  • "Because I never lie! Well, almost never."

    Rule #1: The Doctor lies.

  • Good Sarah, loved her so much

  • Frelling ads!

  • "That is how he would appear in human eyes."

Makes me wonder very much how he appears to the other races. I know we've seen him through Darek's.

  • I've heard UNIT mentioned since Series 1 of Doctor Who, and that was when it was in black and white. It's still being mentioned today in Series what-ever. Does anybody actually know what it is?

  • @Denarpsaurus unified intelligence task-force if I'm not mistaken , it's basically a military institute owned by the United Nations.

  • @Denarpsaurus Unified Nations Intelligence.Taskforce

  • @Denarpsaurus There was no UNIT in the first Season of Doctor Who. UNIT was introduced in Season 6 in a story called 'The Invasion'.

  • @Denarpsaurus Series 33 and counting

  • The Sainted physician?

  • Everyone note how the Sontaran makes reference to how Dr Who would appear to human eyes. How ocme no one has ever picked up on this? It's not even in wikepedia. So that means time lords only look human to humans in which case how the hell do thye look to Sontarens and other aliens?

  • @bluejeckett I'm pretty sure that Time Lords really are meant to look human. (Technically, we look Time Lord because they're older.) The Sontaran just wouldn't have been as observant of his specific features. To them all humans and Time Lords would look, as the 10th doctor put it, like pink weasels.

  • Pertwee, Liz Sladen, Sontarans and Dot Cotton too. What could be better?

  • R.I.P. Sara Jane Smith.....

  • "nasty, brutish and short, that about sums him up" Ahh Jon Pertwee there never has been and probably sadly never will a Doctor quite on the same level of awesome as him lol

  • @gusfenton1 Pertwee was too straight laced for being the Doc. To be honest when I watched the entire canon I was glad once Tom came along and refreshed things.

  • @bluejeckett well sure tom was great theres no disputing that but jon was just a different level he's just always got a special place for me though because he was the first doctor i saw

  • Ah Jon Pertwee, my favorite Doctor. Rest in peace, both you and Lis Sladen.

  • Rest In Peace Elisabeth Sladen :-(

  • they didn't have sontarans then - they had the iron monsters and maggots that jumped up and attached themselves to your neck or face - I'd love to see them again - they are part of my nightmares even today ;-)

  • For the first time in my life I'm deeply touched by the passing of a person I never met, Elisabeth Sladen. I only knew her from her lovely TV interviews, and my growing DVD collection of the "Sarah Jane" era of Classic WHO. Even here in the U.S., her passing made the major news stories.

Her 1st appearance here in Time Warrior shows why she grabbed us all by the heart and was an immediate DW star.

    Her passing hurts deeply.

    Much love Lis. Thank you.

God watch over you & family.

  • @63DW89A You are absolutely correct. The 4th Doctor and Sarah Jane were my introduction to Doctor Who. I only got to see the Doctor during the times that the local Public Broadcasting Station was doing its funds drive. Still, it captured me and I have been in love with Sarah Jane Smith for almost 40 years. Yes, she is missed by many of us on this side of the pond.

  • @bhobtoo You and I are pretty close to the same age, and likely were introduced to Dr Who on American PBS at the same time in the late 70's, during the "4th doctor", Tom Baker's era. The feeling seems to run common among us American fans, that although Tom Baker may have defined the Dr for us as no other, it was Elisabeth Sladen who took our hearts.

I was totally surprised about how deeply it affected me to hear of the passing of Elisabeth. There was "something" damned special about her.

  • RIP Elisabeth :(

  • Sarah Jane Smith: Only companion ever to CAPTURE the fucking DOCTOR!

  • "Is this Doctor a long shanked rascal with a mighty nose?" I love that description!

"Nasty brutish and short, that about sums him up."

    That's another one!

  • Dot lol

  • 'A long-shanked rascal with a mighty nose' <--- One of the better descriptions of Mr Pertwee :D

  • @NiCoDeimus lol XD

  • Never - well, hardly ever! (He is hardly ever heard to lie....)

