  • Brian Tribble's lack of action makes me think hes not a true friend of Bias and was more worried about getting in trouble with drugs and less worried about his friends life.

  • brian fucking tribble...without his gay ass, len would still be here today.

  • @PinoyAko3495 You might be right.

  • Bias did make his own choice and is responsible for his own actions. I assume Brian Tribble at the time had only drug dealing as his occupation and knew nothing else. All around, it was a sad situation. I just hope today Tribble is free from drugs and can pass on to others what he did when he was young to prevent others from following the same path.

  • Fuck brian tribble

  • Len Bias' ghost should haunt the operator forever.

  • I don't trust any of those former teammate.......they all seem to have a dark side to them

  • Still people use drugs . . .

  • damn the 911 operator had a dumb ass attitude!

  • one thing i don't like about this doc....the filmmaker paints a SYMPATHETIC portrait of Brian Tribble, never once mentioning his 1990 arrest and 1993 sentencing for drug dealing in Washington DC (police described him as a 'significant' dealer among dealers), years after his involvement with Bias's death. Interviewees bring up the fact that Bias was killed by an unusually pure coke sample, yet the filmmaker never tries to show where that sample came from....gee, i wonder

  • @bordaz1

Well said. This guy was not innocent. He was a drug dealing thug who clung like a barnacle or parasite to a rising star. No excuse for Len's dumb behavior either. With that said, it is a shame that drug thugs like Tribble even exist.

  • @bordaz1 Gimme a break. They all did the same coke. And Bias was using BEFORE Tribble. Tribble did what a lot of brothas in DC did back in those days ... he slang dope. So fuckin what. Not saying the guy is a saint but he didn't make Bias do anything he didn't want to

  • Brian Tribble is a fucking prick.

  • Rip Len Bias its messed up it went down like that he looked like a really good player that would have been really successful in the NBA.

  • i'm so sick and tired of people talking about len if you didn;t know him shut the fuck up , he wasn't evil he was great as a person and a friend i went high school with him and just think about this if you just acheive your dreams would you drink you can die from that or would you just sit in th house rememger preer presure is a motha fucker but when its your time to go its your time to go

  • @jimy1966 I know that was your friend and all, but it wasn't his time to go, I wish people stop saying that. He had the CHOICE to either do or die,I'm NOT saying that he wanted to die, but... he played russian roulette with his life. And I'm also NOT saying he isn't a bad person, bye watching the documentary I can tell that he was a very well liked person. IMO I believe he would've been one of the greatest, this man was talented and handsome (btw) !! :)

  • do u think if he would have lived the boston celtics would have won a championship in the 90's?

  • fuck triible bithch he ruined everything bias should of been hanging out with his family

  • One of the biggest wastes of talent in sports history. He was a great player, but he was a brainless, evil piece of sh**. If he either had any brains, or had any decency, he would have never touched illegal drugs, and would likely still be alive

  • Bias was banging 7 grams rocks.

  • i swear the greatest people ALWAYS die.. :( thats so sad.. but you know one stupid thing can ruin your life! he made the decision and choice to do that.. R.I.P Len Bias /:

  • @duhhfuckk06 The only thing great about bias was his baskeball skill. As a person, you was worthless scum. He had no f***Ing brains, and was evil (he was a criminal, ergo, he was evil). Great is never an applicable term to describe a person's character if they're a criminal

  • @gamelvr1 no he wasent

  • Comment removed

  • That 9-11 operator is a douche.

  • What's sad with many of these 30 for 30 stories is the amount of talent someone has and how they wasted it. Look at Len Bias, Marcus Dupree, Ricky Williams, etc.

