Speak those things that are not as though they were!!! U have the ability to become the most visible, knowledgeable, spokes person on the subject of natural hair care globally! This is the day I've fallen in love with your videos. I usually deter from youtube pages with 100+ vids because I am overwhelmed & feel I need to catch up. As my natural hair is growing I want to take care of it the best to my ability. So in search for knowledge on here I remembered you. Now Im taking the time 2 look. :)
I love that you talk about discipline, I think that more than anything, that's one of the things that people in general tend to ignore when it comes to any of these things. My hair grew long and continues to do so because I am disciplined in caring for it. It's my pet peeve to find that people will say "oh, you're just lucky" when really, it's thanks to hard work! Like anything else in life, self discipline and proper effort is totally important, so thanks for highlighting that!
I've been looking for something like this Kimmaytube -- Thank God for you. I wish all sisters could go natural and realize their true natural hair potential. We can be sexy, loved, and accepted by society more as naturals. Your voice is helping say to women and men everywhere that it's okay to celebrate the KINK AND THE CURLY-- love it!!
@JessicaBales88 Yep.. I have tried everything to obtain hair growth.. My hair loss was affecting me a lot emotionally and physically. My social life was horrible and I would stay home all day. I thought I was something genetic and I would fall into depressions. A friend of mine also had a hair loss problem and I remember telling about the site HairLoss101. net(remove space). After using it, I was stunned by the results.. This hair growth treatment really works..
Definitely not trying to be a kiss-up, but you really may be the modern Madam CJ Walker. My personal goal is to document the history & development of the black hair revolutions from early 1900s w/ Madam CJ Walker (& several other black women) & the natural black hair movement during these last few years (even the 70s). Hello Kimmay.. I am so overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions that I would like to experience to you.. I try to grab at least one thought, emotion, or idea so that I may write to you and share my profound appreciation for the creation of your existence.. Let alone what you have presented to the African American community and other cultures with kinky textured hair.. I am astonish by your presentations and will simply say this for now.. Ok, you've made me a believer. I'm going to dedicate this year to really learning my hair. I'm ordering the books you've mentioned in the 2nd Hair Growth video. Thanks!!

I'm 14 and I went "natural" in june.. I get my hair twisted while its wet every 2 to 3 weeks. But what did you do between those 2 months and also are you mixed with anything that might aid how fast your hair grows?

Kim, Your vids are awesome. I learn so much. I've been natural since 2000 but I've mostly worn braids and sew-ins. Thx. I've learned so much from your vids. I haven't watched them all yet, so i have a question that you may have addressed. How do you reduce or stop the tiny knots that form on the ends. I'm want lenght but i won't get if i have to trim knots all the time Thx again.

