ITRON WILL NOT RELEASE TECHNICAL SPECS ON THEIR ITRON 900MHz METER. THIS WAS PUT ON OUR HOME WITH OUT OUR CONSENT. NATIONAL GRID WILL NOT REMOVE IT. We MUST opt out. the radiation emmissions of just this device will use up 50% of our limits the FCC has set. With all the other wireless devices the microwave pollution will cause serious health issues as a result. These thugs can not have this kind of power. The corporate culture's mentality is profit over human safety.

If they can program the smart meter VIA WiFi then I am sure its only matter of time some one is able to mess with it.

It's actually ZigBee on the physical layer, but it is TCP/IP-based, so yes it is exploitable. However, encryption and trusted computing tech can make it more tamper-resistant, and I doubt utilities will be able to pick files off of customers' computers.

This is a great meter, but I can promise you some one will be able to bypass the security of tampering and reduce their read. Who and where is this being built? Look, some of the greatest minds "hack" the most secure computer and networks. Someone will hack, and then post it on Google! Itron did a great job, but in the end......not so good.
