Mit was 18 years old in 1965. Why didn't he serve: 3 deferments to France as a missionary. Romney has 5 military age sons and not one decided to serve his country. Doesn't seem like a very patriotic family to me. It would be a disgrace if he became our president. How could he ask others to serve when none of his own would???
MORMONISM IS NOT A CHRISTIAN RELIGION! BE CAREFUL THAT YOU ARE NOT LEAD INTO THE DECEPTION OF THIS PROVEN FALSE RELIGION!
I read this book and highly recommend it for everyone who is looking in to this blasphemous religion that can take your soul to hell. The author grew up in the Mormon Church and it is a completely FALSE RELIGION!
Arm yourselves! Read the book: “CAN MITT ROMNEY SERVE TWO MASTERS? The Mormon Church Versus The Office Of The Presidency of the United States of America”
1) REAGAN MADE SOVIET UNION DISAPERED AND OPENED EYES TO RUSSIA NOW THEY ARE BECOMING CAPITALISTIC COUNTRY
2) BUSH WAS DRUNK MADE TWIN TOWERS COLLAPSED, KILLED 3000 AMERICANS AND MADE THE WHOLE COUNTRY TO HAVE POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER, NOW EVERYBODY IS
PARANOID THANKS TO REPUBLICANS
3) SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON FUCKING LEWINSKY DRESS INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON EUROPEAN UNION CREATED EUROS RON PAUL IS TYPICAL PSYCHOPATH WITH NO EMOTIONS HE WILL SELL USA TO CHINA !!
Here is a typical politician floundering along, with people catching up to his game. He doesn't speak from the heart. He is just saying what people want to hear from him.
Contrast with Ron Paul, who has been saying the same thing for three decades, while being ridiculed the whole time until recently.
Ron Paul is the only hope for America. If you don't see that, read his book "Revolution". It will wake you up.
The big Govern-Mental SHOW - Things will get better up til SELECTION TIME - youtube Ron Paul watch Romney show up notice how fake i mean close the race is folks All shows have to be close, last year Ron Paul was literally BLACKED out no punt intended, the year before the winner of Florida lost after winning it an obvious Govern Mental Dog and pony show for the gullible.
@MrFCKFOXNEWS Hell Demofaggot! Please kindly gtfo this video? Your opinion is bull shit, and sadly, MSNBC is much worse than Fox News. As biased as Fox News can be, it is 3,000 times better than your shit. Mitt Romney will show himself perfectly. DemoFAGGOTS are the whores who run like roaches when justice's light hits them. :P Worthless shit.
Wow! I can't stomach the rest of this speech, no wonder he had his ass handed to him by Ron Paul. I'm surprised that it took so called "conservatives" 3yrs to wake up. Oh, and Conme supporters what's conservative about being anti-gun,pro abortion, pro socialized health care, pro open borders, and being for crony capitalism to name but a few things Conme's for.
mormans crack me up. its the dog ate my homework religion. I FOUND THESE BOOKS FROM GOD! WELL LETS SEE THEM! WELL MY WIFE BURNED THEM IN A FIRE! BUT I REMEMBER IT VERBATEM, JUST ASK MY BROTHER, HE SAW THEM! and people follow this bs?
and were tlken bout him being a morman why? caus that has anyting to do with his politics....ohh but u hav to attack that cause u cant actually challenge his ideas with any intelligence
Well, Islam says to kill everyone who doesn't believe the way they do. The "good" Muslims are the ones following their religion faithfully and flying planes into buildings. The "bad" ones are the one who won't do what their religion demands of them as faithful believers.
Soooooooo....I think Mormonism--a religion I don't take seriously or follow--has a leg up on the liberals' favorite "religion of peace."
@mikemoair there's plenty of copies of one of the most read books in history, if yours was "eaten by a dog" or "burned." I think you relate more to the "dog ate my homework religion" - You're the class clown who makes fun of the brighter students, because it's easier than actually doing your homework, reading and coming up with an intelligent thought
man ole mitt just couldn't stand not telling that guy on the airliner what to do could he? why doesnt this tight ass have at least a citaion of his own to fly in, or is he still flying on eldon's falcon 900 for free, i hate rich and cheap
I agree that Mitt Romney would made a great speech. I'm not sure if I'll vote for him though. I'm considering Huckabee. But right now, I'm 50-50 between choosing Huckabee and Romney. I'm tied up, can't decide for now.
Romney and Huckabee are more bought and sold politician by the global elites to carry out their agenda and both will physically do zero to shrink the government when they get in office. Ron Paul is our only hope if you truly want smaller government.
Interesting. A "conservative" who supports TARP, Social Security, a "well-regulated" market, and he wishes Obama well. I agree with him on these points, and I think he's got them right. But thats because I'm not conservative, and apparently neither is he.
Just because one is conservative doesn't mean they don't support a liberal president.. we won't be consumed by the hatred the left was during Bush's presidency. You must have been sleeping during the first few minutes of his speech.
Way to disregard my first three points. And by the way, consider the assholes who cheered Chicago's not getting the Olympics, the "I hope he fails" crowd that watches Limbaugh, and all that.
I live in Chicago, and we did NOT want the Olympics. We would lose alot of money on the deal. I love how anyone who disagrees with Obama is just doing so out of spite!? Obama and his liberal agenda are a fad and will be whiped clean in 2010 and 2012.
That may be true about the Olympics, I don't know, but its not the point. The point was that the Limbaugh crowd, the Weekly Standard, ect. all wanted Chicago not to the get Olympics sheerly because Obama supported it. They didn't care about the city, they just wanted Obama to lose out of spite.
where has mitt the mormon been with the health care reform debate going on?...why doesnt mitt come up with a reform plan?....or say if he thinks DEATH PANELS are in the reform plan....or if mitt thinks illegal immigrants will be covered?.....is it b/c mitt is too cowardly to weigh in with his opinion?
OUR military budget INCREASED by 4% for 2009-2010 with Obama Over W
We are Up 21,000 Troops and We have been bombing Pakistan daily since Obama took office with bush doctrine cause we all know our congress has not declared war on them.
MittWitt is the champion of the WARFARE state which breeds the WELFARE State
110% fraud - check out his donations
all from Wall Street - He has zero support from Main street!