Kimmay, do you have any advice for someone who just did the big chop? I've only been 5 months natural and am currently wearing a TWA. i've been using your leave in and I really love it. However, it seems that my hair isn't growing as much as it should. I cannot really do any protective styles other than wearing a wig, which I really don't want to do. Do you have any suggestions?
You are AMAZING! I am thankful for your journey because it is making my journey a little bit easier and seeing you makes me know that healthy, long, natural hair can be a reality- THANK YOU! <3
@GodsGenuineGift She took down the video (or perhaps set it to Private). But, if you go to her page, she has the recipe and the instructions on the right side of her page on how to make the Leave-In. I hope I've helped.
Kimmay, I am so glad I found your channel! I have 3 daughters and my oldest is trying to grow her hair back to it's normal length before relaxers. She has some long spots and some very short ones (due to pulling her hair out in frustration). We are getting counseling for the frustration, now we are working on growing her hair naturally. I never knew about the importance of ph balance in regards to hair, but I will apply your techniques, and hopefully we have some success! Thank you!!
You are so very helpful to me! You have absolutely no idea! I have one question. I noticed that you posted in the video that you have not used a blow dryer on your hair for quite some time. When you wash, do you just twist and air dry? I am running into problems with scheduling the best time to wash my hair because of the drying. I don't want to use heat if I can avoid it. Thanks.
When going from perm to natural hair, is it best to cut the perm off completely and start from scratch orr cut the perm off as it grows? Also, what hair products do you use or recommend?
you are really an inspiration... we (young black females including myself) need people to look up to when it comes to something as simple as hair all the way to being disciplined throughout life... i really like you... you are a very good person you have a very positive spirit... you are blessed and im praying for God to send you more blessings.. you deserve it :)
This video showed just in time I have been wearing my hair natural for years and am so unhappy with it because of the shrinkage, dryness and no shine. I wash my hair weekly and condition it well but my current hair products is not working. Please share your personal product secrets with me for the leave condition and anything else. I really do not want to go back to pressing again.
Your hair has grown sooooo much. After seeing this I am kind of disappointed in my hair growth, I take very good care of my hair and it has not grown anywhere near the length yours has. :( Best of luck, cant wait for your product line to come out
@xxDcarlaxxD kimmaytubes hair is 4a 4b if you check out sera2544 she has also grown her hair super long using the same tecniques... she is 4b....4c doesnt really exist but if it did i would say that sera2544 is 4b mostly 4c... sera is also nigerien... i think it depends on how you take care of your hair. hair texture doesnt dictate how much easier or how much faster it is to grow your hair... that is y kim makes videos! to prove african american women can grow hair w/ proper care.
@xxDcarlaxxD ...Hi, my hair is very course, or kinky, nappy, whichever you choose. What I experienced is that the longer your hair grows the looser my curl pattern became. My hair is not brastrap length. I lightly straighten maybe once or twice per year.
Hi. Ive watched ALL of your vids. I have yet come across one detailing your regimen. Is that something that you could put together (PLEASE) for your loyal viewers?
ie washing/ deep conditioning frequency? how often you keep a style? etc.
Thank you. Any information is greatly appreciated.
My hair used to be just like that when i was younger (before i started relaxing) this is inspiration for me to chop my relaxed hair off and GO NATURAL!
Kim do you feel that wearing styles that keep your hair in a stretched mode cut down on shrinkage when worn in a style that is not stretched like a braid out or a wash and go?
How long does your leave in conditioner last in your hair before you wash your hair for the week? Does your hair retain moisture for the whole week or does it get dry mid week?
You go girl, your hair is getting longer! I have been watching you and other ladies on YouTube for awhile now. I wanted information on how to take better care of my relaxed hair (now relax twice a year) and to grow longer/healthier hair. But I wanted to see some type of form of hair care "visually" being done, not just reading a bunch of information. That is when I discovered my inspiring sisters like you on YouTube, thank you! Keep up the good work! I wish you the best in your hair journey.
I just discovered your channel, I have been natural since 1997 as well, but I do not know what to do. My hair is always dry (and I do wash my hair once or twice a week) and it never gets longer than to my chin, if that. So I want to get sisterlocks and I am wondering if your methods work on locked hair as well. My only concern is being able to wash product out so it does not get trapped in the lock. Thanks again for the info you post.
i watch your videos and it has inspired me to finally start my natural hair journey im now 85% natural, since i have still relaxed hair in front but still i hope to get long, pretty, healthy hair like yours ^^
Hello, I'm a new subscriber to your channel and LOVE IT! Thank you for your wealth of knowledge to not just natural hair care but...hair care in general. You are helping so many women and I personally thank you! I'm relaxed bsl and I'm "kind of" thinking of going natural but not at the moment. I have a question, I've been looking to incorporate another home made product to my regimine and its the "Leave In" you've shared. Do you think this will work well on relaxed hair? Thanks & God Bless! *~*