  • the beginning of the end of the maryland basketball program, len bias was a fantastic college basketball player who would have been a star in the nba. It owuld have made recruiting for maryland easier now if len bias had lived and succeeded in the nba

  • @firstbas3man16 He wasn't the end of it... They won a title in 2002 I think

  • just putting it out there but that 911 operator could've been a fucking pissed off Lakers fan

  • Brian Tribble must have got tons of support following this tragedy. I wouldn't wish this on anybody. Props to Brian for getting through that awful time and I'm sure he still deals with it today. Lots of love to Brian Tribble and Len Bias

  • And for these fools even hinting that Bias could have been a bust, are you all blind? You people couldn't possibly have seen this young man in action to make such stupid and unresearched comments. Unreal. We have a term for your type(s)...haters. As if you all have never made foolish decisions as children and young adults. Half of you all are probably on drugs now. Let this young man rest in eternal peace and may the legacy of Len Bias live forever...

  • Unbelievable how some people are responding to this video. The ignorance of some of these comments is baffling my mind. You can easily see how some people grew up in "melting pot" cities such as where Bias was from while others grew up in the Midwest or upper Northwest on farms and in trailers where people were immune to the effects of Reganomics. Yes Lenny Bias snorted coke, I get that, but who are we to point at a decision this 21 year old man made during a time when cocaine use was rampant?

  • Nice Brian, you were so coked out you could barley talk on the phone to 911. I could barley understand what you said and I was reading it. Thanks for taking away a future star Brian Tribble. You knew better than to involve yourself in coke as Len was heading to the NBA Boston Celtics. Way to go dude....loser.

  • @wssidaho ...whoa, whoa, whoa.....don't blame Brian, Len made the decision to do this himself. It sucks that Len died, he was one of the greatest players I've EVER seen play basketball. I'd never blame Brian Tribble for killing Len Bias though....Len killed Len, period.

  • @yenrabjb Yeah, but Brian supplied the Cocaine from which Len Bias died from..

  • @Darthbane1999 That doesn't make him responsible. The piece of sh** made the choice to do drugs. He died because of his own stupidity

  • @gamelvr1 why is he a piece of shit because he choose to do drugs? do you even hear yourself. you have allowed yourself to become manipulated by the anti drug policy into calling even a casual cocaine user a piece of shit. i no way did he deserve death very few people deserve death. do you consider all cigarette smokers pieces of shit how about all obese people? cause obesity and cigarettes kill a lot more people a year than cocaine

  • @fatrapperinyou I never said that he deserved death. I wouldn't have wished that on him or anyone. Even for the worst criminals, I against the death penalty. What I was saying that his death on himself. I have no pity for druggies who die because they OD. While cigarettes do cause more deaths, the amount of deaths comparison wise would likely be more even if both were legal or illegal. As for obesity, unlike cigarettes, or drugs, that isn't a choice a person makes

  • @fatrapperinyou I don't mindlessly believe the media as you seem to think I do. I take all things into account. Anyone who has EVER done illegal drugs are evil scum. They always should be thrown in jail where they belong for at least a few years. No criminal ever deserves to escape unpunished. Bias had so much talent, but the man was a brainless criminal. If he had one shred of decency (no decent person would break the law) or any brains, he would have NEVER touched any form of illegal drugs

  • @gamelvr1 people have the right to do drug they are not hurting anybody and it is there choice u didnt even answer my question about smokers and obesity. really a few years for trying coke? what about weed do you really think someone who smokes weed could go to jail? and if you dont listen to the media and came upon this decision by your self i want to know why you think he is scum for doing drugs besidesjust because its against the law. please be more accepting of people

  • @fatrapperinyou Smokers, aren't bad people, but they are just as dumb as illegal drug users. As for obesity. I already covered that. Unlike, smoking and drug use, that's an health problem, something that's not a choice. Biologically certain people are prone to it. Yes, any and all illegal drug users are worthless pieces of sh**. If they smoke weed, they should go to jail. The point is, the right, and intelligent thing to do is to follow the law. Only brainless imbeciles ever break the law.