Supporting and signing into law Universal health care for MA is the farthest thing from being a conservative -- former Procchoice gay rights advocate -- mitt witt is a fraud!
"before federal officials haul me off for practicing capitalism"...
Wow.. what a douche.. Does this guy live in reality, at all? No chance for 2012. I feel sorry for the republican party. It would be very refreshing if they came up with a candidate that actually thrives in reality, as opposed to resorting to juvenile lunacy and gimmicks.
He's going to lose.. Not a chance. Ask anyone with half a brain. Obama has the highest approval rating of a sitting president in years, and it's probably not going anywhere. Romney doesn't have NEAR the capabilities of Obama.
Typical republican distorting facts.. His approval rating is 58% and disapproval is 32%. 58% is a pretty damn good approval rating considering the republicans have been attacking full force with any lies or distortions they can muster. Quite the propaganda machine, that ole' GOP.
Also, I never said he had "the highest approval rating".. Once again, distorting facts.
Obama's approval ratings are plummeting! Even Carter's at this time were better than Obama's! Romney has many more capabilities. His turnaround of the '02 Winter Olympics is just one of many examples. All Obama is is a charismatic, eloquent PUPPET! His petty experience consists of voting to murder unwanted post-term babies, anarchist friendships, and 20 years attending a religion that preached hate. Wow, he just has so much on Romney let me tell ya!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
ROFL!!! ... Republican approval ratings are three times as worse... keep dreaming, buddy. No one wants to touch that party with bigfoot's dick. They're a joke.. That's why it's so funny, and yet not surprising at all, that republicans would automatically count lower polling results for Obama as meaning their polling higher, when they're not.. GOP polls are in the trash. Even if Obama's polling was on the curb.. GOP has long been sent out to the land fill. Get a clue.
Get a clue? You're the idiot who voted for OBAMA!...you're the one who needs to get a clue. If you dream socialism so much then move to Europe. America doesn't want you...you're much like the loyalist pricks that had to be deported back to England after the revolutionary war. Wake up and smell the fresh cut grass... because that's all you'll be doing once Obama puts you out of a job.
By the way, you have a problem with socialism? I suggest you get out right now, and start protesting police departments, fire depts, roads, bridges, the military, NASA, and about a gazillion other socialised programs in the united states.. Pull your head out of your ass, and stop pretending like the concept of socialism is new to the United states. The only thing we don't have, that the rest of the civilized world has, is universal healthcare.
Those are not socialism, it doesn't mean socialism don't tell others to pull their heads out of anywhere when you don't even know what you're talking about. You run a business? I'm amazed considering you sound like a real dumb ass.
As if Dems have done SOOOOO much the our nation since they took over Congress, let me tell ya!!!!! Your partisan antics are ridiculous. Can't believe you were dumb enough to fall for Obama...not that McCain was much better, he wasn't. Get your facts, then one day, God willing, you may just get a CLUE!
If you were building the perfect conservative candidate for president, you would make him look & talk like Romney does now. The problem is that he has flip-flopped on so many issues that I don't know if I can trust him as a genuine conservative.
Romney works for Bain Capital. He will bailout the billionaires at your expense and will inflate the value of your money until your pay will make you live like a Walmart employee. He will start fake wars so that bankers can lend money to our bankrupt country at interest and so weapons makers can profit while Marines are suckered into dying for a new generation of lies. When will the cycle of lying end? When will America regain its standing? When we go back to the Constitution.
@iratetruth ROMNEY'S 2012 PLAN CUTS MEDICARE--Ron Paul’s plan cuts $1 trillion the first year and it balances the budget in 3 years. The plan cuts spending - ending the costly foreign wars, and cuts foreign welfare, corporate welfare, and overgrown federal bureaucracy. These cuts are made so that those who are dependent on domestic spending programs such as Medicare aren’t endangered through a sudden change in benefits. Romney’s plan cuts Medicare, on which many elderly Americans rely.
let me clear you up on one thing fella ,obama is not calling inocent muslim families terroist like the gop and fox news trying to get them all killed, and wasnt it bill oreilly who sat up there and said kill all the afgans ,the women and the children, hell wouldt you be angry hear these old bastard telling us to kill them all ,hannity said that were in danger from all the muslims even the ones here in the us ,so we should do what we do best listen to him and kill them all, like were his puppets
mitt romey is on hannity right now 5/2/09 saying that we are in danger ,were alll going to die ,we should kill those people obama is trying to make peace wit ,so mit you want us to send troops into other countries now and get slaghtered cause you and the republican dicks want blood ,now hannity wants you white people to jump on muslims now ,you know the same inocent ones they had you jumping on after the 911 attack ,wow fox news ,you want us to kill the muslims now ,how other countries too fox
Are you following Obama? Obama is carrying on almost all of Bush's foreign policies, and I take it you're an Obama supporter. Too bad he's the biggest puppet the Bilderberg Group and Trilaterial Commission have ever had. And you thought Bush was bad? You just wait. Obama is playing with the general public and has warped more people than Bush did. Obama is simply carrying on Bush's policies. What do you have to say about Obama saying he would invade Palestine if needed during his primaries?
"These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense," Romney said. "They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people." - Gov. Romney 2004
Mitt Romney had half his campaign paid for by Robert Lichfield, a man who has had countless class action lawsuits filed against him over the horrifying child abuse in his residential treatment centers for teens.
Does Romney turn a blind eye to repeat child abusers in order to make a little cash? It would appear so!
Whoever it was I was commenting on must have gone back and and removed their broken English commentary. The language skills I was referring to were those of an illegal immigrant. The broken English writing which comprises the vast majority of the comments on these dopey Youtube comments sections.

My state NC, flipped why? Young white kids and blacks voted along with republicans who didn't like McCain. i liekd Romney and I didn't like McCain yet I casted a vote for him even though I knew Osama would win.
I love seeing Mitt Romney get applause at CPAC. Mitt is pro-choice, supports gay rights more than Ted Kennedy does, he signed universal health care into law, and he's from Massachusetts.
The left is taking over while the right worships Rush Limbaugh. It's a good time to be a liberal.
I like Ron Paul but I think he wants to move too fast in shutting down all unconstitional social programs.