Does anyone know what her hair type is? Has she mentioned it in any of her previous videos? I just subbed today so I need time to go through all of them. Thanks.
okay seriously....you must be heaven set......Ive always been told that I have really nice thick natural hair but I always cover it up with weaves! I just always tell my friends, stop wishing they had my hair because whats the sense of having long natural hair if it does not show!My hair is noo way closeto your length...and I definitely would like to get it back there......it got dry and it stopped growing....I just need help...please! where do i begin???Whats my first step?? Help!
I'm extremely glad I've found your page, I consider you a guru. I'm trying out you leave-in recipe this saturday and hoping for the best. I believe in you research and information because of your result. Also I've be non-chemically treated since Oct 2009. I'm loving the textured I see regrowing though it is hard to manage but I like the idea of how to wash and when I should be washing it. My protective styles are mostly weaves and wigs with braids underneath hopefully I'll accomplish retainment.
I am not seeing Part 4: Tips for starting & promoting your own Youtube channel?? Please forgive me maybe I am overlooking it or maybe point me in the right direction to find it? Thanks
Kimmay I need help! I am newly natural and am transitioning without the BC. Many videos talk about post BC care or texlax care. I am 5 months natural and have about 2 inches of newgrowth + relaxed ends. I would like to transition as long as possible but want to be sure I am taking special care of my new natural hair as well as well as dealing with my relaxed hair w/o all the blow drying/flat iron. What is your view on braids as a protective style? I'm worried about added stress to my roots.
@MsLita1 Hey there! Here's my friendly advice to transitioning which I believe is the toughest part. I braided my hair all the time, but with MY OWN hair, I didn't add extensions or anything. I would simply wash them, braid them and once dry unbraid them. Separate the curly strands a lil u'll get a wavy look. I did just about anything with my hair that way. And I wore this style for about 3 months until I had my BC,I couldn't take it anymore I just wanted my naps lol. Hope this helps good luck!
What is your hair type? I'm trying to find what works for me, but I think my hair is more kinky than yours and I usually don't notice growth/length until I blow dry it out....
Hey Kim, I'm a new natural 5 weeks since my big chop. and I've had a signifcant amount of growth. I'm started to struggle with a daily regimen. I've always shampooed my hair so I'm wondering what you recommend as a shampoo and how much moisture is "enough'? Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for doing this video! Prior to going natural, my hair was maybe an inch or two below my shoulders. I bc'd three years ago, and my hair is now almost at my bra strap. I never really "tried" to grow my hair because I figured it had reached its maximum length, but after watching this, I am inspired!
Kim, I just want to say that I am so happy that I bought the goody hair pins from your web site. Thay are so strong and yet gentle on the hair. I am going to recommend it to everyone I know.
I'm natural and will be straightening my hair in a week or two and I'm looking for a brush that will not damage (cause split ends) my hair...do you know what type of brush naturals or non-naturals should use?
I'm natural and will be straightening my hair in a week or two and I'm looking for a brush that will not damage my hair...do you know what type of brush naturals or non-naturals should use?
My hair is relaxed and I am so terrified of cutting it off. I've recently learnt about heat training my new growth so that it becomes more manageable and which will allow me to eventually eliminate relaxers. My question is, would you recommend using your leave in treatment on relaxed hair? I know I would have to use it sparingly so that it doesn't make my hair heavy.
@TheIslanddawta - My hair is relaxed and I use this leave in - I LOVE IT - It has revolutionized my hair!!! Every1 notices how much softer and shinier it is :) Try it! However after seeing Kim and other curly naturals - I miss my curls! My hair is just like Kim's - curly when wet and well conditioned and I don't think I'll be relaxing again.
I love this comment cause I can tell you have been paying attention. :o) Back when I used a blow dryer a few times on my hair, it was on my bangs only. I would wet my bangs, two strand twist & blow dry them for a quick wavy textured set.
Yes, blow dryers can be considered direct heat if it comes in close contact with the hair & the temperature is not on the cool setting. But I'm really referring to flat irons & pressing combs.
Thanks for the quick response:) I thought that's what you meant. Sorry to seem so detail oriented, I'm just waiting for the contest to began at 3EST. Not sure what you may ask and so therefore I have been watching the videos again throughout this week so that I read and pay attention to everything. As you say, PLEASE READ before asking your questions!
I agree 100% that youtube is the future of natural hair because all that I've learn about natural hair was found on youtube. I first saw you on rusticbeauty page featuring the spring fashion show and I wished I searched your page then... because now I would not have 100 plus videos to catch up with...lol I am learning a lot from you along with the other sistahs. Thank you :)
Specifically, I soley agree (5:28) that "YouTube is the future of natural hair care." Love this video. & your channel :) Very Informative, thank you for your encouraging words. Most of us have faith that you will reach that personal goal.
About Ph balance...I see where your recipe worked for several people. How did you find out what works best for hair? How much did diet and exercise have to do with your ph balance? Your videos are inspiring me to go natural...again...:-) Since being in the corporate world, I have been afraid to go natural for fear of losing my job(actually worked at a place where in the dress code it request for hair to be worn in "European styles".) They have since removed this but I GOT the message.
