@Dablkwid0w2008 The reason we can "see" objects is because light is reflected off of objects into our eyes. No light, no vision. No different if you turn the light off in a closed room. "Theoretically" a cloaking device bends light rays around the person or object being cloaked. This is why when the Predator has his cloak "on" he looks "almost" invisible, because the light goes around him and you see what is behind him. Similar to seeing through a curved fish tank or water cooler. The down.....

However i severely doubt they suceeded in either cloaking or teleporting the ship, as they would be using this technology on a huge scale now (if it had been successful, they would have carried on the experiments regardless of the effects on the crew due to the sheer military potential.)

"Theoretically" a cloaking device bends light rays around the person or object being cloaked. This is why when the Predator has his cloak "on" he looks "almost" invisible, because the light goes around him and you see what is behind him. Similar to seeing through a curved fish tank or water cooler. The down.....

They are effectively blinded. Apparently the Predators mask has the ability to pierce through the cloak so that he can see out. This is why you can see his eyes while he cloaked. Supposedly this is what the military was after on this experiment. Though I think there was more to it that just that.

@quangluu96 Lights on board the ship cannot penetrate the field same as sunlight cannot reflect off the surface of the vessel.From outside the field light rays are "bent around" the ship, so what you see from out side would be a "distortion" much like heat waves you see in the summer coming off the road when the mirage makes the road ahead look "wet". If anything, looking at the ship you'd see a distorted hole in the water. At distance, that would be very acceptable camouflage.I hope that helps.

When you think about it, it would seem that the "cloaking field" would distort everything with in it's range from the point of source.(i.e. the field generator/ emitting device) This would mean that 'everything" on board the ship would be "distorted".(for lack of a better term) Perhaps this is the reason for the crew members supposedly becoming "merged with the ship" in some stories.I would think that this would cause the ship to sink.

Like I said, it's all sci fi, but I uthink there's varying degrees of phase shifting, but you don't phase out of the Universe, more like you shift into a different dimension not percievable from this one, but still in the same physical space, and still in this Universe, and subsequently, still able to observe this dimension, but unable to interact with it.

you would think Einstein would know humans could not withstand a magnetic field powerful enough to bend the light around an entire ship, the story of the bar fight is bullshit humans cant hold an electric charge so it would be impossible for them to produce a magnetic field.