He is definately on the right track though.
But just as the progressives have pushed their agenda incrementally, until Obama, we are going to have to reverse their damages incrementally. We are going to have to ween the babies off of the government. That is going to be hard to do.
Well I don't think it will happen as fast as you think. Sure he says he will cut this program and that program, but realisticaly he knows it'll take time (especially if a lot of things take the approval of congress). If he doesn't run in 2012, and if the campaign for liberty doesn't have a candidate to rally for; I'll probably vote libertarian again lol.
During the primaries my favorite was Mitt Romney and I was still a Republican. When Mitt lost I did a major revaluation of my beliefs because I just could not believe that "conservatives" would choose McCain over Romney. It was then that I truely discovered what a "neo-con" was. They are the ones pushing for more social programs. They don't represent Reagan. They are the Arlen Spector's of the party.
alba there are many groups and factions in the gop just like there are many in the dem party. each is fighting to have its voice heard louder, but i'd say the religious right and neocons have gained dominance...though that may change by 2012 because voters are increasingly tired of both groups and ron paul's young base of support might convince the republicans that they need to change or else they'll forever lose the young to the dems.
I am probably considered a part of the religious right.
But I am complete agreement with our founding fathers. They all said that religion is essential in a civilized society. But that religion is a personal matter and not a governmental issue.
There are some positions that I will take that I consider moral issues and not political. For example I would have voted for prop 8 if I still lived in California.
its interesting in the past americans voted for deists and unitarians and now a non-christian has no chance of being president. some congressmen are probably nominal/cultural christians but pretend to be believing christians to get elected. were you one of the evangelicals that supported huckabee over romney? why did you vote for barr rather than the constitution party if you are part of the religious right?
I don't think it is an absolute that a politician has to be religious. But if religious I would hope they LIVE their religion and not just promote themselves with it.
I voted for Romney in the primaries. I thought Huckabee ran a dirty campaign against Romney in Iowa. I am not part of the so called "evangelical" movement. I am LDS, like Romney.
I thought Barr had a better chance than Baldwin. Right after I voted for Barr I found out some things that made wish I had voted for Baldwin.
i agree there shouldnt be a religious requirement for politicians and the constitution backs that. unfortunately national surveys say most americans are uneasy about electing a non-christian and most are unwilling to consider voting for an agnostic or atheist candidate. that doesnt surprise me since usa is the only 1st world nation where most reject/question evolution (even theistic evolution). as kathleen parker wrote the gop may be getting too religious and fundamentalist for its own good
It is easy to understand why when the vast majority of people consider themselves Christian in some form or another.
Even though there are so many "Christians" that don't act like Christians there is this sense of knowing what you are getting. Christianity has some fairly high standards even though many Christians do adhere to those standards any more.
While athiests are an unknown quantity. There is no atheist bible so there is nothing to measure the character of an athiest by.
First off I was just explaining why there seems to be a litmus test for politicians.
But more importantly you have fallen into that hatred trap yourself. There was violence in the Bible. That violence was specific to those situtations and not for our time. There are no commandments for Christians or Jews to continue with that violence.
I don't know about Muslims. I have never read the Koran. I hear that is not a violent book but there have always been some violent Muslims.
hatred trap? lol rubbish. ive criticized any fundamentalism cuz it can lead to violence but im not against faith. if you want to pray to the abrahamic sky god, rocks, britney spears, richard dawkins, etc thats your choice. what happened during the age of enlightenment was not only good for w. europe but for the world b/c it helped lead to modern science and secular government.
as for religious books they are spiritual books but some take them literally and that can cause problems esp islam
I used the phrase "hatred trap" for a reason. You are generalizing all religion as violent. You get into trouble when you make such assumptions. That is like saying all Muslims are terrorists.
When you make that generalization to impune the large majority of religionists that non-violent.
Stalin was an athiest and he killed tens of millions of Russians. Should I impune all athiest as genocidal manics because of Stalin?
the key to future elections is youth (gen y and latter part of gen x) so the repubs should move beyond a president that was first elected 29 years ago. besides reagan went along with the dem congress and granted amnesty and ballooned the deficit. nixon and reagan both captured the young vote but its the opposite today and the youth are leaning more and more dem. through the dlc and blue dogs the dems have enlarged their tent; the repubs have not. that has to change if the gop wants to survive.
most americans (and young americans increasingly) support roe v wade, some requirements for gun owners (background checks, permits, registration), laws to protect endangered species and environment, border security, government staying out of people's personal lives...something for the republican party and its chairman to consider.
This is too bad. The young people need to be educated about the truth of those issues. Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional. The Supreme Court is not allowed to legislate, that is a state's issue.
So many of the other issues you mentioned are fronted by socialism.
The notion that conservatives want to interfere with people's personal lives is absurd. The left is all about Socialism where the individual is expendable and the collective is supreme. That is evil.
Most of gen X and gen Y don't even know who Reagan was. I didn't fully understand his significance at the time because I didn't care about politics.
Reagan did sign bad law but he was held by a Dem majority. It was either sign a bad bill that had other items he fought for or do nothing. Many times he did nothing but then he grew frustrated.
Nixon was a "Progressive" Republican. I don't consider him conservative, much like the 2 Bush's.
ike was tough on immigration and balanced national budget and he didnt consider israel a priority so in that respect he was more conservative than reagan although he was considered a moderate repub at the time. and yes some conservatives (often religious) want to impose their usually religious values onto others which is why they oppose abortion, animal welfare/rights, euthanasia, stem cell research, cloning and they oppose allowing things like drugs, polygamy, incest, prostitution for adults
Many of those things that you mentioned are part of a moral decay in society. It is easy to understand why Christians oppose them.
Religiously and actually historically when the people as a whole became corrupt either their civilization fell apart or their freedom was lost.
Is it wrong to legislate morality? Consider the laws that were in place when our nation was founded. They would seem barbaric to Dems and Libertarians today yet they existed and our founder supported them.
We have and do regulate morality. Is is not immoral to murder, steal, cheat, etc.
