alexandre desplat has the exceptional to bring the footage he works with to the next level....He creates an atmosphere, an emotion whereby one starts to see what the director of the movie could not accomplish with images....
I felt Fitzgerald's story was entertaining, but withouth the music .... the film would not have given me the same thrill ...
TIMELINE: 1918 Benjamin is born at age 86 // 1923 Daisy is born // 1925 Benjamin goes to Church and gets up from his wheelchair and begins walking unaided, Benjamin 79, Daisy 2 // 1930 Benjamin walks with only one cane and meets Daisy for the first time, Benjamin 74, Daisy 7 // 1935 Benjamin leaves his mother's house and heads off to sea, Benjamin 69, Daisy age 12 // 1941 Benjamin has relationship with married woman in Russia, Benjamin 63, Daisy 18
1945 Benjamin returns home after World War II, Benjamin 59, Daisy 22 // 1947 Benjamin meets with his father one last time and the latter passes away, Benjamin 57, Daisy 24 // 1951 Benjamin surprises Daisy at New York where she has fallen in love with another man, Benjamin 53, Daisy 28 // 1957 Benjamin visits Daisy at the hospital after she broke her leg in a car accident, Benjamin 47, Daisy 34 // 1962 Daisy meets Benjamin at his mothers home and they make passionate love, Benjamin 42, Daisy 39
1963-1964 Benjamin and Daisy are about equal in physical age and at some point move in together, about 40-41 // 1968 Benjamin's and Daisy's daughter Caroline is born, Benjamin 36, Daisy 45 // 1969 Benjamin leaves his family because he continues to grow younger, Benjamin 35, Daisy 46, Caroline 1 // 1980 Benjamin returns and meets with middle-age Daisy at the dance studio, Benjamin 24, Daisy 57, Caroline 12
1991 Daisy gets a call from social workers and meets the teenage Benjamin, Benjamin 13, Daisy 68, Caroline 23 // 1999 lying in a bed Daisy teaches Benjamin how to read, Benjamin 5, Daisy 76, Caroline 31 // 2001 Daisy is walking with a cane and gives Benjamin a kiss, Benjamin 3, Daisy 78, Caroline 33 // 2003 Benjamin dies as a baby in Daisy's arms, Benjamin 1, Daisy 80, Caroline 35 // 2005 Daisy dies as an old woman in a hospital in New Orleans, Daisy 82, Caroline 37
ohhh ok i admit i also cried, but only twice! ;( (especially at the very end when you see every other person from his life in the speech, i compeltely lost it then, things like that always get to me, life-oversights etc, the feeling of it being lost in time.)
well my friend.....the ending of both films( button and slumdog) are soo touching and full of magic, slumdog is fairy tale that make you believe that you can do anything just with faith and love and benjamin button is (like slumdog) a depressing movie with and optimistic message.....this movie really make you aprecciate life and all his moments and downfalls LOVE IT!!
yeah me too ^^ ... it is really unfair to think that way, because slumdog millionaire deserves it aswell but this evening i was so disappointed that alexandre desplat didn't win the oscar, just the same for brad pitt and foremost DAVID FINCHER ... nevertheless a perfect film
favorite song in the movie!

The only movie that ever made me shed a tear was this one. Still one of my favourites to date and I don't think any romance-drama will ever beat it!

this is my favorite piece from the film.
evokes the main emotion of the movie.
i thought it shouldn't have been used at the scene in the movie. should have been used in another scene.
