(Too bad, somewhere along the line, he changed from "swing level to the ball" to "swing down on the ball". Right now -- somewhere -- there is a kid pounding a ball into the dirt... probably crying too, cause he hit into a double play...SIGH...)

Don Mattingly was the man. A quiet guy who went about his business in the right way. It's too bad his chronic back problems robbed him of all his power in the second half of his caree.
