It was a very inteligent fight for Corrales. He took the oportunity that the fight brought to him. Popó has changed his style for this bout, so Corrales just wait until the time Freitas got tired by presure him all night, then in the 8th and 9th round ended this fight up. Great victory for Corrales.

Popó did so much for boxing. In Brasil if you wanna be a boxer you have no support ( like in USA ), an Freitas make his way and was a world champion ( wbo e wba ). And for this fight, popó had some problems. He changed his way to fight, he was dancing in the ring but this is not his way to fight, he was always a brawler, and he ended his marriage with his wife before the fight. If it had a rematch months later, i would bet on Freitas .

@flyinghotwing I understand what you're trying to say but Kostya Tszyu was 36yr old while Hatton was just 26yr old and the at the top of his career, DLH was also 36yr old and clearly not the same fighter he once was, while the 29yr old Pac was in his prime(still is). Freitas on the other hand was 29yr old and at the top of his career fighting another fighter at his prime; Corrales. I think this fight doesn't show how bad Acelino Freitas was(cause he wasn't) but show how great Corrales was.

i cannot argue with anything you say here, i agree, in fact in my book all of these fighters deserve much respect from true boxing fans....tszyu had many superb years as a jr. welter, hatton was great for a short span, ala mike tyson in the little mode ( ok not quite as great but), DLH although he was played up by the media to be even greater than he actually was, had a great career and indeed was a very fine boxer, pac is still amazingly rising, corrales was Great and Popo was decent2

Though with DLH I think he could of had a much better career resume if he would have made some changes like went after tito instead of running around the ring, or tried a bit harder in the 2nd mosley fight. Both fights in which i had him the winner. He should of fought trinidad again or a 3rd fight with mosley, though mosley is the one that declined for the 3rd fight. But what can you do but live and learn, I'm sure DLH wishes he could back too.
