  • i love you joe!!!!!! gonna play a tribute show for you tonigh!!!!!!! you changed my fuckin life!!!

  • The Clash forever!

  • in 2000 and 11..I hope I go to heaven..I been too long on the dole..now I can't work at all...why is no-one saying these things now????

STILL fucking rocks my world. God bless the Clash.

  • @jaytv777 you damm right!!!

  • 3 people obviously dont have a fucking clue about music...

  • can you believe that they are just guys they seem so much more than that

  • The underlying message holds an historic depth charge, for those with ears to hear, for those who know what were done in Sydney in 1984 & 1985.

  • To all those cunts that say the clash weren't punk because they formed to make money, they were in debt to their label CBS until the release of combat rock because they let people without tickets into their concerts through back doors and sell double albums for the price of singles, they didn't form to make money, they formed to make changes

  • No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones in 1977...certainly no Elvis!

  • One of the great fallacies I hear perpetrated all the time is that because someone makes it big they have sold out. Making it and selling out are not NECESSARILY identical. The Clash pretty much maintained their values and society shifted towards them thus making them popular and bringing them much due recognition and money.

  • For about 9 months our silly haircuts, safety pins, dog collars, home made clothes and fuck you granma attitude had the straights convinced the end of the world had come. After that all the band wagon jumpers with their shop bought clothes fucked it all up and I for one stopped dressing up. The Clash were great blokes as was Lydon Sensible Vanian October Harper (old git lol). It was a blast from autumn 76 until summer 77 and the Clash at the rainbow was as close anarchy as we got.

  • I just fuckin' love these guys... I listened Clash first time when I was like 4 years old. It's about twenty years ago, and still loving this.

  • The Sex Pistols weren't real punk, I'll grant you that. But The Clash had true ideals, hence songs like Complete Control. Not to mention punk bands like The Damned and Wire that existed simultaneously without getting famous. Do your homework guys, there are no safe blanket statements about that particular era.

  • @DJMeowMixer How exactly weren´t The Sex Pistols punk?

  • @intenzez Punk, as perceived today, is a rejection of corporate values and selling out. And The Sex Pistols had a period when I would consider them punk, through the recording of Never Mind the Bollocks. But by the time Sid Vicious was on board, they were total puppets of Malcolm McLaren, and Vicious himself was a talentless poser who couldn't play the instrument he was assigned to. After they broke up, Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) was the only one to notably redeem himself with the band PiL.

  • @DJMeowMixer your kinda on the right track man but punk is about being rebellious, different and rejecting and disregarding social norms an stuff. bands like the clash an the ramones were punk cause nobody did what they did. nowadays everyone is playing what is called "punk" music, so it really isnt punk at all

  • one of the best songs period

  • Fucking late 2000s and 2010s music :(

  • they're not insulting the beatles, this song imagines a world without Elvis, Beatles or Rolling Stones

  • What a fuckin track.. Need i say more?

  • My head loses control listening to this, nodding like crazy, great song!

  • Unfortunately no Clash in 2011!

  • i love the clash and i love the beatles but are they insulting the beatles or are they pissed that there gone. it sounds like an insult but i wanna be sure

  • @CountCane1994 he's not really insulting them so much as saying it's time to move on. It's a bit of an apocalyptic song 77 had some sort of significance to rastas think they were expecting something to happen - and in fact Elvis did die in 77!

  • @CountCane1994 the first two bands that got joe strummer into rock'n'roll was the beatles and rolling stones i think that answers your question in fact the first rock song he heard was not fade away by the rolling stones

  • bloody brilliant!!!!

  • 77 was cool but 82 was thee shitt!!

  • Buahhh!!! Me encantan!!!

  • No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones in 2011 !

  • I love the Clash! Particularly 1977 and London Calling - partly because The mention The Beatles, one of my favourite bands EVER! Besides the Clash of course

  • The beginning sounds like the kinks 'all day and all of the night' beginning but rougher and punkier and simpler

  • this song is true for today, in recession bit, conservative crushed britain...