  • @gamelvr1 You must be a fat out of shape lard ass piece of internet trash talking shit. A health problem. You're a health problem, you make me want to vomit all over your mother's saggy tits. Check this shit out bruh bruh, Laws were created by MEN, any law that isn't Gd's law that is. I feel that anyone who blindly follows the instructions of others without first deciding on his/her own is a cowardly, dickriding, slave. You sir, are a fucking slave, and you will be my slave in the afterlife.

  • @fatrapperinyou They are making the conscious decision to break the law, also endangering their lives, and the lives of people around them because they do things that would never do while not under the influence. Yes, all illegal drug users should always be incarcerated for their crimes for a few years. Get those evil pieces of sh** off the street. Hopefully get it through their heads that the right and intelligent thing to do is be a law abiding citizen.

  • @gamelvr1 you sound like one of those motherfuckers I aspire to murder one day. You must be a snitch ass, pig loving, faggot ass, suck up to the teacher, betray your best friend to the police after you get caught ass, fatherless, get your asshole opened up by a crossdressing skinhead in prison type ass ... forget it. Fuck the "law". They didn't hurt nobody, he hurt himself. His parents raised a good kid, good people make mistakes. Bad people make excuses. You want to impose your will on people

  • @Donkeyhawk The fact you aspire to murder people show's that you are an evil psychopath. No good person could ever aspire to do an evil act. Absolutely zero of the things you listed in the huge run on sentence apply to me. I'm heterosexual, so that knocks out most of the crap you posted stemming from your obvious homophobic attitude. I wouldn't have a run in the law because I actually am a law abiding citizen. If my best friend committed a crime, he deserves to pay for it, ALL criminals do.

  • @gamelvr1 I will no longer bless you with my writ. If you would like to discuss this in 3-D like gentlemen, gentlemen with weapons, by all means it can be arranged. Good day sir. Why don't you go watch Pokemon you fucking twerp. Lard ass Private Pyle motherfucker. You are a criminal, because one day there will be laws passed to prevent you from voicing your polluted opinion in a public venue, you are trying to create confusion, which will leaqd to your destruction eventually, or the twinkies.

  • @Donkeyhawk Also, by saying "they didn't hurt nobody," you just said they did hurt people you imbecile. It's called a double negative. His parents DIDN'T raise a good kid. If they had done that job, Bias wouldn't have died that night. The man was an evil piece of sh**. ALL criminals are.

  • @gamelvr1 I should make a law come into being. You're a lousy attempt at being a troll, regardless of you succeeding in getting a response from me. There will be a law passed soon, death penalty to all fat faggot lard ass do-gooder sissy govt dick sucking punks like you who live life like cowards. You would be a coward on the battlefield, a poor leader, because you cannot think on your own, you rely upon "laws" made by equally corrupt individuals like yourself to help guide you, sheep.

  • @gamelvr1 i agree with you, and im no homophobe ;)

  • @gamelvr1 you, boy, are a self-righteous POS troll. haha

  • @fatrapperinyou He is scum because he was by definition a criminal. ALL criminals are evil scum.

  • I know 911 operators have a stressful job, especially during the high crime era of the 80s, but that operator sounded like a prick.

  • @overstatedbrilliance Not only a prick, but totally incompetent. Someone tells you a guy isn't breathing, and you want to make sure you've gotten the caller's last name correct? Dumb. In this day and age, they would be all over that guy.

  • Len Bias = biggest bust ever

  • @YouGotJEWD ....RETARDED comment, Bias was ANYTHING but a bust. Len died, he wasn't a bust....sheez

  • @yenrabjb Bias was a bust. If he died in an accident, through no fault of his own, then yes it wouldn't be a bust. The scum (all criminals are scum) chose to do illegal drugs. The retard died because of his actions just 2 days after the draft. He threw his life away. Yeah he was a bust

  • Im surprised this dude didnt commit suicide. The amount of guilt would just be so immense..

  • Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter

  • uhh yah if you knew the true story of y len bias was the no. 2 pick is because red auerbach was the guy that everyone looked to for advice on drafting players he knew his talent. and when his celts got the no. 2 pick he talked up daugherty because the other team would pick him when really all along bias was his guy

  • does any one else notice how extremely unhelpful the 911 operator was?

  • @hustleeArt he wasnt helpful? brian was mumbling around giving him zero useful information. what the hell was the 911 guy supposed to do?

  • @KCRyder dude fuck u and fuck those cops the operator was not helpful at all.. "What are you talking about? what are you talking aboit/?" fuck ur life man

  • @hustleeArt well - a truly qualified reply I´d say. You have easily earned the "most fucks of the day - award" excuse me now mate but i dont have to time to deal with infatile idiots like you

  • @hustleeArt I don't think the operator knew who Len Bias was and was confused that Tribble was bringing up the name.

  • @hustleeArt Well Brian was on Drugs..

  • @hustleeArt typical 911 operator. Acting like he is doing someone a favor by doing their job. Very short and rude, not very reassuring, didn't try to take command of the situation on the phone. Typical cocksucker on govt payroll. Ever been to the DMV, Clerk of Courts, pulled over by a cop, been to court? I fucking loathe government worldwide. And the people working with or who are compliant with these govts are worthless as well.

  • @hustleeArt From a fireman's point of view who has spent time answering 911 calls as part of my training, I solely disagree with your observation of the call taker being "unhelpful". There are certain questions that need to be asked by the call taker, and I understand that Brian Tribble was obviously upset, but the communications center needed not to know who the person was. The operator only needed to know WHAT WAS ACTUALLY THE PROBLEM.

  • @hustleeArt The information given to the call taker helps determine what kind of units need to be sent on a specific type of call. In this case it is was what we call a "Medic Local." In PG County, MD, a basic ambulance, and MICU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) and/or an engine company is dispatched to ensure the patient receives the highest level of pre-hospital care. Had Tribble would have been any more uncooperative, the call would have probably only received just a basic ambulance....

  • @hustleeArt ...thus delaying the response of a MICU, which was apparently needed for this particular type of call. Information given is vital in helping you, me, or anyone else for that matter get the highest level of emergency medical services appropriate for that type of call.

  • @hustleeArt ya I'm thinking he thought it was just some stoned out guy calling up there making false reports, but ya he was being stupid, its the 1980s folks!

  • i cried when this aired

  • @williamthethird Touched most of the NBA. I mean crack appeals to skinny people. Where do find skinny people the NBA.

  • The thing that bothers me about all the Bias talk. Is people fail to mention that he was the number 2 pick after Brad Daugherty. I mean many believe Daugherty failed to live up to promise not saying that would have happened to Bias. Just mentioning frequently ommitted fact. Also all the Jordan comparisons are fueled by the fact they both played in the ACC. I wonder if playing at Maryland after Len Bias is what turned Tony Massenberg into a journeyman.

  • @24Reference Kevin Durant was the number 2 pick as well, and he is on his way to becoming a legend in the sport.

  • @24Reference What? Daugherty didn't fail to live up to promise. The dude averaged 19 and 10 for his career. He was an All-star 5 times in an 8 year career. The only disappointment for Daugherty was his back injury problems.

  • Go to your address bar, type "Gift" before YOUTUBE, then press enter

  • I live in PG County, and my I asked my dad "Was Len Bias really that good?" He looked at me and said "Yes, oh yes. I loved watching him play. He would have been Jordan before Jordan was Jordan."

  • @stephengerondakis how would he of been jordan before jordan...mj just finished dropping 63 for the all time playoff record right before bias was drafted and during bias rookie year mj would of been averaging 37ppg 6rpg 5.5 apg...who knows what bias would of been he could of been great or a bust but what we do know is that at that point jordan had already arrived as a legit nba superstar

  • If the Boston Celtics has been able to have Len Bias on the court their dynasty in the 80's might have been extended. He died in 1986 which was the last title they won before 2008. That really messed up the Celtics franchise,Larry Bird got old and there was no one there to pick up where he left off.