I believe in absolutes. Morality is not subjective to the individual. There are moral issues that most people would find common ground. You may not like this but what most of us find moral comes out of the the Judeo/Christian ethic that has permeated our culture for centuries.
how is my argument relativist? lol. in fact my posts have been critical of multiculturalism. also the examples you bring up affect innocent moral agents. abortion, cloning, animal protection, euthanasia and adults doing incest, polygamy, sodomy, prostitution, drug use do not.
you may not like this but judeo-christian ethics arent that unique and the west has been pagan longer than its been christian. laws/ codes against things like stealing or killing existed in pagan and non-christian societies.
kathleen parker wrote an article about how the repubs' use of religion (more specifically christianity, bible, yahweh) will backfire in the 21st century. in the west more people are becoming cultural/nominal christians or turning to eastern religions, spirituality, deism, pantheism, agnosticism, or atheism. the religious right in america has already repelled many irreligious or non-christian people from the party so she might be right about future trends.
I am no longer concerned with the Republican Party. I left them because they seemed to want to be Democrats lately.
There is a lot of misinformation right now about Christianity. There is a lot of bias and bigotry against them now. This, more than anything, has caused the repulsion away from Christianity.
Ironically it is Christianity that teaches all the values and principals that society claims as good.
yes if people want to criticize religion they should be open to criticizing any and not just pick on christianity. a belief in christianity (or any other religion) is not necessary to appreciate how religion has affected art, literature, etc. you seem to believe morality depends on religion. an atheist thats kind just for the sake of being good is more admirable than the religious person that acts the same way b\c he fears a god or wants to get saved by doing so.
as for state rights states are entitled to certain rights but states cannot do anything they want or defy national law. the founding fathers saw how the articles of confederation failed cuz it gave states too much power so they wanted a fair national way of maximizing liberty and sustaining a nation. so they ratified the constitution to establish a representative democracy to prevent direct democracy which could lead to tyranny of the majority
Lincoln was responsible for the weakening of states rights, not our founding fathers. On 1 hand it was necessary to free the slaves but on the other hand it gave the fed way too much power.
Did you know that in the late 1830's it was legal to shoot a Mormon in the state of Missouri? That is how much control our founders gave states.
My opinion that the most authority to govern resides with the individual and then works it way up through city, county, state and then the fed.
"Did you know that in the late 1830's it was legal to shoot a Mormon in the state of Missouri?"
id have to see a source on that but thats a good example of the tyranny of the majority the founding fathers wanted to prevent. they didnt believe states could do whatever they want or override national law. thats why they ditched the articles of confederation in favor of the constitution. when states go against the fed govt they always lose. the gop is the party of abe
But our founders didn't codify in that in law. It wasn't until the equal protection amendment under Lincoln that states were not allowed to violate the US Constitution.
Look up Missouri Gov. Lilburn Boggs or Mormon Extermination Order, It happened 1838
But the states did violate the constitution prior to the equal protection amendment. The federal government did not have the power to trump states rights until the 13th & 14th Amendments. It was how the feds were able to abolish slavery in every state.
Like I said in another post I don't care about the Repubs. I used to be a Repub but they took a huge step to the left with both Bush's and McCain. I am vehemently opposed to socialism or any other form of collectivism.
It depends on the religion and also on the scientist.
Remember what the scientists did under Hitler to the Jews. Eugenics is a part of the world wide progressive (i.e. socialist, fascist, nazi, communist and nationalist) movement.
Planned Parenthood was created to prevent blacks from having as many babies.
The percieved problems with science and religion actually is neither. It is when either one becomes politicized. That is where mankinds greatest cruelties come from.
lol people on the right and left have proposed eugenics. as for abortion most moderates and libertarians support it and a significant number of repubs do too. when the gop held power they didnt try to touch roe v wade cuz that would be political suicide. the religious right has politicized religion and goldwater, george will, etc are critical of it. the religious and neocon nuts are ruining the gop. theyve already killed it in the northeast, west coast, and now the upper midwest and outer south.
That is because both parties are the same party. They are 2 sides of the same coin. They play the game of polorization so that they stay in power. It matters little if it is Repubs or Dems. They are one in the same.
That is why the Repubs have not fought for or recended anything their constituants want. It is not a matter of policital suicide it is a matter of control. Abortion falls perfectly in line with the eugenicists. As long as they keep that legal they can use it as a tool.
both parties are held by corporate special interests. pro-choice means personal freedom and preventing overpopulation. reps have used abortion to get pro-life votes and now its backfiring. because of changing population and the unpopularity of the religious right and neocons the gop has already lost important former repub states (ca, nh, fl, va, pa to name some). if they try to overturn roe v wade theyd lose most american voters and not be able to use abortion to get pro-life votes anymore.
There may be some corporations involved but it goes deeper than corporations. Right now is it the world bank, the UN and the Federal Reserve that is selling us out.
Pro-choice is the modern interpretation of eugenics as well as over-population. That myth has been around since I was a teenager. In the 70's we were supposed to be starving death by 10 years ago because of over-population.
Roe v. Wade should be overturned regardless of it popularity. The liberal Supreme Court violated the Constitution when that case was settled. The Courts are NOT the legislative body of our government. Our legislative body has to be elected by the people. Otherwise you have tyranny and it does not matter if you agree with this decision or not. Unelected officials have NO right to legislate.
The other fallicy is this assumed right to privacy. The Consitution is silent on this right.
thats a contradiction. you said you want voters to decide things like gay marriage yet you dont think their opinion matters on abortion. when roe came out the gop platform supported it (though that changed when reagan invited the religious right into the party) and goldwater backed it. pro-lifers are inconsistent cuz why arent they against death penalty or pet shelter euthanasia? they are anti-abortion and anti-individual rights and almost all pro-lifers are religious so they base it on religion
I'm not being contradictory. Roe v. Wade was never given to the voters to decide. It was decided by unelected men.
Support for something is NOT an election.
Also when Roe v. Wade came out it only permitted abortions in the FIRST trimester. That didn't last long before the Abortion loonies pushed it right up until it was half born.
Obama opposed legislation in Illinois that would save babies that survived an abortion after birth. These babies were born and let starve to death.
you want voters to decide things like same sex marriage but you want roe v wade overturned although most americans want it to stay. goldwater and ford supported roe, goldwater wanted to let americans use illegal drugs legally, ford stood behind gay marriage, and they werent lib loonies.
you said rush, sean, ann play into the gop hands but they are the ones annoying most of the country and trying to purge the party and make it exclusive not inclusive.