  • I LOVE THE MUSIC OF THE CLASH ! YEAH

  • Can i ask y everyone is talking about lady gaga???

  • Sorry i honestly belive that Elvis ias just an over-rated teen idol. Chuck Berry created Rock.

  • i just relized a learned this song on the bass guitar 9 years ago. ah good times

  • the best punk band of all time. These kids who listen to blink 182 will never understand

  • @b4con94 THANK YOU for saying that. I thought I was alone on that.

  • @b4con94 the clash are one of my favourite bands,i love the clash, i also love blink 182s older albums before travis barker joined the band. not all blink 182 fans are kids who know nothing about music

  • @b4con94 Anyone who says The Clash were the best punk band of all time might as well listen to blink 182, or steal some records and listen to some x ray spex and eight bucks experiment.

  • @b4con94 i think Blink 182 knows their place. I dont think they in any way strive to be at Clash status. you have to give credit to Blink 182 for kicking off a new style of music for many (crappy) bands to follow. That said, I in no way am trying to say Blink 182 rivals The Clash's musical talent and ingenuity. The Clash was a band of the gods. when the gods went through their punk phase.

  • @balloonpoop yes man!!!

  • @b4con94 I listen to blink 182, but they're not Punk. The Clash are the best!

  • @b4con94 apples and oranges...

  • @b4con94 Not cool man, not cool.

I think Blink 182 is a great band and best punk band is Joy Division.

    no offense lol.

  • @b4con94 whats so wrong with listening and liking them both?

  • always was, and always shall be the only band that matters

  • @bmxpunk11 yep you got that right

  • @szczepannn123 YOU DON'T KNOW NOTHIG ABOUT MUSIC GO TO LISTEN LADY GAGA

  • @ale999999 haha, so enlightened response :)

  • @ale999999 dont make me laugh you cunt lady gaga for fucks sake she is a waste of space

  • @pussypop100 you don'tn understad that I don't like lady gaga, I'm the owner of the clash video watch my channel if you want. cheers my friend

  • @ale999999 lol

  • @ale999999 owner of the video? no one owns this but the remaining members of the band.

  • @excommunication1 forget about it!

  • @pussypop100 nitbwit

  • @ale999999 Hope thats a joke

  • @szczepannn123 dumbass

  • @szczepannn123 How were they made for making money?

  • @szczepannn123 Your fucking trash bro

  • That song is the perfect example of why The Clash were such an important band, in fact, the only band that matters!

  • punk was born dead

  • @szczepannn123 fucking idiot it was born alive and working but its dead now

  • It might of been 1977, but it didnr stop them ripping off Kinks riffs! 1965!!!!

  • @shelleys9I fuck the kinks

  • @bobdylan4evr this song started as a tribute to the kinks you do know that right?

  • @RamonesFreak566 dont give a shit still think the kinks are lame

  • Kinks Rocks!

  • @shelleys9I That's why the KINKS played in the first place...to inspire people...Ray Davies never claimed royalties over this song. Even Strummer (a Stalinist punk) cites the Kinks and the Yardbirds among his influence. Jones only liked Mott and NYDolls and Placido Domingo...and Paver-roti...and Mrs Mills too !

  • @PoireauMan68 jones was a big kinks fan he was a fan club member as a kid he `borrows` a bit of waterloo sunset on `i`m not down

  • @1960unclemort I love thee "" ...Mick was all about borrowing at one time...I like his approach to 'can I poach your juicy riff, mister Richards ?'

I suppose that's wot made it healthy in the first place...That's why PUNK was such a buzz...recycling ideas at the speed of light...not too irreverent sometimes if Jones get inspired by...The Kinks...bless him...and them.

  • This brings back memories of 1977, in my late teens. Crazy times.

  • Talking crap about the stones and elvis was the point thats what makes it punk they didnt give a damn. Besides elvis and the stones suck. PUNX NOT DEAD!!!!