  • @dvharris75 Would Bias have played shooting guard on the Celtics?

  • The Good die Young Mostly over Bullsh**

  • Someone said this and its true. Michael Jordan only had two real competition. Father time and Len Bias. That would have been a battle between those two

  • ..I also hold Tribble responsible and had wished ill will on him. It still bothers me til this day. Of course LB is truly responsible for his own actions and we all know the ending but somehow...some way...this stuff had to get introduced to him on campus. The death of his brother, years later brought everything to the forefront again. It's been extremely hard for the mother to lose both kids to drugs and gun violence....

  • i'm sorry...I know there are a lot of people that say LB was this and that....all I know is that the years he was in school at UMD...you could see at the school's Basketball photos, the years he was happy....except for his senior year. That team photo show Lenny in what looked like his worst year ever...the look on his face was not a look of seriousness but of just plain loss of reality. I went there despite my father's wishes and I can tell you, the school still feels the effect. RIP LB!

  • RIP LB

    Edan Aharony

  • Tribble is a crook and I personally wish this would have happened to him instead of Len. Bias would've been the best ever and thanks to this lier he's gone and I never got to see him play.

  • This is such a sad and terrible story...RIP Len Bias

  • i feel no sympathy for drug users. He died because of his choices

  • @nignogProduction Maybe so. But it's sad that no one was able to step in and help him before it got to the point of no return. This was a young life cut way too short.

  • I wonder how many death threats Tribble got after this happened. I didn't have a problem with the operator. When you call 911 you can't beat around the bush, you need to be firm and to the point. I believe the campus medics got there pretty quickly. But with cardiac arrest even if you administer CPR right after it happens the chances of the person surviving (as we saw with Michael Jackson) are very slim.

  • @scoobdoggydogg I feel sorry for Tribble...that's a heavy weight to carry. I just hope he reaches out to God, and does something worthwhile with his life...like counseling kids against doing drugs in school.

  • Can will kill the 911 operator?

  • the 911 operator sounded like an asshole

  • Things went down hill for the Celtics. Years later Reggie Lewis would die causing another blow to the Celtics.

  • Where can you see the rest of this?

  • @ChillFella61 ESPN classic or you can download it (illegally) through a torrent site. It's definitely worth checking out, along with many other 30 for 30 documentaries.

  • this tribble guy has no shame?

  • @grandfinale19 what woul dhe have shame for? doing coke woo big deal. It was unfortuante that len passed away but nobody needs to feel shame or responsible. college kids do drugs its what they do

  • @fatrapperinyou It's not what college kids do. It's only what the brainless scum do. I do agree that tribble wasn't at fault. Doing coke is a big deal. Anyone and everyone who does it are evil (because by doing an illegal drug, they're a criminal), brainless pieces of sh

  • @gamelvr1 you are obviously a very ignorant person. do you know what evil means? if you experiment with a drug while in college that in no way makes you evil at all. also do you know what scum means? that like heroine addicts that steal from their family or the Americans and Europeans that raped Africa and south America into poverty and pollution that is an example of scum. stop judging people, and stop thinking things because other peeople ( the media) tell you to

  • @fatrapperinyou There are different levels of scum, the things you mentioned were worse, doesn't make sh** such as Bias any less of a piece of scum. Regardless of whether you're "experimenting" or not, the moment a person does illegal drugs, they are a criminal. ALL criminals are evil pieces of sh**. Also, by the time they're in college, they ARE adults. They are fully responsible for their actions. No leniency that comes with being a minor. They know better, but they still do brainless sh**.

  • Len Bias deserves no sympathy at all. He was a cokehead - as Tribble himself confirmed - and foolishly wasted a golden opportunity to play in the NBA. I'm tired of people whining about "what might have been". If Bias had lived, he would have been out of the league within a matter of years, just like the other junkies drafted in the 1986 Draft, like Chris Washburn and William Bedford. Bias was an ignorant and undisciplined junkie who thought he was invincible. He was proven wrong.

