  • Carlock is a lot thinner these days.

  • great keys licks there wish he woulda took it a little farther. Keith too on the drums i woulda liked to hear somethin. no moby dick of corse.... but

  • amazing wer playin yhis in my jazz

  • Nonsense,Jogka-the entire band looks casual and cool.

  • I like they Ray Bryant Version much more, in this video everyone looks so narcisstic!

  • @Jogka

How the hell do you look narcisstic playing a warm-up tune?

  • I love it when I see bass players with ten grand worth of rig-what bs-you can get the same sound with 1/10 of that shit

  • @pretorious700

That must be why you're on the Top Ten, Winner of American Idol, etc, etc.

You play with a band? What's the band's name. When was your last gig? How much did you get paid?

    OR

    STFU!

  • Played this in jazz. Fun, kinda repetitive. Fun trombone solo for me.

  • One classy ensemble - the whole is always more than the sum of the parts! fantabulous! Thanks for the posting.

  • damn, That whole horn section just kills!

I'd likr to see any other rock guitarist comp with the style that herington does!

  • Larry Carlton?!

  • @juanda2006 how in hell is this square?!

  • ha were playing that in jazz band, its so fun on saxaphone

  • we were too

  • same

  • Ya I am too playing it on the saxophone but it is hard to play at least the way were playing it.... we're also playing Doris Day's "Sentimental Journey" which is really fun...

  • good old cornelius on sax

  • It´s an old RAY BRYANT original!!! Great, that they arranged it for the band.

  • SIMPLY "BRILLIANT!"

  • GREAT!!!!!

  • These guys are 'playin back.' The Dans: Fagen and Becker, are the absolute best. True genius--in both lyrics and music.

Love that "Be Bop Daddy's" tee that Fagen's sporting.

  • they're a kick ass band

  • That trombone guy can PLAY -- He's no Stinky Pew...

    Yayy Cornelius! RIP

    Carolyn, yummy...

THERE'S ACTUALLY A PLACE CALLED PINE KNOB?!?!

  • They didn't play this toon when I saw them and they do look a little lackadaisical. They sound f*ck!ng fantastic though.

  • This was no sound check - they always dress that way.

  • Carlospc.... A whole nother set of live clips to graze and amaze.

    You sir, are the rock.

  • Crap, look at all those empty seats in the beginning. How can this atrocity be?

  • Given the time of day and how they're dressed, this is a sound check.

  • No one can play like the Dan can.... True Musical tightness and AWESOME Arrangements..... LONG LIVE THE DAN !!!!!!

  • @doedoe1 what about Oscar Peterson? :D

  • Just a great opening warm-up.

    RIP CB...you were the man.

  • R.I.P. Cornelius.

  • Jim Pugh and Cornelius Bumpus, need I say More!

Steely Dan; Something I share in common with my 28 and 21 year old sons. Can't say that about many other groups.

  • With Fabio Capello on guitar...=D

  • Wrong glasses, sir :).

  • Comment removed

  • I like the feel............it's Waaaaaaaaaaaaay in the pocket!

We're playing this @ my school this Fall!

  • Whose the drunk guy in the black glasses that stumbled onto the piano around 5:01?

  • assuming this question is for real.... it;s Donald Fagen

  • I was completely serious.

  • hahahahaha! that be the (mu) major dude!

  • stevie dan

  • Thank you God for Steely Dan..

  • Yeah!!!!!!Keith Carlock played Jazz beat!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, it shocked me too but in hindsight, if the guy studied at North Texas he BETTER be able to swing!!!

  • Grat music :)

  • I'm still dreaming of the day when I can see them.... My job interferes with my enjoyable things in life.....

  • Not having one interferes with mine... life, huh? :P

  • Bien Chévere.

  • Great stuff, I am learning melodica to some of Steely Dan.

  • What kind of lame location was this show at? Dont the people around there know how great these guys are? Sadly, they are all probly down at the WWF match between One Eyed Jack the Baby Killer & Swampy Joe the Cajun strong man!! God help this country.

  • Keith Carlock, a class of it`s own!

  • every one of them, is a great performer...

  • Does anyone know the full lineup for this show please? Thanks!

  • Band: Donald Fagan - Keys, Vocals Walter Becker - Guitar, Vocals John Herrington- Guitar Keith Carlock - Drums Tom Barney - Bass Ted Baker- Piano Cornelius Bumpus - Sax Walt Weiskopf - Sax Michael Leonhart - Trumpet Jim Pugh - Trombone Carolyn Leonhart - Vocals Cindy Mizell - Vocals Cynthia Calhoun - Vocals
  • Awesome. Thanks very much

  • @carlospc Keith Carlock plays the drums, not guitar.

  • @000SMITH000 thats what it says...keith carlock-DRUMS!!!!

  • Looked like the soundcheck...but no..it appears to be the real thang!

  • Looks like Don has had a spliff or two.

  • yeah don looks pretty gassed but then genius dosnt follow standard protocols eh?

  • That is SO awesome.... Great intro...

  • Whoa! Great solos by Jim Pugh and Cornelius Bumpus.

  • Cool. I finally see Walt Weiskopf and Cornelius Bumpus, before Corny died.

  • Fagan looks pretty Loose :)

  • hahaha

  • I love this intro! Steely Dan doing Latin Jazz...doesn't get any better ;-D

  • Thanks for posting all these clips carlospc. Been a fan of Steely Dan for ages...but I never knew Mikey Teutle played piano for them.

  • The intro from their Heavy Rollers Tour 2007 (I saw them in Brussels) is pure jazz! Very nice. That's the moment that you're sure they are all pure jazz musicians, and that's why the Dan has such a high quality.

  • In 2006 they did "Turtle Talk" as the opener. What was the 2007 opener?

  • Their opener was 'Jeri', the closer was 'Carolyn'. I don't know who composed this tunes: I found a jazz tune called 'Jeri', but I'm not sure if it is the tune they played. 'Jeri' is kind of bigband-like jazz, 'Carolyn' is a kind of shuffle.

  • please let us know that you are NOT Steely Dan .... It was enjoyable 4 sure but it wasn't the DAN !!! peace,

  • This is the Dan, it's their orchestra. I saw this tour and everyone since then and the band always warms up the crowd before Becker and Fagen walk on.

  • Fan fricken-tastic ! ...... I really really am enjoying it and thanks a lot - I didn't mean to sound ungrateful whatsoever....the sound is perfect and my neighborhood got an ear full let me tell you - lol

    Rock and Roll !