  • @rubeboyclash210 punks been dead a long time

  • @bobdylan4evr punk isnt dead i dont know why people keep saying that PUNK magazine recently reformed in the early 2000s and is still going the dictators are touring and theres tons of unknown punk bands you just dont look deep enough

  • The Clash are and always will be the only rock and roll band that mattered.

  • @davidstrut

The Clash are and always will be the only band that mattered.*

    fixed

  • They're posers, just in it for the mulah

  • Yeah the clash loved yoghurt lol

  • They did like very comercial "fast food" bands that they thought the music was all kiss me now i love you and not about world issues and all abit manurfactured. Thats how i understand it.

  • because it was a new music scene, and it was there way of clearing out the past,...but really all the band, especialy Mick loved the Stones and the rest of the 60's stuff

  • Does anyone remember them playing rafters manchester ( they played the apollo the same night)?

  • Does anyone remember them playing rafters manchester ( they played the apollo the same night)?

  • Does anyone remember the clash playing the last nght of rafters manchester ( they played the apollo the same night)?

  • Does anyone remember the night the clash played the last night at rafters in manchester ( they played the apollo the same night)?

  • Lets hope there's no more pop, hip hop and RnB by 2011.

  • The lyric isn't "Sod the Jubilee", it's "Silver Jubilee" - the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizibeth II ascending to the throne.

  • Sod the Jubilee was referring to thier contempt for it.

  • @CrimsonPhantom88 its "sod the jubilee" not silver.

  • so true.

    the only band that matters...

  • "heinz 57"

  • What's more, even though I put London Calling on the top 10 list of best albums ever made, Joe, & I love him, don't get me wrong no matter what I say, sounds like he needs new dentures. I am as sorry as you are that he died so young. The #1 Album in history, for me: Never Mind the Bollocks. #2: Let It Bleed. 3rd is Revolver, and 4th is Aftermath. 5th is PIL's 1st album, and 6th is their 2nd. But what do you care, I don't know anything about music. What an inarticulate little wuss you are.

  • Look Ale - My 1st big concert was the Stones @ Hollywood Bowl Summer of '66. If you think I don't know anything about music, think again. If just ONE of the pathetic Clash were dancing around like constipated fruits in this video, that might be OK, but they're all doing the same thing, which means it's choreographed! Which, when it comes to PUNK, is a death sentence. I've seen more great bands than you will in your next ten lifetimes, wuss, so don't bother to comment on what I know about music.

  • The Clash worked on their poses, as did Sid, Rotten, and Steve Jones (although he stole his moves straight off Johnny Thunders).... so if that's not punk, well what does it matter?

  • Secondwind - I suppose that is the case. I started out a few months back poking fun at the Clash, but I don't do so anymore, because I know how much they mean to so many people.

  • How coincidental that Elvis died in 1977

No elvis beatles or the rolling stones

  • Great tribute

  • the clash will always matter!..i miss joe strummer still...rip

  • the clash still the only band that matters!!!

  • i found them in 77, i was 12 yrs old...

  • you silly cunt ya obviously know nothing about the punk movement. wanker

  • Mullery - You dumb jack-off. I may know nothing about the punk movement, but I know more than you do. & what is it with you British? Such a lovely homeland, such great literature, you've given so much to the rest of the world (I won't mention how much you've looted! LOL, just ask India, Egypt, and Greece, and Africa in the present day), you have so many BEAUTIFUL women, yet you always revert to masturbation? Well, wank yourself to death, bubblehead. Of course, you'll be doing that anyway... Hah!

  • wtf was that. that had nothing to do with what i just said. "revert to masturbation"....relevance????? silly cunt.

  • Mullery you pathetic twit - "wanker" recalls jacking off, dummox. You British are so used to it you don't even know when someone in the US calls you on it. The whole world knows about you young English: your young males sit in circles and stick their cold, wet, sticky hands up each others shorts, and meanwhile act like they're soooo intellectually superior. Try doing that stateside and your pink little fingers will be broken off.

  • HAHAHA you fucking dumb twat! 'stateside' - you embarrasding little cunt, come to london and have your fuckin face cut open. and dont ever speak like that again, as your obviously recreating your filthy little fantasies you dirty nonse bastard. i'd love to see a child molester like you try lasting a week in wormwood scrubs...fuckin cowardly paedo. most likely the next john wayne gacy, loser.