First off let me break apart your arguement that most Americans want legalized abortion. That depends on who is having the abortion and for what reason. You will find that the support for abortion as a contraceptive diminished into a small minority. But if you add abortion for rape, incest or danger to the mother you will find a huge number support that.
You also need to know that that middle group gets counted by the pro-life people because they don't support abortion as a contraceptive.
study after study, including fox news and gallup and rasmussen, show most americans support roe v wade. you mentioned things like partial birth abortion to try to change the topic from roe to contraceptives in general. doesnt change the fact you contradicted your earlier argument.
you're a fool if you don't see that you contradicted your earlier argument lol
you keep saying majority opinion doesn't matter yet you justify people keeping gay marriage or marijuana illegal through ballots that require majority vote. can't have your cake and eat it too
My argument was about the validity of the voting process. No elected representative of the people decided on making abortion legal. There is no national process for voting for such issues because we are a Republic.
Abortion became national law through illegal channels.
I said NOTHING about gay marriage or marijuana. Those issues are being handled by the state as abortion should be.
States have the right allow voting these issues. In Cal. the majority voted against gay marriage twice
if you didnt know secular and moderate repubs and libertarians were in the party way before the religious right, southerners, and neocons joined. the religious right didnt exist until the late 70s when theocrats urged reagan to listen to them. according to you that was a good thing. falwell's dead and the pioneers of that movement are aging and once the gop crashes itll allow the repubs to base their party back in the northeast and upper midwest and reinvent the party in a more sensible way
"illegal channels"? the same ones that decided brown vs board of education, engels, and lawrence vs texas? lol you said national opinion doesnt matter so in that case the court should reverse every decision its made and legalize all adult activities
I also disagree with your assessment of Rush, Sean and Ann. Like I said I don't listen (or read in Ann's case) them any more.
But they are just commentators. You are giving them far more power than they have. The ones that are being exclusive are the party hacks in congress. The ones pushing the parties to either extreme.
They are both leaving out the people that just want them to follow the constitution and be honest. They are destroying this nation right before our eyes.
i didnt give them more power. i posted the fact they, along with many in the current republican base, are intolerant of diverse views and forgetting the roots of the party. didnt you look at the 08 election map? the repubs used to be strong in the northeast, west, and midwest. its becoming a regional and not a national party. one would assume its now mostly full of rubes and bible thumpers. bloomberg and chafee left the gop and buckley jr hinted lincoln must be rolling in his grave lol
You're way off base. The Republican party is dominated by the progressives (the leftists). If what you said was true with would be talking about what President Huckabee was doing for the economy.
Instead we have Jackass Obama destroying our nation by killing the dollar and sending us spiraling into socialism.
This last election had McCain (progressive) leading. Followed by Romney (moderate) and then Huckabee. Us "rubes", clinging to our God and guns, didn't stand a chance.
I agree with you on the Neo Cons because they are NOT conservatives. They are progressives masquerading as conservatives.
Not all of the religious right has politicized religion and there is a fair amount of politicization of religion on the left as well. One example is Rev Jeremiah Brown, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years.
I don't agree 100% with Goldwater but he is a far cry from a neo con.
Neo cons are not the constitutionalists like myself, they are the progressives like McCain
i agree the left politicizes things too. nixon and reagan won record reelection victories. you said you are of the religious right so you probably agree with rush and sean that mccain lost cuz hes center right. those men are college dropouts and not real experts. political analysts from left and right have said mccain lost b/c the gop has alienated almost every group after the religious right, neocons, and states rights dixiecrats took it over. the repubs are now a regionalized party
I don't listen to Sean or Rush. I used to listen to them frequently but, while I agree with their politics, I see them as part of the problem. They only point out the flaws in the left (that is like shooting fish in a barrel) while ignoring the flaws of the Republicans. They are either knowingly or unknowingly playing into the hands of the Republicrat party by helping to polarize the nation.
I believe all Americans should have a voice and not be marginalize into Religious Right, etc.
What are you saying here. Obviously there is no Dixiecrat party any more. But states rights goes back to our founders. Are you opposed to states rights?
I am not. I think politics should start at the city and go up from there to the federal, with the federal being the weakest body. That is what our founders set up.
The progressives and usurpted that and are making the fed all powerful. That's bad for the country..
i obviously wasnt referring to a current dixiecrat party. the post was talking about what the gop has become after the southern strategy and religious right came into play. the founding fathers wanted to prevent tyranny of the majority which is why they ratified the constitution instead of the articles of confederation and set up a republic not a direct democracy. they and goldwater would be aghast at the idea of having state referendums or laws on how adults choose to live their lives.
Methinks you don't know what the Articles of Confederation were. Do you know what a Confederacy is? It has nothing to do with a tyranny of the majority. It is a loosly connect group of states with an extremely weak federal government.
What our founders gave us was not too different. The fed had more responsibilities, defense, general welfare (not a dole for the poor), etc. but is still supposed to be not much more than a confederation.
you've yet to answer on whose morality should certain actions between consenting adults be banned, why the founders established a republic and not a direct democracy (as you'd like), and you've yet to make your case a decline in religiosity leads to immorality. maybe you're unable to answer lol as for abortion if you don't like it don't have one and if you want organized prayer or 10 commandments in public buildings post them and pray in your own home
Stop it. I am not your straw man. Quit putting words in my mouth.
I have repeated many times that I am a constitutionalist, therefore, not a supporter of democracy. I don't want organized prayer in public building but I am also not opposed to them either.
10 Commandments monuments that have been installed in public decades or centuries ago do not bother me and it does not violate the 1st Amendment.
I have never said that I would ban any legal activity between consenting adults.
dont tell people to stop expressing their opinions. if you get carried away with comments thats your problem. lol you said govt shouldnt prefer 1 religion over another yet you want 10 commandments in public buildings and are ok with organized prayer in public schools which are all paid for with tax dollars. majority opinion shouldnt decide individual rights. thats why the founders established a republic..to prevent tyranny of the majority. you oppose individual freedom
Morality is decided by the will of the people. The people decide who is most moral to represent them in congress. In states the majority votes for ballot initiatives to decide morality or vote for state and local representatives who best fulfill their morality.