You got the 4 bbb, Black Bold and Beauitful. You will suffer much procecution, but no weapons formed against you shall prosper. You are a very powerfull women with lots of useful knowledge, many will hate you because of this
Wow you are a very powerfull person with alot to offer the world, and will be attack because of this but no weapon form against you shall prosper. Jealous will come ur way, and many different device to discourage you, but hold strong my sister the higher you crimb on the latter the greater the prosecution. You will be in my prayer, you have the 4 b. Bold Black and Beauitful.
I"m currently transitioning right now. I would love to have hair that long that is natural since i've had hair that was down to my armpits relaxed. I'm 6 months into my transitioning journey and i'm really excited. You are a inspiration!
Hi Kim! I am one of your young viewers (17), and I found benefit in ALL of your vids. Completely insightful/inspirational. I got the "BC" on August 13th of this year (2010...I keep a written hair log of my progress), and have had tremendous hair growth even though it has only been 2mths. My regimen is still not quite up to par, but from watching your vids and being educated on hair care, I am sure that soon will change. (Hopefully, then, I will see even better results in my hair journey/growth)
I just have to say that your hair is absolutely gorgeous ! I've been on my hair journey for abotu 4 months now and now and then I need inspiration and you're it !
So happy I can finally comment on your videos. After watching your videos, I am able to tweek the things you do in-order to suit my own needs. Also, those who were skeptical about my hairstyle/lifestyle change, are now making the transition, as well as watching your videos. It is so good to have a role model out there like yourself. Thanks for all you do, and keep up the great work!!!
Kimmay, I appreciate you so much. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Your dedication and hard work have not only helped you, but so many others. You are honest and transparent in your videos and the information you provide is priceless to those who are searching for answers for their natural hair.....To answer those who criticize you: Money is a reward for solving problems. You are providing solutions and getting your reward!
You and RusticBeauty have been a revelation to me. I co-washed and used a shea butter/coconut oil/aloe gel/glycerine combo on my hair for the first time yesterday, then braided it. I took out the braids this morning and almost cried. My hair was absolutely beautiful--shiny, soft, and bouncy! Thank you so much!
the hair i thought i had all these yeas, and it's lack of growth was really just lack of moisture and conditioning. Wow, what a revelation! I have learned so much about hair growth and maintenance in these last couple of months it's truly amazing. I'm kinder and gentler with my hair, i praise and nurture my hair and i truly believe that i will attain the long natural hair i have always desired. Thanks, so much Kimmay and all natural hair bloggers.
I absolutely love you! when I first ran across your channel I thought this was crazy and I could never go natural but your story has inspired me! thank you so much for all your videos and advice and for sharing your progress with me! thank you for teaching me so much and I am proud 2 say that I am a happy all natural girl now :) Thank you so much and keep posting vids!
OMG....like i wanna cry because your hair is so beautiful and i'm dumbfounded that most of your growth really occurred in the last 18 months. Unbelievable!
I love your videos especially these hair growth journey time lines. I'm not sure why people are so negative maybe a reflection of their own personal insecurities because I think your videos are really informative. I have been natural for a long time and even though I've used some products I haven't stuck with a regime like I should but I just wanted to say these vids are inspiring.
Yes you are global as I am a Brooklyn girl living in Paris. I truly believe you will have your own show one day. You are a renaissance woman! I won't ask any questions about hair as you have said that you don't have much time but in fact, all the answers are on your videos already. My hair is natural but I have not taken care of it very well. It is only in the last week that I have discovered the youtube videos and I am now well on my way. Thank you for being so divine.
I sooooo LUV your channel! You know why? Because you are one of the few natural hair tubers to whom I can relate with the hair texture! I know that everyones hair is different, but I can still relate with your curl pattern. And I LUV the way you explain everything in detail! I so needed someone who knew what they where talking about. Thanks for the leave in conditioner recipe. A year ago I never thought I would ever go natural. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with wanting LONG NATURAL HAIR.
Hey, ive just turned 17 and live in england. it just goes to show how you can inspire anyone one of any age in any corner of the world. thank you, you have really taught me to embrace my race and all the things that come with it. im definitely going to go back natural after this as me and my mom now know how to really care for our hair type. thanks again and good luck with achieving your goal!
my sista i have 3 words to say to you fab u lous. i watched your series on your hair growth and how i just wouldn't grow well that's me. I mean my hair has grown but i feel like it should of be longer then what it is now. i saw your videos on ph balance and that was it for me. i never knew that ph was important to our hair. i have been natural since last summer when my daughter cut my hair off girl i was crying because at that moment i felt so free from my hair with the creamy crack
Where can I fine the recipe for the leave in conditioner.

