@RTard48JRod ya i have a very similar situation. Hey if you have a gamestore near you see if they host DnD Encounters. Or go to the DnD website and do a search in your area for stores that have it. You go into the store, sit down with a group, and play an encounter or two. Every Wednesday. Really FUN!!!!!!!!!!

The closest DnD Encounters game is about 4 hours away..Desert dwelling might be nice when the tsunamis git, but entertainment and diversity of people suck.. Dnd on the weekends, maybe dagorhir( or some form of it)...BUT YEAH, i wouldn't drive four hours to play Encounters..or would i....

If you're making a video called "How to play D&D", I think your goal should be to give enough information that the audience will be able to play D&D after watching your videos. Instead, this guy is giving the most basic once-over possible, without describing enough to even give you a taste for the game. It's like making a video on "How to be a chemist" by explaining that there are chemicals and they interact strangely.

@paintballr27 ookay.. well it all depends on the version u play I guess, but I play ODnD. In that you have "THACO" to-hit-armor-class-0. lets say you have 10 strengh, so u get no modifier. you will need a 20 to hit something with a 0 armor class. lets say your fighting a goblin in cloth. his armor class is 10, because he has weak armor. now instead of rolling a 20 (to hit 0) you need a 10+ (to hit 10).

it probably seems a bit confusing at first... but you just have to read into it lol ^^

You have modifiers that increase the value of your roll. Let's say, for example, that you're attacking someone with a melee weapon. You add your strength modifier and any other bonuses you may have to your roll. So if you have a really high strength (+5 bonus) with weapon focus (another +1 bonus) with your base attack bonus (+3 for a third level fighter), you'd have a total modifier of +9. So if you were attack a creature with 21 AC, you'd only need to roll a 12 to hit.

i thought in 2nd edition you want to roll a lower number to hit but i dont know i might be wrong

No, you'll want to roll a higher number too. There you have the TAC0 (would be the atack value), wich is a high number at first lvls (20, 19, 18..) and the AC wich is a low number(5,4 .. -1..), and gets even lower as you get some lvls. To hit, it's like TAC0 minus D20 value.. The result must be even or lower the AC. I know i didn't had to explain, but it's 1:23 AM and i'm bored =]

u can get these books at any gaming store or you could use torrents to download them. u'll probly only need the players handbook if ur not the dm. besides books and dice there isnt really anything else you need
