refer to admitted their wrongdoing and did their time
@Nomorecheats74 Oh so you're defending Purdon? That seems a bit unjust, simply because what you, and many others know of Small, think he is the worst cheat in history. Small also admitted what he did, but not that it was illegal, he played within the rules (in place at the time), I'll be honest, if I was him I wouldn't have done it, but we outside that Courtroom, only know what the media released, and people like you, aren't about to budge anyway. Therefore, this conversation has no merit.
Piss off mate. Geoff Small is a great trainer. If you read properly, Tranexamic acid is a drug that stops the horse from bleeding, not enhances performance. If caring for animals is a crime; im guilty as charged.
you cant beat Darren Tyquin! The bestest New Zealand Cup Commentator ever!!!

Take the Sir Clive/Highview Tommy incident in the 2yo Emerald, where they burnt out Tintin in America. This is no different.

No reply from the ATC syndicate. Pathetic and gutless. Their silence over the Awesome Armbro FFA slaughtering is deafening.