  • @alanmullery well put old chap!! American cunts, fucking bunch od twats they are! lol

  • I'm so bored with U.S.A. but what can we do?

  • Just make the best of each day. :)

  • @dawncrk23 oh and another thing, u fuckers celebrate thanks giving right? What u celebrating there, isnt it supposed to be giving thanks to the NATIVE indians who were there who taught you how to hunt there as u were all dying off cos u couldnt hunt or look after urselfs. lol then u killed them and took their land. Very civilised indeed, lets be honest, best part of you dribbled down ur mums legs!!

  • I agree that the british have probably one of the worst pasts ever we were very naughty, but we never tried to celebrate that fact, now there is where the irony lies, you took the indians land killed the mojority of them but then every year you thank them for that opportunity. The difference between Uk and USA is that The american people just took the land for greed, where we tried to civilise alot of the places, taught them how to build houses and so forth.

  • yeah good point. We actully know what we did was wrong, but we dont go around celebrating it.

  • @semilental stfu tried to civilise them. that is so unbelievabley rascist i cant even begin to describe it

  • ok i think i was a little drunk when i wrote this comment civilise maybe isnt the right word, although even though you find that racist all you have to do is look at alot of tribes in Africa wit htheir clitoris castration or maybe take a look at India and the dowry i think its called where the people were killing their second daughter because they couldnt afford them the british people never did stuff like that so maybe they did need some civilising and in the past us brits too were uncivilised

  • And that shit still goes on today, im not stupid either we did it for greed of land but we werent all that bad, So before u rudely call me a racist look at the facts you moron.

  • yea dog fuck the UK

  • @dawncrk23 fuck me we may have had a dark past but lets be honest the good old U S of A is quickly taking over us, i mean you still had segrigation in the 60 mate, we didnt, and lets be onest we all know what the fight against terrorism is, thats right that black stuff we all need so much to drive our cars. America is just as bad if not worse, cos by now we should all know better! Ill go back to masterbating now dipshit!!

  • the pistols only cared about their income theres a reason why they didnt last as long as the clash and the pistols wrote like barely any music compared to the clash

  • The Pistols broke up because of these 4 words, Malcolm McLaren, Sid Vicious

Malcolm wanted more money fast, Sid broke the dynamic. /case closed

  • joe miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great vid. Mick Jones was a Faces & Mott The Hoople groupie...not that there's anything wrong with that.

  • except that he didn't sleep w/ them?

    might wanna reword that sentence.

  • There's a literal reference & there is a figurative one. You choose which...

  • nice

  • punk rock

  • Shake your fists at the banksters and get angry...it's what Joe would have wanted.

  • Elvis...dead, the Beatles....done, and the Stones were fossils by that time. Looking back, it was quite refreshing to see the old myth of rock hierarchy finally it it's well deserved grave

  • AMEN TO THAT

  • the clash, the best!!!

  • jaja hugee

  • "No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones in 1977!!"

    Big.

  • EPIC

  • @Isayehoh and wot do we have? Elvis sightings filling up his cadillac Eldorado at a BP station...MacCartney stating the Beatles would've reformed for a cause (if death/killing hadn;t struck) and The Rolling Stoning, the grandads of Wock'n'walls still touring after all these years...They'll still go long after their hip replacements and various visits to swiss clinics. Jagger = bionic man + run marathons and entertain the maids singing lullabies...We've been cheated...a little honesty don't 'urt.

  • @PoireauMan68 There's no 'a' in McCartney. I don't know why people think that there is - even a music book at my SCHOOL thinks there is an 'a.' And I thought writers for schools were meant to be smart...

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • fukin great b side 1 min 50 sec, this is when the clash were raw and great, along the same lines as the pistols with wanna be me and the stranglers with 5 mins, all great b sides..

  • MY EVER FAVOURITE BAND!!!!!!Joe was the best!!!!!