  • @Archangel101576 if you're tired of people talking about what might have been with Len, then why are you watching this video about someone you feel no sympathy for. Shut the fuck up and keep your opinions to yourself. Most of the NBA was doing coke then and most people didn't know how harmful it really was. They were ignorant and people make mistakes. Give the dude a break. Who the hell are you to say he doesn't deserve sympathy, are you the morality police?

  • @cibobary8766 No, I'm actually educated, that's all. People have known about the dangers of cocaine use since the early 1900s. Second, not everyone in the NBA was using coke and people were indeed aware of the dangers of abuse. Third, the last time I checked, this was America, so I'll express my opinions whenever I please. Fourth, there's no such thing as the "morality police". Rather than refute my contention with logic, you resort to cheap vulgarities and personal insults. Typical.

  • @Archangel101576 First off, of course there's no such thing as the morality police. Secondly I never once insulted you, I told you to shut the fuck up but that's not an insult. I was justified in questioning why you're watching a video about Len Bias if you're sick of everyone talking about what he could have been. Third, the majority of the NBA was using cocaine during the 80's. I never said everyone, I said the majority. You're educated, you know the difference right? Way to be condescending

  • @Archangel101576 Sorry I was wrong in saying that the majority of the NBA was using cocaine in the eighties. Buck Williams estimated it to be about 20 to 30 percent of the league but still many people didn't realize how harmful coke was. When Bias overdosed it reminded everyone of the perils of "recreational drug use". But seriously if you don't feel sympathy for Bias and you're tired of people whining about what could have been, why are you watching this video? It's a reasonable question

  • @Archangel101576 Len wasn't a coke head either. The Celtics illegally drug tested him before they drafted him, as did many other teams who were looking at Len as a prospect. Dribble and other friends said that Len did coke before but it was only a very small part of his life, no one said they saw a drug problem in Len. he snorted pure cocaine, or as close as you can come to pure cocaine and it was too much for him. TO EVERYONE, WATCH 'WITHOUT BIAS' FOR THE FULL STORY, IT'S AN AMAZING STORY.

  • @cibobary8766 Nope you are dead fucking wrong and Archangel101576 is right on teh money.

I went to University of Maryland the same years that Lenny went there...in fact, I lived at Ellicot Hall and he would come by every so often and I knew him as a casual friend.

During the early 1980's, drugs were prevlent at U of M -- just a fact. I remember seeing Scott Tye (Football) go from a little kid, to a monster (steriods).

  • @marktheshark2010 In fact, I remember Lefty Driesell saying that cocaine could enhance a players performance. That interview was quickly snubbed.

Bottomline is that Len Bias was probably the greatest basketball player of all time, who we will never know how his potential would have played out. I watched plenty of practices at Cole Field House and he dominated.

If he was going through college today there may have been a chance with regular drug testing -- but no dening, he was a coke head.

  • @marktheshark2010 I remember watching the evening news and seeing a couple of the other players (basketball and football) being interviewed. They tried to sugar coat Len Bias as a great athlete that had this one off experience. It couldn't be farther from the truth.

  • @marktheshark2010 This one event had a profound effect on University of Maryland sports programs. After all who would want their kid to go there. In addition, it tarnished the educational reputation of the school.

Lastly, I think we need to take a step back and reflect...be real and call it for what it was.

Lastly, if I was Brian Tribble, I think I would be dedicating my life to keeping kids and student athletes off drugs. That's a very heavy burden to have on one's conscience.

    Peace Len.

  • @marktheshark2010 If I may ask, how was Len Bias?

  • @Darthbane1999 A bigger, stronger, more physical Michael Jordan.

  • @TheShnag Michael Jordan was the 911 operator. that's why he played 20 questions.

  • @TheShnag SHittin me! MJ is the greatest!

