Instead of looking at the vocals as an entity of its own, instead look at it as another instrument. From this perspective, when you consider the extremity of the music, the growled vocal style is integral to the atmosphere of the song, and other "lighter" vocal styles wouldn't fit with the music being played.

As the 3 piece band they are now & with Trey Williams handling the drums for 3 years now I think Gallagher knows that Trey W. is as skilled as u have to be to play this kind of music. Actually, he adds some extra to DF. The technical level is so high in this band, that if u cant play at least 280 bpm and at the same have your own style to combine with DF Y'r out. Trey Williams is without any doubt the best drummer they've had & I really hope this formation stands. They have 12 ex-members!!
