IMO, this was really the first wrestling game that was great. Royal Rumble for SNES was good, but you were only able to do so much and didn't have a big roster to choose from. These were the good days for sure.

I got WWE '12 a few days ago. As far as next-gen wrestling games go, it's alright, but the music is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! They have the same 2 tracks play over and over again. Thank god for the ability to listen to your own music. But seriously, what's up with the soundtracks now?! The days of AKI's wrestling games were seriously the best. The music was just fantastic, the gameplay was just outstanding, and there was actually blood in the games!!! I think I'll go play WCW nWo Revenge now.

@vfIskullangel Laziness on THQ's part. Smackdown was great and these games were too. There were different wrestling games for different systems. The Gamecube games were take it or leave it but got much better over time while the PS2 Smackdown games were fantastic. Unfortunately when Smackdown vs Raw came out they simply ported the same game across all systems and complacency kicked in. They are rebooting the franchise with their next game 'WWE 12', although I am not yet convinced.

Did anyone ever notice that out of the THQ/AKI games for both WCW and WWF, this game was the absolute hardest? I found it to be much easier on expert for No Mercy than I did on normal for this one. Awesome fucking game, and the music IS the best for any wrestling game that doesnt feature Bret Hart's theme song.

I agree that VPW64 was ultimately better, but it's basically World Tour with some minor improvements and roster additions. It's not a huge difference like Wrestlemania 2000/No Mercy and VPW 2.
