Use etho's wall method to get at their feet.

@xisumavoid Yeah, I mean build a wall so that their heads are covered and dig yourself down one block space to hit their feet. If you attack at their heads, the skellies will shoot and the creepers will explode.

You don't need to break glowstone on top of chests in order to open them, since glowstone now acts like glass!

It is a good Idea to setup an exp farm where there are 3 skele spawners in the Tenous Crystals or something like that... I did and I got 33 exp levels just letting them build up after an hour...

I just made a "gravity" harvester below the skelly spawner in the dungeon. I haven't yet been able to contrive a tolerably efficient exp farm without iron and redstone.

also tunneling in a hostile area can be helpful to help out to plain out how to clear out a room if you can find more sand try to make as much glass as you can to make your tunnels.

it well also be a good idea to carry enough blocks to encase your self if your health is running low to give you time so it can regenerate. I would block off areas that your not going to explore so you don't have to worry about an hostile sneaking up behind ya.