That is how morality is determined in this country.
Maybe Goldwater might have been aghast but that is exactly what our founders envisioned. Read the constitution. All power not mentioned in the constitution we assigned to the state.
The state is and does set referendums on issues however the state's constitutions are written. Some by majority rule and others by state legislative bodies.
I seriously doubt Goldwater was opposed to states rights like you say. If he was then there is something else that I disagree with him on.
Then Goldwater turned around and said that "extremism in defense of liberty is not vice".
Goldwater also said that politics are more important than religion. Perhaps in his world, but politics change with the wind while true religion is eternal.

Let's WRAP our heads around this:
President Mitt Romney, our first Commander-in-Chief that sat out a military draft on a Religious deferment
Romney says his 5 sons of military age serve their country "better" by working on his endless political campaigns of the past decade
So when he attacks Iran, religious deferment Mitt will have no problem sending YOUR sons to war, because his sons have better things to do.

Today the Republicans have become liberals. And Liberals have moved completely to the dark side of socialism.

AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Well I don't think it will happen as fast as you think. Sure he says he will cut this program and that program, but realisticaly he knows it'll take time (especially if a lot of things take the approval of congress). If he doesn't run in 2012, and if the campaign for liberty doesn't have a candidate to rally for; I'll probably vote libertarian again lol.
HeatForce 2 years ago
You are probably right about Ron Paul.
I voted for Bob Barr in the general election.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
alba there are many groups and factions in the gop just like there are many in the dem party. each is fighting to have its voice heard louder, but i'd say the religious right and neocons have gained dominance...though that may change by 2012 because voters are increasingly tired of both groups and ron paul's young base of support might convince the republicans that they need to change or else they'll forever lose the young to the dems.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I am probably considered a part of the religious right.
But I am complete agreement with our founding fathers. They all said that religion is essential in a civilized society. But that religion is a personal matter and not a governmental issue.
There are some positions that I will take that I consider moral issues and not political. For example I would have voted for prop 8 if I still lived in California.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
its interesting in the past americans voted for deists and unitarians and now a non-christian has no chance of being president. some congressmen are probably nominal/cultural christians but pretend to be believing christians to get elected. were you one of the evangelicals that supported huckabee over romney? why did you vote for barr rather than the constitution party if you are part of the religious right?
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I don't think it is an absolute that a politician has to be religious. But if religious I would hope they LIVE their religion and not just promote themselves with it.
I voted for Romney in the primaries. I thought Huckabee ran a dirty campaign against Romney in Iowa. I am not part of the so called "evangelical" movement. I am LDS, like Romney.
I thought Barr had a better chance than Baldwin. Right after I voted for Barr I found out some things that made wish I had voted for Baldwin.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
i agree there shouldnt be a religious requirement for politicians and the constitution backs that. unfortunately national surveys say most americans are uneasy about electing a non-christian and most are unwilling to consider voting for an agnostic or atheist candidate. that doesnt surprise me since usa is the only 1st world nation where most reject/question evolution (even theistic evolution). as kathleen parker wrote the gop may be getting too religious and fundamentalist for its own good
freakazoidodo 2 years ago

AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
hatred trap? lol rubbish. ive criticized any fundamentalism cuz it can lead to violence but im not against faith. if you want to pray to the abrahamic sky god, rocks, britney spears, richard dawkins, etc thats your choice. what happened during the age of enlightenment was not only good for w. europe but for the world b/c it helped lead to modern science and secular government.
as for religious books they are spiritual books but some take them literally and that can cause problems esp islam
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I used the phrase "hatred trap" for a reason. You are generalizing all religion as violent. You get into trouble when you make such assumptions. That is like saying all Muslims are terrorists.
When you make that generalization to impune the large majority of religionists that non-violent.
Stalin was an athiest and he killed tens of millions of Russians. Should I impune all athiest as genocidal manics because of Stalin?

the key to future elections is youth (gen y and latter part of gen x) so the repubs should move beyond a president that was first elected 29 years ago. besides reagan went along with the dem congress and granted amnesty and ballooned the deficit. nixon and reagan both captured the young vote but its the opposite today and the youth are leaning more and more dem. through the dlc and blue dogs the dems have enlarged their tent; the repubs have not. that has to change if the gop wants to survive.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
most americans (and young americans increasingly) support roe v wade, some requirements for gun owners (background checks, permits, registration), laws to protect endangered species and environment, border security, government staying out of people's personal lives...something for the republican party and its chairman to consider.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
This is too bad. The young people need to be educated about the truth of those issues. Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional. The Supreme Court is not allowed to legislate, that is a state's issue.
So many of the other issues you mentioned are fronted by socialism.
The notion that conservatives want to interfere with people's personal lives is absurd. The left is all about Socialism where the individual is expendable and the collective is supreme. That is evil.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Most of gen X and gen Y don't even know who Reagan was. I didn't fully understand his significance at the time because I didn't care about politics.
Reagan did sign bad law but he was held by a Dem majority. It was either sign a bad bill that had other items he fought for or do nothing. Many times he did nothing but then he grew frustrated.
Nixon was a "Progressive" Republican. I don't consider him conservative, much like the 2 Bush's.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
ike was tough on immigration and balanced national budget and he didnt consider israel a priority so in that respect he was more conservative than reagan although he was considered a moderate repub at the time. and yes some conservatives (often religious) want to impose their usually religious values onto others which is why they oppose abortion, animal welfare/rights, euthanasia, stem cell research, cloning and they oppose allowing things like drugs, polygamy, incest, prostitution for adults
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
Many of those things that you mentioned are part of a moral decay in society. It is easy to understand why Christians oppose them.
Religiously and actually historically when the people as a whole became corrupt either their civilization fell apart or their freedom was lost.
Is it wrong to legislate morality? Consider the laws that were in place when our nation was founded. They would seem barbaric to Dems and Libertarians today yet they existed and our founder supported them.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
"Religiously and actually historically when the people as a whole became corrupt either their civilization fell apart or their freedom was lost."
example?
"Is it wrong to legislate morality?"
based on whose morality though?