This video showed just in time I have been wearing my hair natural for years and am so unhappy with it because of the shrinkage, dryness and no shine. I wash my hair weekly and condition it well but my current hair products is not working. Please share your personal product secrets with me for the leave condition and anything else. I really do not want to go back to pressing again.

xxDcarlaxxD 9 months ago
@xxDcarlaxxD kimmaytubes hair is 4a 4b if you check out sera2544 she has also grown her hair super long using the same tecniques... she is 4b....4c doesnt really exist but if it did i would say that sera2544 is 4b mostly 4c... sera is also nigerien... i think it depends on how you take care of your hair. hair texture doesnt dictate how much easier or how much faster it is to grow your hair... that is y kim makes videos! to prove african american women can grow hair w/ proper care.
jazzybee445 9 months ago
@xxDcarlaxxD ...Hi, my hair is very course, or kinky, nappy, whichever you choose. What I experienced is that the longer your hair grows the looser my curl pattern became. My hair is not brastrap length. I lightly straighten maybe once or twice per year.

Hi. Ive watched ALL of your vids. I have yet come across one detailing your regimen. Is that something that you could put together (PLEASE) for your loyal viewers?
ie washing/ deep conditioning frequency? how often you keep a style? etc.
Thank you. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Kim do you feel that wearing styles that keep your hair in a stretched mode cut down on shrinkage when worn in a style that is not stretched like a braid out or a wash and go?
SJANELJ 10 months ago
Kim,
How long does your leave in conditioner last in your hair before you wash your hair for the week? Does your hair retain moisture for the whole week or does it get dry mid week?
Stamfurdgurl 10 months ago

MsLita1 1 year ago
@MsLita1 Hey there! Here's my friendly advice to transitioning which I believe is the toughest part. I braided my hair all the time, but with MY OWN hair, I didn't add extensions or anything. I would simply wash them, braid them and once dry unbraid them. Separate the curly strands a lil u'll get a wavy look. I did just about anything with my hair that way. And I wore this style for about 3 months until I had my BC,I couldn't take it anymore I just wanted my naps lol. Hope this helps good luck!

Thank you so much for doing this video! Prior to going natural, my hair was maybe an inch or two below my shoulders. I bc'd three years ago, and my hair is now almost at my bra strap.
TheIslanddawta 1 year ago

You should do what you want with your hair. :-)

Hi Kim! I am one of your young viewers (17), and I found benefit in ALL of your vids. Completely insightful/inspirational. I got the "BC" on August 13th of this year (2010...I keep a written hair log of my progress), and have had tremendous hair growth even though it has only been 2mths.