  • Oh I LIKE Sarah Jane! I've only ever seen new-who but this makes me want to see the old series. Anybody know where I can find the full episode?

  • Try Dailymotion. It has a lot of old series episodes there.

  • @mirkeir any good dvd store....lol

  • LYNX!

  • Jon Pertwee was a great Dr. He had the most successful era in DW history with 5 excellent seasons.

Season 7 was an immediate creative upsurge for DW; seasons 8,9 & 10 were a healthy plateau, and Season 11 another creative upsurge with the arrival of Sarah Jane.

Tom Baker had 3 excellent seasons, 12,13 & 14 and then began a gradual downtrend in popularity Seasons 15-18.

Pertwee's 5 seasons were in a continual uptrend in popularity, making him the most successful Dr of all time.

  • As much as I enjoy the Doctor as an eccentric or bohemian type the more I watch of Pertwee the more I like that he played the Doctor "straight down the middle" as the actor once put it.

Sort of sci-fi James Bond with Jimi Hendrix fashion sense. I know it might all seem very Austin Powers to some folks today but I think Pertwee's take on the Doc is one of the best.

  • Agree 100%.

Started watching DW with Tom Baker and considered him the best for many years. Had the good fortune to be able to watch all available DW's from Season 1 to Season 26, plus a good many from the New Series.

Pertwee really stands out for me now. He is the top Dr followed by T.Baker and then Tennant in my view now.

He and Sarah Jane were superb together, and she really rocked Season 11 more than any companion in any other era or season.

    Pertwee/Sladen A+++++!

  • @coltperc thats exactly how i feel about Pertwee. He is classic Who. The Pertwee/Manning/Sladen/Baker years were fantastic!

  • I prefer these sonatarans - they seem more erm prominant

  • Let me guess, That bloke in the armor was a...Sontaran?

  • @darkolin

    Yup, he was a Sontaran.

  • @darkolin let me guess you only know of the new sontaran's (those wusses)

  • @darkolin I am also positive that was absolutely a Sontaran

  • @MsJessd09 it looks more like those rhino-cop things....from..the shadow proclamation i believe?

  • @ghozt419 I googled it definitely Sontaran, not Jadoon

  • @MsJessd09 i know its definitely Sontaran, but i was just making a comparison

  • @ghozt419 oh ok

  • @ghozt419 lol The Judoon are a new alien not an old one

  • @bluejeckett lol the only way i could tell it was a sontaran is that it didnt go "O-KO SOKO LOCKO LOCO KOKO COCO FOKO" xD

  • @darkolin Indeed he is a Sontaran Scientist

  • @darkolin The race's very first appearance in the programme!

  • @JamesOhGoodie and Sarah Jane's as well.

  • that was good

  • Dot Cotton as Lady Eleanor - brilliant! You couldn't make this stuff up.

  • A long shank rascal with a mighty nose?

    Nice...

  • i always imagine the tenth doctor in pertwees doctor- he seems like a younger person in his acting! 5 stars for doctor no.3!!

  • the clip wasn't long enough !i was getting into that!

  • Yep. But that's what teaser Clips do. Now if you want to find out what happens next, you'll just have to buy the DVD! MU HA HA HA HA!!! No, but seriously, you should definately consider getting The Time Warrior on DVD. I have and it's a great Story! Trust me! It's action packed and hilarious (intentionally of course, with well written witty dialogue)!

  • @topliff12345 Yeah, im going to go and watch the DVD now

  • Gah, I do love Sarah Jane!

  • everybody does...

  • No kidding :D

  • I can't wait! I missed out on childhood Doctor Who and now suddenly I get Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah-JAne all at once! Jackpot!

But I have never seen this ep, so I relly wan't to find somewhere I can buy it.

  • This is out on DVD soon, it's real boy's own stuff, a fun historical romp with Jon Pertwee and introduces the Sontarans who remain very popular and Sarah Jane Smith who is much loved as one of the best companions they ever had and has featured in the new series and has her own spinoff show coming soon :)
