@garder14 For a game with 35 characters, SSFIV is pretty balanced, but there are characters who are extremely effective but not unbeatable for example Rufus, Sagat, or Akuma. According to iplaywinner tiers Adon is actually very low in the tiers but in EVO an Adon player (Gamerbee) beat a Rufus (Justin Wong)

@garder14 it'd be kinda dumb to go to SF4 now since everyone's pretty much moved on. It's best to get SSF4 because:

all the balance tweaks

all characters unlocked from the start

most of the community has moved on to it

new ultras means new ways to play your favorite character

it's only $40, 1/3 less than your typical game

ryu turns into ken and akuma through using a super bar. Ken and Akuma are not unlockable in MVC1

Brawl is a imbalanced/random fighter and It shouldn't have the massive community that it does. Despite Brawl Melee(much better game) Is thriving 100% Brawls competitive community overshadows the entire MKII Community. If a fighting game does not survive sequels (MK4 and so on) then it is not as good as you may have first thought.

Despite SF4 being as successful as it has been. Super Turbo 2 still thrives. In fact. One of the MK community sites closed down.....what does that tell you?
