Those thrust reversers are the Dee Howard TR7000CX design developed for the Cessna Citation X. Dee Howard at that time was developing a series of target type cold flow thrust reversers for primarily business jet applications. Programs at that time included the TR6000 series for the Falcon 2000 and the TR7000CX for the Citation X. I was the Lead Engineer on the TR7000CX program at Dee Howard which was a sub-contractor to Cessna for the trust reverser development. Good to see it's doing well.
I've landed at SMO a couple of times. Its a pretty tight little airport and when the fog roles in the non-precision approach is a serious slam dunk (you're over 1000 over the threshold at 1/2 mile out).
ya thats what ur supposed to do cuz if u used the brakes 1 ur nose would come down hard and 2 it would skid cuz as soon as the front wheel hits it cant spin cuz the brakes r on it so it skids or possibly sheards off
Actually, jryanhildebrand is correct. It is incorrect procedure to initiate reversers before the main nose gear touches the ground. The reason behind this is because if you actuate the reverser and one fails then you are off the side of the runway.
@elbell206 Depends on the aircraft manual what the manufacturer offers. This plane beside it is small, has a high landing speed comparable to 737-600! There is a cost for 0,92mach (design of wings)! For example Tu154 If you wanted to make a smooth landing you applied reverse thrusters already few meters above the ground. (I know russian plane and they are crazy but still it is interesting)
Nice Video.