  • @marktheshark2010 how am i dead fucking wrong? i said he had done coke occasionally before the od. something you can't prove wrong unless you partied with len regularly. I also stated that the Celtics illegally drug tested him before the draft and he was clean. That is true because it came from Celtics management. So how was I dead fucking wrong?

  • @cibobary8766 Yeah well...YOU"RE DEAD FUCKING WRONG! First of all, I grew up in Hyattsville, MD. That's a rough neighborhood to put it lightly. I have seen drugs there and drugs at U of MD. Moreover, I knew Lenny as a casual friend. I said he was a cokehead...you said he did coke occasionally. That's the same thing dumbass. ITS ILLEGAL....IT WILL GET YOU THROWN IN JAIL OR IN THE STATE PEN....AND SOMETIMES YOU CAN DIE FROM IT.

  • @marktheshark2010 you obviously weren't that close to cocaine use if you think there isn't a differenc between recreational use and addcition. Cokeheads steal, lie, and decieve to get high. Do you think everyone who drinks is an alcoholic? And you still haven't proven how I am dead fucking wrong, you've just made the accusation twice and haven't supported your claims with facts.

  • @Archangel101576 u sound sooooo foolish iif u were listenin u would have heard dat he never used b4 in reason y he probably had that reaction 2 dumb ass kno ur facts b4 u speak!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That 911 operator didn't sound too concerned about the call. Very sad story. Was at a restaurant that was showing the 1984 ACC Championship game on ESPN Classics. Bias would have been a great star....

  • I had a friend die cuz of cocaine but no one cares cuz he wasnt a great ball player

  • @trkddy That's not true. If you are of a certain age and raised in a particular part of town anywhere in the United States you are real familiar with how Crack Cocaine destroyed the Black Community. I feel sorry for kids under 30 years of age. There is NO WAY they could know just how COMPARATIVELY SAFE the overwhelming majority of what are known as ghettos prior to 1985.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, if we take nothing away from these situations then their deaths are absolutely in vain.

  • hi everyone

  • Len Bias was the greatest talent I ever saw. He was better than Michael Jordan.

  • @vaughnjb damn straight

  • why Brian Tribble didn`t die instead of Lenny

  • @premedog because he was probably smarter...

  • @premedog because if Tribble had died no one would be talking about this right now. Len Bias' life was meant to serve as an example and a cautionary tale

  • @THOUSANDAlRE len had free will,he could hav e said no.For him to loose his life only to serve caution to mothers was unfair to Lenny. How many have died due to overdose since Lenny how many use cocaine since Len.Have the use of cocaine declined since 1986

  • this changed the course of basketball history and of so many careers... he could've prolonged bird's career, been the only real challenger to jordan, etc.

  • Yeah;Len Bias was a real buzzkill dying like that...what a bunch of losers he hung out with....

  • maybe teachers should show this in class. this would teach kids that drugs are bad

  • If Len Bias was still alive he probably might have taken the early and late 1990 celtics to the playoffs and maybe even won a championship...

  • Wow do we like to rewrite history. Brian Tribble was Lens friend they used coke together. he is not responsible for Lens bad decision. I have seen friends use drugs when i was a teen, if they died i would not want that to be my defining moment. That was Lens fault . He was great on the court, best college player i ever saw, but he fucked up no other excuse.

  • I think some people forget while he was on the phone he was still in cloud 9 from coke..

  • thats some good coke! who's your dealer?

  • lol just when i was gunnna do coke tmro..not nemore

  • in the 911 call tribble , he sounds like he did not want him to live?

  • what dont be an idoit, he sounds like a shocked, scared 19-20 year old kid! dont be a fool man!

  • that guy tribble is a waste of space and should still be in jail just for being such a piece of $hit.

  • are u freaking stupid look up how many points jordan had and how many bias had when they played

  • First round draft pick...So sad.

  • damn....what a shame....