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
Yours is the relativist arguement.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
how is my argument relativist? lol. in fact my posts have been critical of multiculturalism. also the examples you bring up affect innocent moral agents. abortion, cloning, animal protection, euthanasia and adults doing incest, polygamy, sodomy, prostitution, drug use do not.
you may not like this but judeo-christian ethics arent that unique and the west has been pagan longer than its been christian. laws/ codes against things like stealing or killing existed in pagan and non-christian societies.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
kathleen parker wrote an article about how the repubs' use of religion (more specifically christianity, bible, yahweh) will backfire in the 21st century. in the west more people are becoming cultural/nominal christians or turning to eastern religions, spirituality, deism, pantheism, agnosticism, or atheism. the religious right in america has already repelled many irreligious or non-christian people from the party so she might be right about future trends.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I am no longer concerned with the Republican Party. I left them because they seemed to want to be Democrats lately.
There is a lot of misinformation right now about Christianity. There is a lot of bias and bigotry against them now. This, more than anything, has caused the repulsion away from Christianity.
Ironically it is Christianity that teaches all the values and principals that society claims as good.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
yes if people want to criticize religion they should be open to criticizing any and not just pick on christianity. a belief in christianity (or any other religion) is not necessary to appreciate how religion has affected art, literature, etc. you seem to believe morality depends on religion. an atheist thats kind just for the sake of being good is more admirable than the religious person that acts the same way b\c he fears a god or wants to get saved by doing so.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
as for state rights states are entitled to certain rights but states cannot do anything they want or defy national law. the founding fathers saw how the articles of confederation failed cuz it gave states too much power so they wanted a fair national way of maximizing liberty and sustaining a nation. so they ratified the constitution to establish a representative democracy to prevent direct democracy which could lead to tyranny of the majority
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
Lincoln was responsible for the weakening of states rights, not our founding fathers. On 1 hand it was necessary to free the slaves but on the other hand it gave the fed way too much power.
Did you know that in the late 1830's it was legal to shoot a Mormon in the state of Missouri? That is how much control our founders gave states.
My opinion that the most authority to govern resides with the individual and then works it way up through city, county, state and then the fed.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
"Did you know that in the late 1830's it was legal to shoot a Mormon in the state of Missouri?"
id have to see a source on that but thats a good example of the tyranny of the majority the founding fathers wanted to prevent. they didnt believe states could do whatever they want or override national law. thats why they ditched the articles of confederation in favor of the constitution. when states go against the fed govt they always lose. the gop is the party of abe
freakazoidodo 2 years ago

AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
lol people on the right and left have proposed eugenics. as for abortion most moderates and libertarians support it and a significant number of repubs do too. when the gop held power they didnt try to touch roe v wade cuz that would be political suicide. the religious right has politicized religion and goldwater, george will, etc are critical of it. the religious and neocon nuts are ruining the gop. theyve already killed it in the northeast, west coast, and now the upper midwest and outer south.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
That is because both parties are the same party. They are 2 sides of the same coin. They play the game of polorization so that they stay in power. It matters little if it is Repubs or Dems. They are one in the same.
That is why the Repubs have not fought for or recended anything their constituants want. It is not a matter of policital suicide it is a matter of control. Abortion falls perfectly in line with the eugenicists. As long as they keep that legal they can use it as a tool.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
both parties are held by corporate special interests. pro-choice means personal freedom and preventing overpopulation. reps have used abortion to get pro-life votes and now its backfiring. because of changing population and the unpopularity of the religious right and neocons the gop has already lost important former repub states (ca, nh, fl, va, pa to name some). if they try to overturn roe v wade theyd lose most american voters and not be able to use abortion to get pro-life votes anymore.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
There may be some corporations involved but it goes deeper than corporations. Right now is it the world bank, the UN and the Federal Reserve that is selling us out.
Pro-choice is the modern interpretation of eugenics as well as over-population. That myth has been around since I was a teenager. In the 70's we were supposed to be starving death by 10 years ago because of over-population.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
thats a contradiction. you said you want voters to decide things like gay marriage yet you dont think their opinion matters on abortion. when roe came out the gop platform supported it (though that changed when reagan invited the religious right into the party) and goldwater backed it. pro-lifers are inconsistent cuz why arent they against death penalty or pet shelter euthanasia? they are anti-abortion and anti-individual rights and almost all pro-lifers are religious so they base it on religion
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I'm not being contradictory. Roe v. Wade was never given to the voters to decide. It was decided by unelected men.
Support for something is NOT an election.
Also when Roe v. Wade came out it only permitted abortions in the FIRST trimester. That didn't last long before the Abortion loonies pushed it right up until it was half born.
Obama opposed legislation in Illinois that would save babies that survived an abortion after birth. These babies were born and let starve to death.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
you want voters to decide things like same sex marriage but you want roe v wade overturned although most americans want it to stay. goldwater and ford supported roe, goldwater wanted to let americans use illegal drugs legally, ford stood behind gay marriage, and they werent lib loonies.
you said rush, sean, ann play into the gop hands but they are the ones annoying most of the country and trying to purge the party and make it exclusive not inclusive.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
First off let me break apart your arguement that most Americans want legalized abortion. That depends on who is having the abortion and for what reason. You will find that the support for abortion as a contraceptive diminished into a small minority. But if you add abortion for rape, incest or danger to the mother you will find a huge number support that.
You also need to know that that middle group gets counted by the pro-life people because they don't support abortion as a contraceptive.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
study after study, including fox news and gallup and rasmussen, show most americans support roe v wade. you mentioned things like partial birth abortion to try to change the topic from roe to contraceptives in general. doesnt change the fact you contradicted your earlier argument.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
OPINION POLLS DO NOT DETERMINE LAWS OR THE CONSTITUTION IN THIS COUNTRY!!!
Do you get it! It's about law and the constitution NOT the bloody opinion of a the people, of which, you are ignoring the facts.
If the people were given the chance to vote on abortion we would NOT be having this discussion.
If Congress passed this into law instead of the Courts we would NOT be having this discussion.
