@Hurley474 i ususally hate to argue on youtube, but if you are saying Roy carried the canadiens as a rookie, has won several cups, several playoff MVPs and and revolutionized the position wouldnt that make him the best? much like how Gretzky is great because not only his points but he changed the forward position, while i do agree those other goalies are great, i believe Roy was better than all but Brodeur followed by Hasek than Sawchuk

@Hurley474 Well, both Dryden and Sawchuk were both long before I was born, so I can't really go into much detail about them, other than what I was told, and what their stats are. Albeit, stats to me, are a bit meaningless. I digress though, Yes, Roy would be my 5th choice for best goalie. He has won several cups, carried the Habs in his rookie year, and pretty much revolutionized the way goalies play the game now.

Terry Sawchuk -> Held the record for most shutouts until Brodeur broke it recently, still holds most shutouts in fewest games though.

Ken Dryden-> One of the best goalies of his time.

Dominik Hasek-> By himself, he almost carried the Sabres to a Stanly Cup, and Buffalo was not the greatest team either.

Martin Brodeur-> Holds the record for most wins and most shutouts.

The Red Wings have always had great goalies. Detroit had, has, and will always have one of the better teams in the nhl. This is Jimmy's 2nd year as a Red Wing but he is gonna be here for a long time.

@Swicey69 idk man, he kinda reminds me of tim cheveldae and manny legace, he may look good in the regular season, but when playoff time comes, he scares me, I can see him lean more onto those two goalies than Osgood, Vernon and Hasek

@TUdaToken True true. But honestly Howard is getting better. I can see him more as a Hasek goalie. Cuz he has come up with sum great saves just as Hasek. Like last nights game for instance. Red Wings come back to win it 5-4 in OT. Howard started off horrible then ended with a excellent finish.

@TUdaToken how does he scare you in the playoffs. He is the reason that we even got to the second round of the playoffs. The defense didn't show up last year in the playoffs and our offense did little to help. He's is one of the top goalies in his second season. We just need to ensure come playoff time that our defense can help him out.

@chadnelson12 they were games that he shined in (game 4,5,7 against phoenix and game 4 against the Sharks), but remember that goal he let in game 3 against couture, and our defense is never to blame when shit like that goes down, we have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Stuart, and Kronwall, he was the reason why we lost to the Sharks in 5 games, but I'll judge him more in this season's playoffs than I will last season

@TUdaToken there always going to be goals like that , it's part of the game, but when your defense is givng up breakaways on powereplays every game there is something wrong. Our defense is decent this year, but our offense is a powerhouse. and yes i know lidstrom is the top scoring defenseman, but that doesn't mean as unit there doing that good. Anyways if we do the small things right on defense consistenlty we'll have another cup coming our way this year.

the reason why it took him so long is because he played college. believe it or not because in college youre not likely to get many games when your a freshman or sophmore and that lets him develop slower but more efficiently and when you get to the show then you still have that same learning curve where it takes you longer