  • Maybe it's just me, but I still hear some defiance in Tribble's voice.

  • Had Bias lived (and throw in the other disclaimers - grown up and ditched the drugs, not blown out a knee, etc...), Jordan never leaves basketball to play baseball. Bias and the Celtics certainly would have siphoned off a couple of MJ's 6 titles. I saw Bias on TV. Yeah, he was THAT good.

  • I believe that.

  • Jordan only left because his father died...had MJ's father not passed away? Chicago wins 8 in a row...91,92,93-----96,97,98

Houston won 2 in a row between 94,95 and The Bulls teams would of beat "Clutch City" hands down.

  • I agree with that.

  • i know i wasn't born during his draft pick and from what i've seen he seems amazing.. but i simply can't accept another person being better than michael jordan i can't look at him as anything less then the best

  • The best thing about 30 for 30 is remembering all the good stories that may have been forgotten.. i wanst alive when this tragety happened to Len Bias. From what i heard and saw. It looked like The Celtics would have given the Bulls a run for there money durin the Michael Jordan dynasty. It would have been intersting.

    R.I.P. Len Bias

  • your 100% right...the jimmy the greek one the other night was pretty sad also

  • The Bulls never really were a match for the healthy Bird/McHale/Parish Celts....When they died off thats when Chicago dominated the East! Bias may have put less pressure on the 3 and may have given them more rest, we'll never know.

  • Actually the Pistons took over when the Celtics got old. Once the Pistons aged then the Bulls took over.

  • @hwkwrestler24 Agreed, but although I wasn't alive during the tragedy of Len Bias, as an NBA historian, I sought the knowledge of books. But rest assured, everyone watching this video should not make drugs a social norm nor use them for merely the "curiosity" of the unknown and I hope you all can learn a lesson from this tragedy.

  • I was born after this happened to Len, but growing up in Washington D.C. and playing basketball I knew all about him. I can honestly say, Len Bias saved my life. I have multiple friends who are now either drug addicts or have passed from ODing. I grew up a huge University of Maryland fan and after being told this story from such an early age it made me never want to touch the stuff. Life is worth so much more than getting caught up in that world. R.I.P. Mr. Bias, i'll see u play one day up there

  • @joed06a : Bruh you don't know the half of it. I was born and raised in the 202 and remember that day like yesterday. I was in fifth grade and can tell you, with a straight face that the city still hasn't recovered from losing him. Mike Wilbon said it best, people mark time as before and after Len Bias death and I am one of them. Istill believe with all of my heart that had he lived, we would not talk about Michael Jordan as we do today. He would have been to MJ what the Joker is to Batman.

  • We really cannot ascertain if Mr. Bias would have been great on the next level due to his casual drug use...how many other players drafted in subsequent years shared this same recreation and failed to live up to their billing because of it? I think Roy Tarpley first and foremost...how about Chris Washburn? Yes, he was going to a great team and all, but in the 80's? Cocaine paradise for the for the young and wealthy. I would like to think that his use would stop, but that will remain a question.

  • I am 46 and I was 1 year older than Len. I saw Len play. I can say this- He had as much talent as MJ. The only thing he had that MJ didn't at that stage was a perfectly legitimate jumpshot. If you remember, MJ had no jumpshot- He had to develop one during his first few years in the league (and he did). Len already had one. I hate to say this, but his death set back the Celtics for years. More importantly, his death woke up alot of people. It might have even saved some people's lives.

  • Never heard of this guy before today and this documentary made me cry a little. It is incredibly sad how, like Kirk Fraser said, 1 mistake can destroy or take your life. I'm not a huge NBA fan but I would've liked to see this man do well with the Celtics. That's the worst possible age to die, mid teens to early/mid 20's. Your life is about to unfold, your dreams and goals are within reach. Your parents are about to see what you will become, then bam. Gone, never coming back.

    Thank you Kirk..

  • You are ignorant fool!

  • dont pretend like you understand me