If you want laws to be made by Gallup, Rassmussen, Fox or ABC then you are a fool.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
you're a fool if you don't see that you contradicted your earlier argument lol
you keep saying majority opinion doesn't matter yet you justify people keeping gay marriage or marijuana illegal through ballots that require majority vote. can't have your cake and eat it too
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
My argument was about the validity of the voting process. No elected representative of the people decided on making abortion legal. There is no national process for voting for such issues because we are a Republic.
Abortion became national law through illegal channels.
I said NOTHING about gay marriage or marijuana. Those issues are being handled by the state as abortion should be.
States have the right allow voting these issues. In Cal. the majority voted against gay marriage twice
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Notice how I said "voted" and not took a Rassmusson public opinion poll to decide about gay marriage.
I do not contradict myself I only speak of what is law and was is in the constitution.
You, on the other hand, seem to think that public opinion polls, outside of the voting process, should decide law. That is just insane.
If you had this majority that you are talking about then why did not Congress pass abortion into law? Think about that for awhile.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
if you didnt know secular and moderate repubs and libertarians were in the party way before the religious right, southerners, and neocons joined. the religious right didnt exist until the late 70s when theocrats urged reagan to listen to them. according to you that was a good thing. falwell's dead and the pioneers of that movement are aging and once the gop crashes itll allow the repubs to base their party back in the northeast and upper midwest and reinvent the party in a more sensible way
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
"illegal channels"? the same ones that decided brown vs board of education, engels, and lawrence vs texas? lol you said national opinion doesnt matter so in that case the court should reverse every decision its made and legalize all adult activities
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I also disagree with your assessment of Rush, Sean and Ann. Like I said I don't listen (or read in Ann's case) them any more.
But they are just commentators. You are giving them far more power than they have. The ones that are being exclusive are the party hacks in congress. The ones pushing the parties to either extreme.
They are both leaving out the people that just want them to follow the constitution and be honest. They are destroying this nation right before our eyes.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
i didnt give them more power. i posted the fact they, along with many in the current republican base, are intolerant of diverse views and forgetting the roots of the party. didnt you look at the 08 election map? the repubs used to be strong in the northeast, west, and midwest. its becoming a regional and not a national party. one would assume its now mostly full of rubes and bible thumpers. bloomberg and chafee left the gop and buckley jr hinted lincoln must be rolling in his grave lol
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
You're way off base. The Republican party is dominated by the progressives (the leftists). If what you said was true with would be talking about what President Huckabee was doing for the economy.
Instead we have Jackass Obama destroying our nation by killing the dollar and sending us spiraling into socialism.
This last election had McCain (progressive) leading. Followed by Romney (moderate) and then Huckabee. Us "rubes", clinging to our God and guns, didn't stand a chance.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
I agree with you on the Neo Cons because they are NOT conservatives. They are progressives masquerading as conservatives.
Not all of the religious right has politicized religion and there is a fair amount of politicization of religion on the left as well. One example is Rev Jeremiah Brown, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years.
I don't agree 100% with Goldwater but he is a far cry from a neo con.
Neo cons are not the constitutionalists like myself, they are the progressives like McCain
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
i agree the left politicizes things too. nixon and reagan won record reelection victories. you said you are of the religious right so you probably agree with rush and sean that mccain lost cuz hes center right. those men are college dropouts and not real experts. political analysts from left and right have said mccain lost b/c the gop has alienated almost every group after the religious right, neocons, and states rights dixiecrats took it over. the repubs are now a regionalized party
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
I don't listen to Sean or Rush. I used to listen to them frequently but, while I agree with their politics, I see them as part of the problem. They only point out the flaws in the left (that is like shooting fish in a barrel) while ignoring the flaws of the Republicans. They are either knowingly or unknowingly playing into the hands of the Republicrat party by helping to polarize the nation.
I believe all Americans should have a voice and not be marginalize into Religious Right, etc.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
"...states rights dixiecrats..."
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
i obviously wasnt referring to a current dixiecrat party. the post was talking about what the gop has become after the southern strategy and religious right came into play. the founding fathers wanted to prevent tyranny of the majority which is why they ratified the constitution instead of the articles of confederation and set up a republic not a direct democracy. they and goldwater would be aghast at the idea of having state referendums or laws on how adults choose to live their lives.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
Methinks you don't know what the Articles of Confederation were. Do you know what a Confederacy is? It has nothing to do with a tyranny of the majority. It is a loosly connect group of states with an extremely weak federal government.
What our founders gave us was not too different. The fed had more responsibilities, defense, general welfare (not a dole for the poor), etc. but is still supposed to be not much more than a confederation.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
you've yet to answer on whose morality should certain actions between consenting adults be banned, why the founders established a republic and not a direct democracy (as you'd like), and you've yet to make your case a decline in religiosity leads to immorality. maybe you're unable to answer lol as for abortion if you don't like it don't have one and if you want organized prayer or 10 commandments in public buildings post them and pray in your own home
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
dont tell people to stop expressing their opinions. if you get carried away with comments thats your problem. lol you said govt shouldnt prefer 1 religion over another yet you want 10 commandments in public buildings and are ok with organized prayer in public schools which are all paid for with tax dollars. majority opinion shouldnt decide individual rights. thats why the founders established a republic..to prevent tyranny of the majority. you oppose individual freedom
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
Morality is decided by the will of the people. The people decide who is most moral to represent them in congress. In states the majority votes for ballot initiatives to decide morality or vote for state and local representatives who best fulfill their morality.
That is how morality is determined in this country.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
Maybe Goldwater might have been aghast but that is exactly what our founders envisioned. Read the constitution. All power not mentioned in the constitution we assigned to the state.
The state is and does set referendums on issues however the state's constitutions are written. Some by majority rule and others by state legislative bodies.
I seriously doubt Goldwater was opposed to states rights like you say. If he was then there is something else that I disagree with him on.
AlbaGoBragh 2 years ago
heres what goldwater said about the religious right and ultra-right-wing:
Do not associate my name with anything you do. You are extremists, and you've hurt the Republican party much more than the Democrats have
I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of "conservatism"
Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise.
freakazoidodo 2 years ago
Then Goldwater turned around and said that "extremism in defense of liberty is not vice".
Goldwater also said that politics are more important than religion. Perhaps in his world, but politics change with the wind while true religion is eternal.
I'll stick with the unchanging.
